Are gems important after getting 5th builder hut?

I'm saving my gems by removing obstacles, gem box, achievements to get the 5th builder hut which cost 2k gems. After i get that, are gems important other than speed up things?

You can always boost your barracks too! I try my very best not to gem any resources. Instead, I would boost my barracks. That way, I can push to make that last 2-3 million for a big upgrade.

This will depend on a number of things. First you will not regret the fifth builder. Second what you do with gems will depend largely on how fast u upgrade. As upgrades take more time, you will find your builders busy longer. If an upgrade only has a day and u have the gold for the next upgrade, gems are better to finish the upgrade and start the other as opposed to risking losing the gold. Also barracks boosting is best only when u got 2 hours to spend raiding non stop or if you are in war. Personally I have gemmed the last little bit of de for my barb king upgrade a couple of times because of lightening spells zapping it.

I strongly disagree with this statement, as the max amount of gold that you could lose is probably 3-400k gold. That's the equivalent of 3-4 raids even considering nexting costs, which could be carried out in less than an hour with 4 barracks boosted. That's 40 gems that you would spend instead of the 200+ gems you require to gem it for a day.

The only time gems are actually worth using for finishing builds are to let you get on a next build if the current build ends at a time when you will be unavailable for awhile (sleeping, vacations, whatever).

I personally think there is no point in gems except to rush things once you are done buying huts. Just my opinion though.

Give the gems to the builders so they can live in a house.
