Clash of Clans Troop Math: Are Barracks That Important?

I did some research and math and I ended up with these troop ranks. I used the simple stats: Damage per Second, Hitpoints, and Speed, and the complex stats: Damage per Training Time, Damage per Housing Space, and Damage per Resources (elixir=dark elixir*40).

I balance out the ranks to end up with these ranks!

1. Minion
2. Hog Rider
3. Goblin
4. Wizard
5. Witch
T6. Barbarian
T6. Valkyrie
8. PEKKA
9. Archer
10. Wallbreaker
11. Dragon
12. Balloon
13. Giant
14. Golem

These stats are more weighted on Damage, but include all the others.

So if you have elixir, should you spend it on upgrading barracks?

Here are these graphs of the value of the barracks with the upgrading costs included.
This graph is for the barracks. Not including the healer level. As you can see out of 5, the importance drops after level 5 and level 7, so unless you love Healers, Dragons, and PEKKAs, you SHOULD spend your elixir on other army things, like upgrading troops, etc.

This is for the dark barracks. This graph is very IMPORTANT. According to the list, Minions and Hogs are the two troops that are most worth it. Even Valkyries are tied for 6th. Here's the problem with the dark barracks. They have the golems 4th. This makes upgrading to level 5 to get the essential witch costs more and takes longer. So my math recommends to just stay at level 3 and upgrade other things. Its just not worth it. Honestly, I recommend for Supercell to make a level 6 dark barracks troop that is essential to armies, like an overpowered archer that is only 1 unit space.

If you're on a tight budget and farming, use 3 barracks goblins and 1 barracks barbarians.
If you're on a tight trophy budget, use 3 barracks archers, 1 barracks barbarians, and use a dark barracks each of minions and hogs.

Anyway, nice informative post, but stats are one thing, gameplay is another.

barracks are worth upgrading to me because of 2 reasons mainly;

- Amount of troops able to queue
- Certain army comps able to queue up as efficiently as possible ( if you know what I mean )

maybe you need a pc

Just base off the stats is terribly wrong, but it still good to know. If hogs are not targeting defend first, and just some meats jumping over walls, they will be the least favorite troop because they will die out faster than a group of goblin running after loot.

Choosing a single troop is hard. I chose minions, because while farming, they are the most versatile. Yet, I use none in my GoWiWi army.

Pekka also
I hate healers
Wiz cost too much and take too long to train.
Golem are too slow.
Witches need something in front to be useful

When you get to 220-240 troops, you are happy to have upgraded barracks because you need the room to train your full army. I can queue any army composition and get back to the game when all is finished.

Try training a full drag army with only a few maxed barracks. Even with gem, it takes a while.

Upgrading is a must. Choosing a best of the best troop is ... subjective.

Differences in AI and special abilities make them impossible to objectively rank. Each troop has its own function which is balanced by their stats. For example, golem ranks dead last on your list, but it is essential in one of the most powerful attack strategies (GoWiWi and GoWiPe).

If you never push and rarely war, you may be right about not upgrading barracks and focusing on lower troop upgrades...but upgrading barracks & higher level troops is essential if you plan to seriously push or be competitive beyond a single attack strategy.

Also, as tiny as the difference may be, I want all of my buildings as difficult to destroy to slow the attacker down...so that is reason enough to suffer through barrack upgrading for me ;)

and dark barracks in th9.

Upgrade barracks in th10 is significantly more painful.

With clan wars being an integral part of the game now, TH8s and below have no choice but to max their dragons ASAP.

And if a TH9 wants to attack his equal with success, he needs to have maxed pekkas and golems for his level.

So cost effectiveness is out of the question these days. It's all about war raids.
