So I'm stuck! I can get to 1,000,000 elixer and about 5500 dark elixer and that's about it. I then get attacked loose around 150,000, get shield to build it back up to where I was, then attacked and loose it again. Been like this for weeks! At this rate will never be able to save enough to upgrade to 5 level anything, or get enough dark elixer for a king.
Please post a picture of your base. It might be a design issue :D
Depends on your base
With the bigger upgrades it becomes even more important to get multiple raids in while staying online, if you get raided and then break your shield to raid once and then get back off you won't be able to gain anything. It is all about raiding a few big raids so that when you get off if you get raided its still a net gain.

I'm nearly finished maxing out at TH8 (just working on walls and a few dark troop upgrades). I completely filled my DE storage (80k) by boosting a few barracks at a time and using either pure archers or a combination of barbarians and archers. If you can raid continuously for a few hours here and there, you should be able to make steady progress. Just be sure that your DE storage is completely centered and well protected, and that your TH is well away from your walls. For every raid on my base where I lost significant DE, I received 10 free shields from TH snipes.
ETA: I have been having pretty great success farming at Gold III. It's a little boring to just barch TH7s, but it's cheap and effective. I also rarely suffer all out revenge attacks, which happened more frequently when I was picking on TH9s.
I am a th8 with 6,000,000 elixir which is full for th8. I have everything upgraded with elixir except some barracks to lvl10. I have pretty good luck finding a collector raid in 5-15 mins. I am in crystal which I think is ideal for farming. But on to ur problem. If u get attacked and lose all ur resources then u prob want to change ur base. If this isn't the problem then try to drop trophies so there will be weaker players attacking u. Also to farm millions of loot u want to stay on in 1 or 2 long spans during the day instead of multiple short spans
I'm a TH 8 and I'm not finding it anything like as hard to hold onto loot as you. I've got 13,000 DE in the stores at the moment and no one seems to be interested. I've not built it up quickly so I've had 1000's in there for a while, and in the last 30 defences no ones taken more than 25 i.e almost nothing.
So here's what I'm doing:
- farming in Gold 3
- Avoiding attacking TH9's to limit risk of revenge
- Making sure TH is sat in a place where it is very clear it can be sniped easily
- building up splash defences and walls asap.
Nothing sophisticated, but it is enough it seems for people to either snipe or put them off enough so they hit next.
This is base.
There's your problem, it's an underupgraded base. Search around the forums for a good base design and work on getting your walls and defenses upgraded. You'll hang on to loot much easier.
