In-clan trophy weeks - how to make it work?

Hi all,

I'm in a fairly high level clan, as in, there's lots of high levels in there. Range is probably between 60 - 100. We generally farm a lot, until recently when I saw the idea on here for trophy week's each month. We've trialled this, but with limited success - largely because not everyone gets on board. So the top 20 is up there with 2200 - 2800 cups, but the lowers just don't bother.

We put in a low level bar - you must have at least 1600 cups by 'x' date, but they simply stay just above the bar. As some are less active than others, they also take a good 5-7 days to even realise there is a cup hunt on, even though we're using glassboard.

So we end up running the cup hunt for longer then a week to give the lower clan members a chance to get on board, by which time all the people at the top are out of juice and falling back down to gather resources again. Some want to carry on, others want to farm again.

So - any tips? Kick the low cup holders but then have a smaller clan?

p.s. how is the trophy count of the clan calculated - simply the average accross then clan?

In our clan we give special prizes during trophy week events.

How about "wait for update next week" then everyone aiming for the same league ya?

It sounds like you have two different groups there - active and maybe less so.

I'd look at how you sell it to the team really, as mentioned one way could be around the new trophy leagues - let's get more resources by raising our cups..or perhaps it could be around the amount of resources some people are finding at certain levels.

One thing that you might want to consider is above 2-2200 cups it's hard to defend with a weaker base so some of your lower members may be concerned that they are getting themselves in over their heads.

Like anything in a social setting it's really important to get everyone's agreement on the how, why and for how long you are doing this.

we just finished our trophy week and we had the same problem. Only half of the clan joint in the hunt.
But we didnt have a minimum trophy count. Maybe we should introduce this but we will lose several members then.

Gently remind the farmers in your clan that farming is a means to an end, not an end in itself. We farm at lower trophies so we can build stronger villages faster, but the eventual goal is to go rise higher in trophies.

To sell a once in a while cup chase, try and challenge the group and say lets put up our best and see if we can reach top 500 or top 1000, may be even touch the top 200, depending on how strong your clan is.

Do remember, not everyone in a clan is going to be committed to competition or chase. Even if 25+ clanmates are with you, have a cup chase going. It will eventually rub off on the others, the enthusiasm of a chase is too irresistible.

As the trophy weightages above show, the bottom half contribute only a fraction of what the top half do to your clans trophy count.

At the end, if you still dont see much buy in, dont take it personally. Just try to enjoy your game.

We also had trophy contest in our clan and has exactly the same issue. One of the two winners from this contest didn't even know there was a contest. This just highlighted how pathetic Clash of Clan has offered us for communication in game. We have to use 3rd party app but pain in the neck to get everyone to join.

Im glad this thread was started. Were in the same position though with slightly lower clan than yours atm. The problem seems to be some ppl can barely reach 1500-1600 which is farming territory to me. And these are lvl50-60 players so theyre definitely capable of higher.

Im concerned that the most active ppl who are trying the hardest could discouraged by this as we have th7 ppl believe it or not that have reached 2000 trophies. Anyone have any incentives or ideas theyve implemented that have helped boost enthusiasm?

Our clan has an active influx of new recruits. For our Trophy Drive, we transfer a member with low trophy to our feeder each time there's an applicant with higher trophy. :)

If you're doing it for a week out of the month, spend the three weeks hyping up your members. You may want to try creating a clan website or get an app that gets your members in one place and give them updates and details on the upcoming event.

I've found that incentives work better as opposed to advertising consequences for not participating. Get your elders on board too. Your collaborative effort will encourage the rest to follow suit. Best of luck on your trophy week!
