Title is self explanatory...I was thinking that it would be awesome to leave a message on someone's "wall" so to speak either after raiding or if you just happen to see a cool looking village and you want to complement someone.

Way too easily abused. Little kiddies would always leave inappropriate messages.
Haha, I can see now the funny messages I would leave to people. Just some really random stuff that would make people go "what the??" :P .. Nothing bad though.
I would just leave messages like, "thanks for the loot :)" haha...
Why? To add insult to injury? I personally would not want to hear from the person who just raided me, even if it's a compliment.
You could limit the chat to smileys only. Let the attacker and/or defender send one smiley to the other. Smileys could be ,, and ;)
In the iphone card game Bang!, people have to communicate. To keep it nice, they don't use a chat: they only provide smileys that people can use (or not, but then you're not expressing yourself). Overall, I don't think leaving a message to other players would add much to the game.
