How do you use wall breakers now?
I attempt to attack a poorly designed box village, I have 8 wall breakers, barbarians, and archers. I place barbs down to distract the defenses, then place down 2 WB's who immediately run off to the left of where they were placed only to get shot by cannon. I repeat this pattern 4 times, each time the WB's would go left or right of where I placed them, making the barb distraction useless. At least on the 4th attempt, ONE WB hit.... Soooooo, how do you use WB's? Has the game been manipulated to the point that if Supercell allows, a WB will hit a wall?
So much bad information in this thread
THE UPDATE CHANGED THE WB AI. This is why you are now having problems.
Basically, WBs now preferentially target damaged walls, even if those damaged walls were just nicked and sometimes even over other compartments that have buildings in them. So if any of your cover troops happend to hit a wall semi-nearby, the WBs like to zoom off to that spot instead of the poorly designed T junction. If the wall has multiple spots damaged, it can lead to one zooming off one way and another zooming off another way. Even compartments that have been cleared out can have WBs still target them.
Stupid move on Supercell's part? Yes, very much so. Base designs with crappy outward facing T junctions are actually not that bad anymore due to the WBs unpredictability. Hopefully they fix them soon because right now the WB AI is pathetic.
Before anyone accuses me of not knowing what I'm talking about, my primary farming army has been WallBAG for many months now. I used to be able to precision target poorly designed junctions even inside bases. Not anymore. Also, I'm an ex game designer who worked for a very large company for many years. Understanding and tuning AI was part of my job description. I've watched replays and have seen exactly why the WBs are behaving the way they do and it's because of the update.
As for how to deal with it? All you can do at this point is to carry a few more WBs in your army (used to carry 10, now 12) and not depend on them to get you as far into the base as before. Poorly designed T junctions can still be targeted if you can get the WBs off before your army engages the wall, but that only works for the first set of WBs and the timing is so hard it's nearly random. If you get WBs that zoom off to the side, you have to give them cover near that new spot and then launch them again closer to that spot. Yes it sucks. No there isn't anything better that can be done about it right now.
