How many dragons?

I'm new to using drags so they're level one but how many is a good number to use without worrying about them all dying? After all the air defenses are destroyed of course.

I have a couple good revenges to do and I'm making an army specifically for each one.

One of them is a th7 so I'm going to lightning one of the ad's, put giants and archers on the other, then 6 drags in an l shape to destroy the rest. Is that going to do it?

2nd one is a th9 with 3 ad's. I'm a little more unsure on this one as I've never attacked a th9. Same strat as above except put 2 or 3 of the drags by the last ad. Any suggestions?

Probably the best answer is more is better.

top trophy hunters seem to go 10 or 11 dragons backed up by lightning spells.

I like to use to two or three to farm. Also if you're skilled enough to aim your dragon right onto AD, do it, dragon heads up with AD wins.

Ill post some of my dragon farming numbers...

Here's mine. I've been having 5m-ish elixir in the past two weeks even after using 2-3m on lab upgrades so this scenario has become more often as my first raid/revenge when I wake up since I queue up 12 dragons before I sleep. 2 are for donating.

dragons for farming..? not very efficient is it? the base with pink and gold walls wouldnt require a full 200/200 (TH7) to loot 99%.. brewing times are too long!

never really have a clear answer to that but personally I would get like 9-10 of them for revenge and then just swoop in on the base after lighting spell destroys the AD.

Nothing more gratifying to see the base being reduced to rubble by a bunch of dragons :D

KEt to dragons is using them in flocks of 2-3 so they quickly overpower the defences....if it's a big base you might wish to use lightning on the air defences...but if not then try to take them out first with ground troops before deploying drags.

Well when I farm elixer I mostly use goblins. Dragons may not the most efficient, but always fun. The key here is I only used two dragons. My army only cost 100k, so since I looted 200k elixer its still a profit. Just trying to show that its possible to farm with dragons, not that it's the most efficient.

If time is the major factor then don't use dragons. I gem my goblin army anyways so I only need one or two barracks to gem, then every 30 min I get a "free" dragon round from the remaining barracks. My goblin army is identical except instead of two dragon I roll with 40 goblins.

I like to use dragons, 10 of them and then use 5 wizards, king, queen and cc pekka as back up. I also carry three lightning to take out an air defense and the rage at the end to beef up the back ups.

Theyre useful to queue when your offline for a while. I have 3 barracks to train some lvl 3 drags and fill them all whenever I'm offline. It's pretty useful especially when your at th8. I have wayyyyy too much elixir to use at th8 - I upgraded my DE pump to max for th lvl just because I had too much elixir. They just make getting high gold loots a bit easier.

plus when I get 9 drags and 20 archers which I normally use, 3 more drags are queued and ready as soon as I battle. 12 dragons can normally give me 2/3 attacks for 200k+ gold each. That's pretty efficient ;) then I have to revert back to normal troops because I agree that 30 mins each is too long when your online and waiting to attack.

I cue'd up a bunch for raids this morning. (whilst I slept) had 9 in the cue

I am TH7, I only have lvl1 Drags, but I only needed 7. all ten[..EDIT; I meant all 9] would have been a bit of overkill and since they cost a lot and train time is long.. I used the other for a seperate raid.
Put 2-3 for each A/Def..and had a bout 40 or so archers

once the a/def is out, send archers to get the exposed ArchyTwrs, and the rest kind of takes care of its self..
my Drags will be lvl 2 saturday, so they will be more potent!

send them in pairs of two or groups of three, back them up with some tier one troops and confuse the def AI..
target the A/Def as priority or they will get smoked quickly..
like any troop, the more you use them, them more you get to know their strengths/weak points.

Same here. Currently a month into th8 (from almost max th7 except BK, barracks, mines and collectors) and my storages are always overflowing with elixir. I'd queue up dragons when I'd be offline for an hour or so or when I'm about to sleep and wake up with 10 already in my barracks and two more ready to go out as soon as there'd be available space in the camp. So I'd donate two to my clanmates and still have 10 I can use usually for revenge.
