How many dragons?

I'm new to using drags so they're level one but how many is a good number to use without worrying about them all dying? After all the air defenses are destroyed of course.

I have a couple good revenges to do and I'm making an army specifically for each one.

One of them is a th7 so I'm going to lightning one of the ad's, put giants and archers on the other, then 6 drags in an l shape to destroy the rest. Is that going to do it?

2nd one is a th9 with 3 ad's. I'm a little more unsure on this one as I've never attacked a th9. Same strat as above except put 2 or 3 of the drags by the last ad. Any suggestions?

Probably the best answer is more is better.

top trophy hunters seem to go 10 or 11 dragons backed up by lightning spells.

I like to use to two or three to farm. Also if you're skilled enough to aim your dragon right onto AD, do it, dragon heads up with AD wins.

Here's mine. I've been having 5m-ish elixir in the past two weeks even after using 2-3m on lab upgrades so this scenario has become more often as my first raid/revenge when I wake up since I queue up 12 dragons before I sleep. 2 are for donating.

dragons for farming..? not very efficient is it? the base with pink and gold walls wouldnt require a full 200/200 (TH7) to loot 99%.. brewing times are too long!

never really have a clear answer to that but personally I would get like 9-10 of them for revenge and then just swoop in on the base after lighting spell destroys the AD.

Nothing more gratifying to see the base being reduced to rubble by a bunch of dragons :D
