How Premature?

Hey guys! I was recently just playing clash of clans, when I became curious about TH 8, specifically how much it would cost in gems to buy 2 million gold as a reference point, because I'm too lazy to use the wiki. Anyways, I was looking at the cost, and for whatever reason I got to the point where if you press one little button, you upgrade your town hall. Long story short, I'm a dumbass. Anyways, I pressed the button accidentally and ended up spending a ton of gems on the town hall. That's not what I'm worried about though. My question is how premature am I? I know that now TH 9's can get me without major penalties, and at least I get level 5 troops, but not all of my defenses are up to speed. I have 3 cannons still at level 7, with 2 at level 8, and I have one level 6 AT and 3 level 7 archer towers, but I should be able to get one cannon and two archer towers upgrading before my town hall finishes. Also, I have almost all level 6 walls with a few level 5 walls that are not high priority to upgrade. My mortars are all maxed, but my wizard towers are level 3. And I'm super sorry, but I can't upload pictures on to here (I get a weird error when I try) so if someone who can upload pictures could help me out, my name is Ethan, an elder in the clan Reddit Yankee and I am around 1500 trophies.

Premature TH8's aren't as bad as TH9 so you will do fine if you can get level 5 troops.

TH 8 rushing is bad, but not terribly, game-ruining level bad. You are certainly premature, but I have seen much, much worse. Focus on getting level 5 farming troops amd maxxing your army camps (if you haven't already done so). Defensively, walls, wizad towers, and cannons could all use some work. If you are worried, though, you could cancel the upgrade.

You honestly don't have much to worry about, just upgrade those defences, especially the mortars and Wzds. Also work on them level 5 troops, so save up lots of elixir! Would love to see your base, what's your clan/name?

You should have cancelled the upgrade.

But you aren't as bad as some th8's I've seen.
Focus on upgrading your offense and splash towers.

General concensus is stay lower lvl th as long as you can. But what is done is done, so since you are th9 you might as well get the xbow and archer queen if you can. I'm very close to upgrading to lvl 9 and want to get xbow, and archer queen so much. But I should have lots of loot for that since ill only be upgrading collectors and mine while upgrading for th9.

Cancel it, Gold is easy to get back. But you are missing the most fun level of townhall. Which is 7

painful to cancel esp cos he gemmed for the gold to UG (if i read OP correctly). wouldnt be that bad if it were looted gold..

that said, i agree with those who said cancel.. painful as it is better short term pain than longer term misery..

i was a premature TH8 myself back in Dec12, and noone advised to cancel.. sigh.. but back then lvl5 troops were max so it was a small consolation.

fyi today i am still a TH8 (almost maxed) and in no rush to get to TH9 cos i still like looting the newly minted TH7s with minimal troops hahahaha (this will be your fate for the next coupla months cos you are an under-defended TH8).

I attacked a TH 9 yesterday that had only lvl 3 walls....Derp. Lol

I think you'll be fine to let it finish. I went TH8 with nearly the same level defenses, only difference being I had maxed wizards and lvl 7 walls (granted, an expensive difference). I haven't had any difficulty at all as TH8 though, even with crappy cannons and ATs. I'd say the most compelling reason to stay TH7 would be to get the money for your walls where it is the easiest to farm, but since you said walls are pretty low priority for you, might as well continue the upgrade.

Man tough decision but I wouldn't cancel

Your Priority list (in order) :

1. Wizards to level 4
2. Archers and cannons to level 8
3. Walls to level 6 (all)
4. Air defense to level 4 at least
5. Upgrade your buildings and walls above that

I would definitly cancel the upgrade if I where you, those walls are gonna take forever on TH 8.
How many gems did you spend?

Cancel, farming TH 7 is the best fun you can have with your clothes on :) I had already started my TH to lvl 8 before I started getting info about this game on the forum. I canceled it, and its the best decision I have made so far.

I upped to th8 way too early, about a month and a bit after getting the game...I have camped there for the past two months and have had no trouble whatsoever, I imagine I was doing even worse than u so I say just go on and as long as you max th8 u should be fine
