Crystal as a TH8

Basically I am just wondering if it is worth it to go up to Crystal 3 or Crystal 2 as a TH8. I have been finding very good loot in Gold 3 aside from D.E. I need to start getting dark elixir now so I was wondering if it is good to go up to Crystal league as a TH8 because I always see people saying how good the loot is up there as in 300k-300k raids all the time. This is hard for me to believe because whenever I push (highest trophy count is only 1870 or something) up to Gold 1 the loot (gold and elixir) absolutely sucks except for some well defended TH9 and TH10. The D.E. is decent up there though and I will occasionally find a base that I can get the D.E. from but never really a sufficient amount of gold or elixir.

Other info:
Level 5 troops: archer, barb, giant, wall breaker, wizard
Level 4 troops: goblin, balloon
Level 3 troops: healer
Level 2 troops: dragon
Level 1 troops: hogs, minions, valks
Don't have golems or pekkas yet

Crystal is very good for resources as a th8, mostly because it's all th9s and 10s so you will have a large loot bonus. Just prepare to get 3 starred a lot and lose resources on defense since again, it's mostly th9s and 10s. As for getting to crystal, easiest, fastest, and cheapest way is to snipe bases with their th outside with archers. Good luck!

Yeah I mean I could get to crystal with a lot of sniping but what I'm asking is how the actual loot is. Presumably there will be more D.E. than in any part of Gold league but are the bases going to be well-upgraded TH9 and TH10 all the time? I can't really do anything to those bases with the troops that I have without doing mass dragon everytime. I heard from someone that there are lots of abandoned bases in crystal but I'm not sure if I believe that.

Honestly, if you're looking for easy loot in abondoned bases, gold 2 is probably the best... I'm th9 and the loot in crystal 2/3 is awesome, but I have level 6 troops and have no problem reaching their resources. At th8 I remember farming in crystal with a barb/archer army with 3 rage spells. Best bet is to just give it a try.

What troops do you use? Do you find collector or storage raids? Is there just D.E. or gold and elixir too?

I know. I can find some good collector and storage raids (since the storages are in easy TH8 and or TH7 bases) in Silver 1/Gold 3 but I want to know if there are at least some bases with raids that are manageable for TH8 without having to do a mass dragon raid everytime. I mainly just want to go to a higher league for the D.E.

Yes I think farming de in crystal should be fine.

I'm about 70 trophies away from Crystal 3 and I'm an almost maxed th7

It seemed like DE was fairly plentiful in Crystal. You can definitely brute force a lot of zero star raids by just streaming a bunch of barbs, archers, goblins and about 10-12 wallbreakers at a DE storage 1-2 walls away. But I found I dropped out pretty fast losing that many trophies and the gold and elixir was pretty thin.

Otherwise as a TH8, I find Gold2 is a pretty comfortable farm.

You can farm crystal 3 as a th8. In the begining you may get 3 starred alot but by the end when you'r deffense is upgraded alot it's really not so bad, huge deffense difference from a new and a maxed th8. hogs are not the issue they used to be either.

I went to crystal 3 as a th7. th9 in crystal 2 now. I did it because i aim for DE alway's and find i get enough gold to keep my builders bussy anyway.

I made it to Crystal 3 last nght and got raided and only 2 starred which was nice.

Near crystal is great. I'm almost a fully upgraded TH8 and even though most time I log off there is 1000-2000 DE to steal and 300k elixir and gold I get sniped most of the time.

I'm TH9 in Crystal. I aim specifically for TH8s. So I don't think it's a good idea. In Crystal yes there's a lot of dark elixir but you gotta be at least TH9 to be comfortable.

I actually went up to low Gold 2 recently (I usually stay in Gold 3 or even Silver 1 sometimes) and there is hardly any loot or dark elixir. There is a decent amount but the way everyone makes it seem is way different from what I found. In Gold 3 I could get 1 million gold in an hour with nothing boosted but I can't make close to that in Gold 2 or Gold 3. Is it worth it to go up there solely for the amount of D.E?

I'm a town hall 8 who is currently at crystal 3. Loot can be great some days and terrible others. I would recommend you come up here and check it out.

What is an average raid that you go on? Is it easy enough to find gold/elixir? Do you have to use expensive armies to get the DE?

As already stated Gold2/3 is a comfortable farm for a TH8. Lots of gold/elix, less dark elixer. Crystal there is more DE, but your enemies are also much tougher. Lots of TH9's/10's ready to shred you once you log....and unless you're maxed you really don't stand a chance (not really if you're maxed either going up against a full TH9/10 force with all spells, royals, etc).

You also need to bring better armies to break into cores. Barch'ing can be effective, but you'll probably lose way more than you win, and you'll also be hitting the Next button about 100 times to hopefully find a full pump base.

So yeah....not really recommended as a TH8, but go ahead and see for yourself. I got tired of being raided by 120+ constantly so it grew thin pretty quick with me. But the bottom line is if you have loot you'll be raided regardless. Always a higher level player lurking in the shadows of a lower league ready to tear you a new one.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I think I will head up to Gold 1 and maybe Crystal 3 at a later point when I need to focus more on DE upgrades but for now I will focus on walls and defense upgrades.

This is what I would highly recommend. Make the push later, once you really need the DE. TH8 requires a ton of gold with all the defensive upgrades (and multiple lvl upgrades to them as well). Might as well farm the gold.

Yup, early TH8 here. I get raided quite enough by big guys in Gold 2 to even think about going to Crys 3 anytime soon. I see a pretty decent amount of DE here as well, so I'll stick around here for the majority of this TH

Farm in 1900-2100 range. Good gold, lix and DE. Stay there for TH9, and maybe then move up a bit for TH10, too.
