Two different clans should not have the same name.

And what i mean by that is that, two different clans should not be able to use the same name.it makes it confusing when you are searching for a specific clan and it takes away the possibility of having a unique clan that no one can copy. This is even more beneficial to clans that are on the leaderboards since allot of people like to copy then names of stronger clans.

I completely agree, but there is an underlying problem that should be fixed before this would be implemented. I believe there should be a minimum number of players to sign a charter (maybe 5 or 10 players) before you can create a new clan. We have WAY too many people that, after playing CoC for all of 1 week, think they are going to start the next #1 clan and add to the problem. Then, they spam global chat constantly, begging people to join them. Seriously, the number of clans really needs to be reduced somehow. This would ultimately help existing, stable clans in recruitment.

Yes your right. And for your problem about there being way to many clans, i think there should be a time limit, that if you cant recruit a certain number of players in a set about of time your clan will be deleted.

Clans have no unique name and it degrades the experience for members to belong to a specific clan (Especially if there are 20 other clans with the exact same name). Clan leaders are asking themselves, how can we recruit new members, how can we build loyalty and how can I differentiate myself from all the other clans with our name

Option 2. Supercell will like this option. A trading period is opened, clans (Leaders) can purchase their clan name with gems. (Maybe a bidding process if you really want to take it to the next level) then each subsequent clan get the prefix as mentioned in option 1). After the trading period the unique constraint is added to the database and people can no longer use the same clan name


Option 3. Start enforcing unique names from this point onwards. Might aswell start. The user experience should be something like; create clan, check for name, if its unique and test passes allow the person to registerthe new clan

I think option one would be the most effective idea. Although supercell would most likely use option 2 since its the only idea that allows the profit of gems.

That is a bad idea because the low people who start clans dont get people to join them as easy as the people with high lvl people

You have point, but there are too many new clans as it is. And limiting the number of clans will also help new clans since there will be fewer clans. And more members.

Sweet idea as well

I don't mind that clans have the same name. But if they do make something like this, then there should be no two of the same, like they can be named the same but they all need different shields. That way none are the same.

I find clans that have the same name to be annoying. It makes it difficult when searching for a specific clan when there are 50 clans with the same name.

If sc does implement this, there should be longer clan names

The problem with this is that a lot of family clans have names like family family1 family2 so then it would be a problem, plus which sounds better mad empire or mad empire 349

I mean, we wouldn't have this problem if people had original ideas. But that's human nature, some are followers, some are leaders. Leaders influence the followers to name a clan after the greatest one there is. It's called being a fan of something. You're not going to be the only fan of it, there are bound to be multiples.

Reply, I'd rather be mad empire 349 if there was already a mad empire clan. I say first come first serve. They chose that clan name first so its not fair to steal that name from them.

This is exactly the problem. Low people shouldn't start new clans. Join an existing clan until you understand the game and then​ break away to make a new clan with other people. Maybe at TH5 or so.

I think there ahould just be a limit. Tere are somewhat creatve names tht still happen to have anoter clan or 2 with it. Even if it is 20 it'll make it easier to find a clan.

This is a good idea to counter the number of clans being created.

But let's say I had a clan called "Best Clan". I could make a clan called "Best Clan1", "Best CIan", and so on.

I like the idea, don't get me wrong, but people would get around it relatively easily. Having said that, there is not much that can be done (I don't think).

Then clans would start to have to have names like 1h8B3mYW2. And thats a sucky clan name.

You could try becoming 'cute' and applying methods like you described. However, your clan wouldn't show up in the search results if you were searching 'best clan'. Yeah the others with the suffix would show up but at least now you could spot the 'original' one easily

The point is, and yeah it is a sucky clan name, that it will be unique. As a leader you can start recruiting and get ppl to join your clan and not some other clan with the same name

I absolutely agree with limiting the number of clans. No one wants to join an 8 member clan when they can join a 45 member clan. I know this because i am the leader of an 8 member clan, lol. But limiting the number of clans would limit the number of players and potential income, so I doubt this would happen. If it did though, it could allow introduction of a true league system where advancement in a league would mean beating a member of the league, not just surpassing a trophy count. And think of the potential of a tournament system that would crown a clan war champion in specific divisions each year, or twice a year. Now that we have clan wars we have somewhat of a goal to work towards, but what should happen to clan membership if there were a true champion goal to shoot for?

The thing is, if i wanted to call my clan "Hello" then i would get an infinite list of names like #ell0, hELlO, H3LLO' --Hello-- and xXHelloSl4yarXx

I would get a much better search result when I would lookup 'hello'. As a clan leader i would promote 'hello' clan. Its a much better experience imo. If another person wanted a variation, chances are they will end up losing new recruits to the original

Supercell do it start right now you guys r making millions of dollars daily go ahead and fix this. And here's the only solution::
Implement the unique name searching engine in clan and user creation system. Then send all members an invitation to change their clan name not necessarily ingame but u can take them to a web form. And when they come to change it they will get a message if their name already exists like any other registration process. And they will get a reward, an achievement for doing so not take gems from them that is the most stupid idea I've ever heard.. no offense.

To be frank, i dont really care how it gets implemented just as long as it does. I do think the original clan (the clan that registered their name first should retain their name ). Personally i like the batch process option. Yeah there will be a lot of ♥♥♥♥♥ing and moaning but i suspect only for a short period. In the long run its the right move and will only enhance the experience for a clan building their own unique brand

Not necessarily, supercell would just have to send a message to the clan leader allowing them to change the name once. And the only clan that would not have to change their name would be the original clan that first came up with the name that other decided to copy.

I don't have a problem with weak clans. What I'm asking is that people make clans with a unique name, instead of coping a name thats already being used.

Anyway, after reflecting on my own comment, I realized I was quite stupid. It would be hard to implement right away, but maybe this could be a "from now on" thing.

I think that this is a good idea but many people want the same name as others. This wouldn't be fair. Of course there are many different clans named "Quantum's Web" but maybe someone else had the same idea.

I like it the way it is, however, I don't know if they do this but a clan full of inactive members should be automatically disbanded.
