Hey I'm wondering if I should upgrade to town hall 9. I plan on maxing my cannons and wizards before I start. All my troops are maxed except for dragons and pekkas. And I plan on upgrading walls during the upgrade.

Some people like to rush, but I think you have a while at 8.
I always maxed out before upgrading my TH.
I have been asking myself the same question. I need to max my air defense and get my archers to lvl 10 and my tesla up.
What stops me is the loot penalty. If I go now without being maxed out then it's much more difficult to get the loot needed to catch up and then save for all the new stuff in th9, not to mention troop upgrades.
It's just tempting to have the extra dark drill and be able to upgrade heroes an dark troops much more easily.
Yes it is and it's designed to be that way. I choose to look at it as being like this: you have more drills and drill levels at th9 because you have to have them to compete there. I don't use dark troops at all and I'm doing fine with th8.
Now, do I want to be able to use them more? Absolutely. Is it worth starting the grind all over again. Not really. I want to get a super strong th8 base, take a break and enjoy that for awhile, then make the push again.
That's just my thought tho, every player has a style. Some people rush and do just fine playing catch-up. Me, not so much.

If your troops are maxed for TH8, then yes, upgrade to TH9. The way I look at it, not having anything to upgrade in your lab is the same as having all your builders sitting around doing nothing. So upgrade to TH9 and get back to upgrading your troops while you keep upgrading the rest of your stuff.Quote:

Max DE storage, so when you don't have much you won't lose nearly as much to annoying zappers. You can upgrade all your camps and gain 20 more spots in your army space. You can upgrade your lab to 7 and upgrade some troops to max (barb/arch/giant/balloons/etc.). I upgraded to TH9 early and have not regretted it for a second. I was already farming off mostly TH8 and some TH9 bases anyways, so moving up to TH9 didn't affect me with the loot penalty much to be considerable at all. In the end, this game is all about your offense. Your offense gets you the resources. Your offense gets you the trophies. Your offense gets the stars in wars. Sure you don't want to go up if your defenses are at like TH6 level defenses, but if your defenses are decent for TH8 and you have at least all lvl6 walls, go ahead and upgrade. I was able to get all lvl7 walls in about 2-3 weeks since I was focusing my builders on all elixir upgrades and could just dump all the gold I was getting into walls.
Don't buy into the 'You must MAX EVERYTHING before upgrading!' mentality.
max everything. i do not understand why people say NOT to max everything. your defenses will be underpowered and you will still get attacked by TH9s and TH10s so what does moving up accomplish? moving up isnt going to stop that. the only thing it is going to do is allow TH7s to take a swing at your premmie base without fear of retaliation.
I am getting my walls to level 7 before upgrading from 7-8, so you should probably get your walls up a bit. I've heard there aren't too many defensive changes between town hall 8-9, so you can probably get away with a few defensive behind, but I have heard there are a lot of troop upgrades available, so you should probably max those. I'm a town hall 7, so I wouldn't know much, just giving my opinion.
