What is the minimum you should have done to get TH8?

Wait. Max your defenses and your troops. Walls at a minimum level 6 but preferable farm them to 7. If you upgrade to early it's going to be very very difficult to catch up. To me TH 7 is a farming sweet spot. You get the fourth camp and not a big penalty on TH 6 bases. Take your time and max out you 7 before going to 8. Your teslas and air defenses in particular take forever to upgrade at 7, no less waiting until 8 to do it along with the 8 upgrades. I'm currently in the same boat. I have one Tesla to take to L3 and 2/3 of my walls to L7 as well. The drill isn't worth to loot penalty you'll take again TH6 bases.

I left th7 cause I hated it. People say it's the oasis of loot, but you can't get a third of it, so no, it isn't. I say the oasis is th9. You can defend yourself and have every troop you could want. But as long as your defense is one from Max and offense is Maxed, go ahead and hit th8. It only gets better.

Started and stopped 3 times....

....first, went to TH10 (gemming) quickly had stone walls and my grandson said too fast start over...

....second, went a bit slower got to TH8 with gold walls and a mix of defenses --- some TH6 level, some TH7 level. Spent 3 weeks as that 8 and decided this is way too slow.

....third, started over and maxed each TH all the way to 8 --- currently mid-level on the 8 stuff.

Nope --- max that 7 including the walls!!!!

My archertowers are all on level 6, my cannons (?) are level 6, mortars all level 2 (work in progress to level 3, first one is working), wizard towers level 1. Air defense is level 1 (I almost never needed it up to now, so I kind of ignored it).

This evening my last army camp finishes up to level 5, barracks are 1x level 7, 2x level 6 and 1x level 5.

So what do you suggest what I should at least do? Thank you in advance.

Right now you are severe preemie. So here's what you need to do.

Points(cannons and archer towers) to level 8. You need to max those, however they aren't too expensive so you can do them while you are upgrading the hall. Mortars to level five (or is max 4?) And wizard towers to level 3. Stores you should get to level 10 at least, level 11 isn't necessary for any of the town hall seven upgrades.collectors are fine where they are, for now. Walls level six, preferably seven, air defense up to level five, Arial attacks will become more common. And make sure your second one is there as well. Save up for your king by raiding, and get that to level 2 or 3. Get at least one Barack to level nine, all of them aren't necessarily needed, but at least one should be at nine and the rest to level 6-8. The troops you use the most maxed, other ones can be one level behind, if you want.

Can't really add anything more. You're at about a th5 status with defenses and troops. I don't mean to make it look overwhelming but you're probably 2-3 months away because you rushed to th7 so much.

Your Mortars/Wiz Towers should be your defensive priority. I believe at th 7 you can at least get both to lvl 4.. do that. Cannons and Archers can go to 8 I believe, Since you want a middle ground you can probably get away with getting them to 7.

Army camps must be maxed... MUST as well as all you're tier 1/2 troops should be up to level 4 before going to th8. The benefit of th8 besides some extra def is the lvl 5 troops and if you're only at lvl 3 with them anyway there's no purpose at this point to move to th8.

Thank you for all your answers! I decided I'll go up with archer towers and cannons to level 8 and mortars to level 4 (max is 5 but it takes 4 days each, so I think I'll do some other faster stuff before).

I'll bring my walls up to at least gold everywhere and start getting it purple while I do the other stuff - let's see where I am when my defenses are ready :D. I don't think I'm patient enough to max out everything, but I will level up some more before I go to th8, at least the defense.

You do have a point about not rushing to th8, so thanks for the advice - I'll follow it :) If interested, I can post an update in about one to two weeks and see whether I'm going right ;)

I worry you're going to be in a rude awakening if you get concerned over a 4 day upgrade.. You may be even more inclined to just stay where you are if you consider once you actually get to th8 most upgrades will be 6+ days.

I hope you take advice from everyone here but I fear you'll be instead just upgrade early into th8, fall behind and not enjoy the constant attacking you'll get, and worse, rush into th9 as well. Keep in mind that th8 has the most upgrades by far, it will already be your longest th and you're going into it at a disadvantage because you're already so far behind from rushing 6 & 7.

Until that happens you shouldn't even consider it. And from how you describe you're base you'll need a lot more then 2 weeks to accomplish this. Be patient and it will be worth it.

Good choice! Do not rush to TH8 until you have at least 100 mil gols grab and all purple walls. Actually, looking at your base and your level again, I think you should max out everything at TH7

You are already WAY behind. Why the rush? I cant understand it. Mortars are way more important then cannons.

I don't rush because each TH is fun in its own way. The game is not a race! When you get to TH8, you will immediately start thinking about all the cool things available at TH9, and want to rush there, as well.

Not sure if you're in a clan that you like now, but my clan passes on applicants with obviously rushed bases like yours.
