What is your strategy for DE? (Mainly asking TH8s)

I really want some ideas of what I should do to help myself get some more DE. I am a pretty late TH8 with what I think is a pretty good base. However, I have trouble getting DE, mainly because I dont have too much experience with it. I tried to go up to around 1800 trophies and of course found some good DE loot but everytime I log off I get attacked by high TH9s hanging in a low trophy count (for them) and lose 1k+ DE. I then attempted to go to around 1450 trophies and still am losing over 1k when attacked. Is my base that bad? Is this normal for town hall 8s to experience? What is your strategy to get DE?

P.S. I can upload a pic of my base if anyone wants and I also cant get above 23k DE, so I really need this assistance.

I'm a th9 but I'll tell you the best way to earn de....

Step 1: get in a at least Crystal 3
Step 2: Find a farming base with lots of de
Step 3: Take out there townhall on the outside
Step 4: Zap there de storage with 3 lightning spells

It may be harder for me to get DE, but I refuse to lightning DE unless it is done to me and I revenge that person.

I got my barb king to 5 just do wars and be in crystal:p

Learn to break into bases/storage and identify abandoned bases with full pumps. That's how I got my BK to 10.

Typically, I got into Crystal and just barch there. The good way to conserve DE is to raid in bursts. Always try to stay online for a few hours just constantly barching there. Getting 50% and also looking for storages just behind one wall is your best bet.

You can also zap DE via revenges. It works in your favor whenever a TH 9 rips you apart as you can just get them back by zapping their DE. Good chances that they're holding 2k for you.

You can also try Giants / Wallbreakers / Goblins / Archers complimented with some Healing spells. This is a longer cook time, but unlike barch, it has the power to go into tougher bases where the storages are deeper.

I think you might be at the stage where elixir is overflowing and you have nothing to do with it, I would say just accept the 1.xxx k hits to your storages from TH9's, brew up mass dragons and rage overnight to revenge and take more DE back in the morning.

Then when you are about 8 - 10k off your next DE upgrade, boost your barracks, go for barch with 5 wbs and hit exposed DE storages and drills, or ones that are within the first or second layer. Don't bother going for the win, drop just enough troops to get the DE and get out so you can hit the next one fast. Just make sure when you start this that you are in at least Gold 1 or crystal 3, you tend to drop trophies a lot doing this and you want to ensure that you are in a good trophy range for Dark Elixir.

I'm also at TH8, and my BK at level 8 right now. I stay at the trophy range of 1300-1400 to avoid be attacked from TH9 players. Base on my experience, if you don't have Gold and Elixir, not many people want to attack you only for DE (remember to locate your DE at the safest point). When I am farming DE, I spend all my Gold and leave only few hundred thousands Elixir in storage for training troops.

Swallow your pride and do what needs to be done.

The only time I lose DE is when it gets zapped. Your standard farming isn't able to reach my storage so you may need to redesign your base.
I earned most of it around gold 2/3.
I've researched plenty of dark troops, and my king is level 9 soon to be level 10.
When I'm not zapping, I BARCH.
I typically only aim for storages within 2 walls of the edge. Where barbs break through one and my archers can walk through and reach it.
Like you refuse to zap, I refuse to use wallbreakers unless I'm pushing trophies. It's all about the time and I hate waiting.
Probably the most important, look for the drills. They're usually not tucked away and often times they're full. Distinguish level 1,2 and 3. A full level 3 drill is money.

Gold 1, Place TH outside walls. Free shield within ten minutes of logging off.

Yep, go as high as your raiding skills can handle, then keep your TH outside. If you are close to 2000, ideally above, loads of weaker bases will take your TH and move on, so your DE will be safe.

Trying to protect your TH as well as your DE, is best left for when you are TH10...

Also, be sure to look for full de drills, the higher you go the more often you should see high level drills with plenty in them, that are easier to get at.

Honestly, I just attack normally and attack the bases as usual, and I seem to make alot of D.E without knowing. I was at 4k once (Just spent 20k on upgrading my minions) and then I looked again about 2-3 hours later and I was at 10k... Not that much, but Its a decent amount when I dont need or expect it.
