My clan does not have a single TH 10. We are currently 27 members. There are just 7 of us at TH9. A couple of us are somewhat advanced TH 9, but no where near max (I have 1 lvl 2 xbow, for example...the only xbow in the clan above lvl 1).
In wars, we always face multiple TH 10's in opposition (usually 2 or 3). That means we face multiple TH's that have 2 inferno towers, 3 xbows, and 240 max troop loads. EVERY SINGLE TIME. It's quite common for their top 5 to be nearly impenetrable, even with GoWiPe. My lvl 1 golems, witches, valks, etc., just aren't going to get me far, without a freeze spell.
This most recent war (as an example) I was attacked by lvl 4 golems and witches (GoWiPe). From a TH 10 guy that had level 3 xbows at lvl 3. Of course he sent his 240 troops and 30 clan castle support at me. My TH 9 base was demolished easily.
As the clan leader, it's challenging to maintain a positive attitude when there are always 3+ enemy bases that we have little or no hope of gaining a star against. This gives the opposition a tremendous advantage, as we might as well subtract 10 stars from our maximum potential each war.
The match making isn't so far off that it's ALWAYS impossible for us to win, but far too often my clan simply doesn't have the firepower, at my top level guys, to gain the stars we need to gain from their top level guys.
The things I can control, I do. Attack strategy, participation, war base layouts, donations, etc. We manage what we can. The match making, however, is beyond my control, yet is deciding the winner in far too many instances.
