Buy that fifth builder?

As a mid-range town hall 8, I bought my fifth builder about half way through th8. This is why I'm glad I did it and why I wish I had done it at town hall 7.

1. I firmly believe that the best way to spend gems is on builders or buying the King outright.

2. As a post mentioned earlier, always keep one builder handy for walls. This is especially true when you got 4 other upgrades going on that take 5 days or more.

3. As you approach the end of TH 7, you are planning the jump to TH 8. It will be SOOOO much faster for you to have 5 builders going on those new defenses that you are trying to rank up.

4. Right now I'm focusing on my air defense and tesla. Here's how I use all 5 of my builders effectively (everyone has their own way, mind you)

One builder for walls
One builder for camps, pumps, mines, storages, and barracks.
3 builders on defenses.

I start a defensive upgrade and, about 2 days before it finishes, I push for the gold on the next one. As you do this, elixir will flow, so keep your lab going and the second builder busy at all times. The you just keep going through the cycle. When all 3 defensive builders are busy with long upgrades like air defense, then start working hard on those walls. The builder for walls also serves to clear debris and gem boxes.

In short, I'm coming up on the end of th 8 and have multiple day builds. I still keep all 5 builders busy. Best investment I ever made. Not to mention that they can slow down troops for a second.

I'm keeping tabs on the money I spend. I used to spend 60 dollars on the 8-Bit NES games in the 90's so I figure it's okay. I really would like to stay around that, but I don't think it's gonna happen. At least it's the only video game I spend money on :cool:

Definitely, buy it. I was worried about this when I started the game about a month ago, I forgot where did I saw it but the discussion went like 4 builder is the safest way to go and now, I absolutely regretted for not buying the 5th builder, I sit on tons of resources almost everyday with no free builders.

Boy that fifth builder sure is nice. My wife bought it for me for my birthday. I got onto the game to find that I had another builder lol. God Bless that woman :D

I had some friends tell me you can't keep 5 builders active at th 9 but I'm bored to death waiting on upgrades that take 6-12 days each! Do it!

The only argument against not getting a 5th builder is not spending money of gems.

But the 5th builder is like having a gun during a zombie apocalypse. ....


Its better to have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it.

I use all 5 builders if I have 1 or more upgrades done in under 24 hours or I keep one open for walls if I have upgrades longer than 24 hours if that makes sense.

buy it, the upgrading goes soooooooo much faster....that 1 builder makes a huge difference

This is the best explanation for the need of a fifth builder I've seen to date! Definitely better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it!

I got my fifth builder back when I was on TH8, and it's been a great edition ever since! Currently at TH9 and like many others have said, I'll keep four builders going non-stop and save the fifth for walls. Sometimes if I need to upgrade a bomb or something that's 16hrs or less I'll put the fifth builder on it before I go to sleep so he's done by the time I get off work the next day he's available again. Or if another upgrade only has a few hours left I'll get another upgrade started with the fifth builder and have another free by the time I've worked up enough gold to start dumping into walls (currently working on skulls so this is never a problem if I only have to wait a couple hours for a builder to get free). Some people say it isn't necessary the higher up you go, but the way I see it I've still got plenty of defenses to upgrade, and when I go from TH9 to TH10 I'll need to build another de drill, xbow, two infernos, and upgrade all defenses and camps, so that fifth builder will still come in handy for quite awhile!

It doesn't matter if your 5th builder isn't busy. I find that to be a stupid rule. It won't delay your progress at all if it's not busy, so go and buy it.
