[HERO] Skeleton/Gobln Assassin (counter to heros and traps! skillshot ability!)
So, skeleton themed troops are awesome, right? We've got two already, and both sneaky. And apparently fond of bombs. Or goblins, the're smart and fast and small, right? They could wield a knife and go unnoticed if they wanted to.
Imagine now a HERO. King tanks? Queen deals indecent amounts of damage to town halls and whatever else? Big deal. The Assassin disarms traps. And if he happens to find a hero, he strikes. Hard.
When the ability "sneak attack" is clicked, he also drops a bomb.
For defense, he would be mostly useless, as he's got so little damage and life points.. Unless he gets lucky and find a careless hero wondering about...
A few numbers:
Quote:
Damage per second: ~75-144 (x6 on heros)
Hitpoints: ~350 - 850
Favorite Target: Hero
Damage type: Single target, Area (active ability)
Movement speed: 18 x 2 (see ability)
Ability: Sneak Attack
The hero sprints on a straight line, invisible and avoiding obstacles. It strikes a single blow to the first hero it meets before being revealed. He moves faster while invisible or defending your base. The Assassin triggers traps.
Active: drops a bomb that deals extra damage to heros and reveals himself.
Ability Leveling:
Quote:
Attack trigger Range: very small (like a 1.5 squares radius circle around the assassin, 3 diameter)
Explosion damage: ~100-270 (x3 on heros)
Explosion Area: 2-4.5 squares radius (4-9 diameter circle)
Reveal/slow delay: ~ 0.1-1.2 secs
(most numbers are preceded by a "~" because I'm not very positive about the balancing here.. Feel free to discuss)
mechanics:
- this is a skillshot, which means you'll first place the hero, then aim and click a direction
- the skeleton goes invisible on a straight line with 36 movement speed (4 more than the goblin), jumping walls and triggering traps (also avoiding them due to the high movespeed - like goblins)
- when an enemy hero comes into a short range from him, he aims and goes for the strike
- he strikes for a single stab, dealing massive damage
- the assasin then keeps moving forward towards the direction it was last facing, going visible and losing movespeed over a short delay after the blow, until he dies or leaves the map.
- whenever during that process the ability can be clicked to lay down a bomb, thus revealing the assassin even if before the strike takes place
A few more numbers and important considerations:
- A lvl 1 assassin perfect strike (bomb and stab) would deal 750 damage to a hero, 100 on buildings in a small area. Possibly 300 area damage on other heros as well if close enough. A lvl 1 queen has 725 HP, a king 1700, an assassin 350.
- A lvl 40 assassin perfect strike would deal 1674 damage to a hero, 270 on buildings in a large area. A builder hut has 250 HP. Possibly 810 area damage on other heros as well. A lvl 40 queen has 1630 HP, a king 4453, an assassin 850.
- It will be hard to actually land the stab. Bomb is easier.
- If an immediate counter to the defending queen seems unbalanced.. Remmember there will also be an assassin defending, focusing heros and hoping to land 2 hits and kill the attacking queen! He can even be placed near the allied queen, and end up triggering the stab before she does, who knows...
- As the invisibility fade out so quickly in early levels, the assassin dies right after, and therefore stops disabling traps when a hero is hit or a bomb laid. Later on he will endure a little longer, not much, and can still hopefully disarm something (or lay a bomb a bit farther). Meaning it will probably be used most effectively against traps when not dealing damage to heros.
- later level bombs also take down the weakest buildings, which means a well placed bomb means a free small percentage, very valuable for cheap attacks when you go for 50% and loot from collectors. Clustered builder huts and hero altars for instance... That can be game-changing!
So.. Kind of a crazy idea, but it would add some interesting gameplay possibilities to counter traps and/or slightly nerf those recently buffed heros that make getting 3 stars on TH 10s pretty much impossible nowadays unless you have all troops maxed and lvl 40 heros =P
I figure maybe a maxed out assassin should be able to hit kill a queen.. Maybe it will be THAT hard to get the aiming, but I feared it would be too overpowered, but hey.. It's a hero and it's supposed to be. It should be hard to actually hit her as heros keep moving (also maybe they should move more frequently and make it harder), so I'm actually thinking it would be ok.. Should feel like kind of gambling, or used surely to clear a line of traps and deal no damage to heros at all, I would personally love to be able to do that!
Also balances a bit when you come to think there will be an assassin ready to focus your heros when attacking, and he moves super fast. Good agains hogs as well, since the fact that you can trigger giant bombs (hogs counters) needs balancing as well.
Numbers must be tweaked of course, this is a very overpowered unit I figure.. and an awesome one too haha
If you read this now, thank you for sticking till the end =)
