Lvl 6 Giants VS. Lvl 6 Balloons

Hello forum,

I'm at a bit of a road block here. Giants and Loons get, arguably, the biggest upgrades at level 6 of any troop. In the past, I have used both troops for both farming and pushing. Balloons, in my opinion, have more versatility with the Balloonion strategy being both able to push and farm quite well, however Giants have a stronger farming capability with a significantly lower training time (almost half) than Balloons do, yet less versatility for pushing and more capability for war, whereas Loons have almost no capability in war (going against TH 9s I'd want the 2 star or 3, not a 1).

Being that they both cost the same amount of elixir and identical upgrade time, what would be your choice? I'm on the fence and need something to push me to one side or another.

thanks :) Didn't search, probably should have. That was helpful, and makes me lean more towards Giants (considering the lower-cost army), buuuut... I don't know. I'd really like the higher pushing capability with loonion.

Too many variables.

first of all you wont be getting 3 stars against a proper th9 (level 3 xbows,level 7 WT ,level 6 AD and level 7&8 walls)
second giants may be working for you in th8 but th9 they are useless unless they are with hogs
third level 6 balloons with minions or dragons are a guaranteed 2 star against proper th 9 with a decent base layout i.e anti hog base, two centralised ad and 1 xbow pointing up
finally you gonna use balloons alot more than you think but upgrade giants first

First of all, no kidding. I said that because I'm a new TH 9, and in the context of war, I would be taking on new TH 9s who are significantly weaker than me because generally, people tend not to max 8.

Second, Giants are useless? Are you kidding? Giant/Healer is one of the most common farming armies for Town Hall 9s to attack Town Hall 8s with (I know this for a fact because I've lost millions in loot to lvl 6 Giant/Healer raids in my time at TH 8).

Third, your third point is nonsense. You just made a very good point about lvl 6 balloons being a good composition combined with Dragons in a Dragloonion attack, but then said to upgrade Giants to lvl 6 first with no reasoning.

What the heck is anyone supposed to take from this reply? Lol

Upgraded loons first and am very happy with them. Just pushed to masters with loonion and it was pretty easy. It is a solid 2 star on developed th9 or th10 bases once you get the hang of it. Also, they are very useful in CWs as a dragloonion army has the potential to 2 or 3 star th10 bases provided the AD isn't maxed.

A nice farm comp is 16 loons and the rest minions. Will eat up a early Th9 or less base.

Giants are great for farming but pretty useless in wars or pushing. I have seen a few exceptions to that though!

In early th 9, you will need quite a lot elixir for camps, SF, 2nd drill, lab upgrade. Then you'd better upgrade giant first because it is cheaper. Once you nearly done with those elixir stuff, you can start using balloonion to farm gold or DE. But i think you better get those minion to lvl 4 at least.

Simply do whatever you use the most. Personally i did balloons because they are so effective against other TH9's

Simply flip a coin and see... Head = Giant. Tail = also Giant.

Thing is, giant is much cheaper for farming. And unless you have tons of spare gems, you'll farm more often than do clan wars/push.

Giants as u are an early th9 they will be good for early elix farming but loonians is great for late th9 farming

Personally I would say bloons first, but that of course depends on your needs.

I do not think giants have much place in wars tbh. If you take away cost and train time there are better options at th9 like gowiwi/gowipe. I have never seen giants three star a decent th9 in war and defenitely not done better than gowiwi/gowipe wouldve done. Bloons are slightly more useful in war, but still not one of the most common strategies.

For pushing bloons are fantastic, as th9 they can take you to champions where as you wouldnt push with giants very high.

For farming giants are great for DE in combination with barch and ofc there their build time and price is a great advantage. Loonion is great for storage farming a bit higher in crystal, although army build time is longer.

I prefer farming all out with barch, usually give me enough DE same time if I just farm enough and its the quickest build time.

For me, bloons level 6 have added a whole new option and attack style, where as giants more have been a good addition to farm troops. I liked having bloons first since it takes more practise to master it, than to use giants.

If DE farming is your main thing then giants might be best though.

sorry i ddnt explain well.when i said giants are useless i meant in wars,yea i agree that giants are more of a farming troop.the reason i said do giants first its because of their cost and training time.they will allow you to save alot of elixir unlike balloons where you will have to find bases with almost 300k elixir for you to make a huge profit.being early th9 shouldnt stop you taking on tough th9 bacuase you will have the same troops and army camp as them,you should take on tough th9 because one day your clan will need that extra star to win from and your will make alot of DE from taking on those tough bases.i ddnt mean to be rude or offend if i did,i send my apologies

Giants... cause they are awesome.

Second quickest purple build time (per housing space) and a great donation for your clanmates.

I have watched one of my clan mates three starring maxed out TH9 bases with loons and the new lava hound troop. I used balloonions for DE farming before I got to TH9 and since I have lvl 4 minions, my first upgrade (that I am 1.3 mil away from right now) is going to be loons. I posed out the question to my clan and it was overwhelming that they all said loons first.

Loons are wonderful CC donations for us as most of our lower players in TH7 and 8 use all out drag attacks and maxed out loons are the most helpful troop donation besides a lvl 3 drag. Giants are a great addition and a huge buff and that is why they will be second... but for a clan that does a lot of wars, loons are the preference IMO.

Why I pick giants because lesser time to create and good in tank. I go for simple farming and less cost & time...
