TH8 - Hybrid 'False Center' Base

Hello, I am a base-builder that has never 'showed-off' his work. I would like to begin my base-building career by showing off a TH8 base that I made. I like to name this kind of base a 'False Center Base'. Throughout the in-depth explanation of the base you will learn why I call it that. Hope you enjoy.

So this is the base at a first glance. If you have not noticed it uses a lot of inside and outside funneling. This is a good defense vs Giants, Golems and Hog riders.

I will start explaining by showing the bottom of the base. This is a great way to double-funnel/hidden-funnel Giants or Golems. The hidden Tesla will not be there till the player places the item. From the tesla to either Cannon is 10 blocks which would take 7 seconds to walk. Meaning that 1 cannon would do a lot of damage to the attacker (Both Cannons reach troops).

In Yellow I have shown the first path attackers take, starting from the Tesla then going to the cannon. This is the better.

In the 2nd I showed the alternative way attackers have attacked which is trying to avoid the Tesla but being caught by it.

On the top of the base you can see the wizard tower's range in yellow and the Mortar's in red. These defenses are protecting each other. From the top it is extremely difficult to attack with many troops due to the splash damage. The Archer Tower's do not allow for troops to be sniping away the buildings (Shown in Blue).

Now, for the reason I name this type of base a 'False Center' is because when a troops gets to the 'False Center' of the base (Marked in Black). The troops will stay in it. He will go around in a circle before going to the TH. With a 'False Center' it is very easy and useful to funnel. The best Funneling spots on this base is marked in red. The Yellow indicates where the troops will walk.

Sadly, due to lack of money I cannot record the raids that have raided me. I will try to do that in the future so that you get a better explanation.

The constructive criticism I will add is I think you need to protect your AD a bit better. By having the AD exposed like this I believe you are leaving your base vulnerable to an attack from balloons, minions, and dragons. I would think it works well on the ground troops though. Looks cool! Clash on

I agree, I was already looking at a way to integrate it more. I have noticed though hat over the past month only 1 Air Raid happened for my TH8.

Too weak against air units. You need to protect those air defenses.

Funneling looks good. I would make 1 suggestion though. Instead of putting spring traps between the WTs and gold storages, make a wall opening and put them between the WT and cannon on the left, and WT and AT on the right. But if giants really took that yellow path that you have shown, then your funneling is good.

Any chance you can give more protection to the DE storage?

Well thought out base. You're in APOTHEOSIS too, land of Sparhawk :) don't like the use of X-junctions, means four way access though walls aren't really useful nowadays :p Nice funnelling and good trapception mechanic :) Good job overall.

Another point I would like to raise is I think the DE is a little too unprotected for my liking.

If you looked at one of the points in the base (the bottom picture) you would see that it is a lot more protected than it looks ;) The troops would need to go through some defenses :)

I guess I was looking at it from a BARCH perspective which neither includes giants or golems.....

Very cool design. This looks more like a trophy base to me though, with the exposed storages and all that. Does a good hybrid base exist for TH8?

although this base is extremely good against ground troops and you get 5* for that category, i think air attacks is where ur lacking. any attacker could destroy this base with loonian or mass drag, you might want to find a way to fix that

ratings 1-10

Overall: 7.8 air defense is what hurt the overall.
Funneling: 10:D i really like this part
Spread out splash (triangulated mortars wiz towers...): 8, not perfect but good
Air defense: 2 very exposed, but there triangulated
clan castle: 9 centralized, hard to lure, still possible
trap placement: 10, no traps seem to go to waste

base looks too small...not enough empty spaces.

Generally TH8 Bases are not too wide due to the wall amount and the defense amount. If I am understanding you wrong, let me know.

If I were attacking you I'd start from the top destroying your exposed ad. Deploy healers and go south wrecking buildings. I'd suggest moving your SAM to the top.

I like it for the most part. I dont really mind the problems with air defense because air attacks arent all that common until you start pushing higher and most giant-healer attacks are th7 so they wont really be able to do well against any th8. What I dont like is the exposed de. Yes, there is funneling involved there, but that wont stop barch at all. I could get all your de with 40-50 troops.

Part of deciding on a base is first figuring out what you want to protect, as you simply cannot protect everything. This is why people decide on prioritizing Gold/DE or whichever is your top priority. This one obviously does not protect DE as well.

Overall however, it's a solid hybrid. Great funneling, good against giants, but still open-ended for BARCH and other strategies.

This sums it up for me.

I am getting close to the end of my time at TH8, and my priority now is protecting DE, which this does not seem to prioritize.

The elixir storages and air defense are way too vulnerable

Subscribed. Currently using trapception but may give this a go. I would alter a few things, primarily the AD. May try it as a war base too. Will let you know how that goes if I do.
