Can the average player max out TH9 in less than one year?

At 3m gold per L10 wall, I say that it is not possible...most people can barely loot 3m per day...so even excluding all defence upgrades and L9 walls, it would take the best part of one year solid playing just to do L10 walls...

So with that said, is TH10 going to come?

The gemmers are probably getting bored

People prematurely jumping up to TH10 would finally give the average, solid TH9 player a target with a LOOT BONUS!! Would be nice to not just see penalties every battle huh?! lol

I have a long way to go at TH9 but do at least have all skull walls with a couple of L9 / L10 blocks...Still have millions to spend on defences as well...

I would say yeah, pretty close to it at least. Just depends on your definition of an average player. I consider myself average. I play everyday but really no more than an hour total or so. It's split up throughout the day. Maybe 5 raids a day during the week, 1 in the AM, 1 at lunch and then a few in the evening. On the weekends I maybe get 8-10 raids in a day. I've spent a total of $30 on the game. I started pretty much at the end of July and am just about maxed out on TH8. So, Id say I will likely be just about maxed on TH9 by the end of July this year (probably not walls). The game does not consume my life and I haven't really spent much on gems so id say that pretty average.

If I do nothing but play CoC all day I might make 6m if the loot is particularly good (a few 300k raids but mostly 200k) but to average that every day solid for a month (and longer) is not possible, never mind 8m per day, every day...

I'm not sure I can believe that number unless you know of a place to raid with a farming army and clean 1m+ gold net profit every hour...Highly unlikely (even zero farming was not this good)

I am including maxing walls in my definition of maxing out TH9. The walls are clearly the money sink with L10 costing 750m - to go from L8 walls to L10 walls would cost 1bn gold which is of course more than you will have spent on your entire upgrades so far in the game! To put that into perspective, its taken you since July to get to where you are today and yet you need to loot all that gold and then some to complete L10 walls....

It is actually very easy to max the defences - would just take a couple of months of constant upgrades.

Well we're talking about hardcore farmers so they play CoC all day. I'm just saying if you play everyday and farm 8million then it's possible to get level 9 and 10 walls in 4 months which in your question is possible to max out TH9.

Average player shouldn't give a ♥♥♥♥ about maxing walls. First max your defenses and everything else while keeping walls at where it takes at least 2 wallbreakers to break through.

By then, upgrading only walls would get incredibly boring and you'll quit. But not really - SC knows that people play for continuous upgrading, so they'll just keep adding stuff and get you more stuff to do.

8m seems a too high to me even for an extremely active farmer. That would take either a crazy good string of luck with bases, or someone boosting the training speed on their barracks, or being extremely sleep deprived.

Just to break it down, to get 8m in a day with 2 raids per hour (average non-gemmed training speed) you would need to average 200k every raid for 20 hours straight. Obviously gemming barracks completely changes things, 8m a day with 4x boosted barracks is very doable.

Okay. I follow that. I know how to do the math. The question, given what you've said, is, even if you play all day, can people consistently loot 8m+ per day. Just saying the number does not mean its possible.

My thoughts too.

When I said average, i actually meant a non gemmer ... so although the odd stint of barrack gemming would be cool, spanking 1,000s of gems per day to keep your army on 4x throughput is not really what i see as average.

I think the average farmer is doing between 2-5m per day...on average...some days they may do 6m+ some days they might not be able to log on, but over the course of a week they will net about 20-30m give or take...this is just from my experience and that of my clan - but I think it more realistic than 8m...and we are very active!

Say you play 12 hours of CoC a day. Your cycle is attacking every 30 minutes.

That makes 12*2= 24 attacks a day.

Now, I imagine you spend elixir to attack. We'll be very conservative and say you're VERY GOOD and thus loot 200k elixir every attack. You spend 50k elixir with cheap troops. So you have 150k elixir profit on each attack. Again, you're like a god of raiding this way.

So 24*150,000=3,600,000 elixir a day, if you don't gem but play like a god of war

Ares is too strong. I retract my 8million and lower it to 4.8million since your math is godly.

i have been playing since oct last year, and im lvl 91 almost maxed all defences, and spent about 10k gems.. i imagine i will be maxed, with all buildings in about 1-2 months.. :) i am a hardcore farmer, farmed about 5m today though..

Sorry...2m-5m per day is not "average", that is pretty hardcore there. You would need to be raiding all day to get those numbers around 5m. Even 2m per day requires several hours of play.

12hrs a day is a lot...unless you dont have a job, go to school, are not in a relationship, etc, but lets assume its accurate for those die hards out there...I know there are a few! lol

What your numbers dont account for is the cost of searching for a fight at 750 a pop...I have spent 100k before looking for a fight with more than 100k on offer...(you keep thinking "the next one will be the mother load...ok, the next one will... alight this one will....FFS, if this next one is not more than 100k im gona fling this fookin iPad!...okay, maybe im over reacting, this one has to be over 100k....") and if we are being honest, I think the average fight has a value of around 150k because it is not possible to consistently find 200k bases and loot everything from them...

But as you highlight, even in this perfect day of raiding, hitting 8m is super difficult.

I dont entirely disagree... Farmers tend to be the more active players so on the whole, probably play more than the rest of the CoC players...

I easy make 2m a day and often do 4m...sometimes I will manage 6m if I am left alone in a dark room all day and most of the night :-)

I think I am concluding that it is not possible to max out TH9 in one year....

I think that within 2013 TH10 will be released though so it will get interesting

Well, I can attack 4-6 times per hour thanks to queueing up troops and finding 200k-400k loots in the mines that requires only 10-50 goblins. I could easily make it to eight million per day if my storages just weren't capped to 4 million as a th7.

raiding 5m+ a day is not a problem...I think what I am probably not articulating very well is that doing it consistently is not likely...put another way, how many days a month can a hardcore player raid 5m+ ...if you think 30 days, we are going to have to agree to disagree...And I actually do think it would take all day - 7-10hrs of solid play...500k-700k per hour is probably the average score...the days of 1m an hour are long gone unless you know something I dont??!

5m gold per day is a tall order for th9 farming let alone 8m..

Minus off the search cost, inability to captured all resources from resolute defending and losses incurred from people attacking you - it all added up.

Saying that the average player plays 2-3 hrs a day, the walls would become too overwhelming. The defenses could be maxed though! :)

I agree. This is exactly how I play. Every new and then I will pay special attention to walls. Just maxed out cannons and mortars and in between maxing archer towers I'm focusing on level 7 walls. Which takes forever.

For sure, it's been 6 months for me (mostly with with 3 workers but 5 now), and i'm level 84. A clan member is the same level as I, and he started 4 months ago (started with 5 workers). I see myself maxing in another 2-3 months (depends on new updates).

If you don't spend 10h/day or more, then you must be referring to something similar to sub-zero farming where you spend a few goblins to about half of your camp troops per raid on abandoned bases' collectors. But this is usually easier for non-th 9 bases. Ex 2 is also mainly non-th 9s, unless you are one of the elders there. But I notice your account was formed in Feb, and this is your first post. Would you like to share with us how you can achieve 5m+ without spending more than 10h/day? I'm sure this will help boost your clan's prestige immensely if you can provide some concrete evidence. Whatever he is claiming is so 5 months back. Raiding 5 mil in 10 hours as a TH9 is a myth nowadays with all the new updates/troops/defenses/buildings. I don't believe this ♥♥ unless you make a 10 hour video recording of it.

I personally think it's IMPOSSIBLE to no gem max out a base unless you started early on after release. I'll say October 2012 and earlier. With constant updates and extremely long upgrade times late game , I just don't think it's possible.

After reading this thread, I'm so gonna max out everything including collectors(yes to lv11) so that i can lessen my burden at th9..
no loot bonus against anyone, but everybody else has loot bonus on you.. Thats tough.

but on a serious note, check out the bases of ro8star, rottnone, wolfz etc. they have been farming for a few months and their bases speak of what is possible for a busy adult with a full time job, family and other responsibilities farming in this game without shelling out more than $40max so far.

Addressing the original question that OP posed....

if you play for 2-3 hrs, you play really just for 15-20 mins in raids while waiting for the rest of the time for troops to train. If you employ all four barracks in training and raid every 20 mins with full troops, that is around 6-9 raids per day. If you are lucky to hit a couple of 300s and rest 150k avg, you will easily make 1.2 mil to 1.8 mil depending on where you are trophy range is as well as time of the day.

But, if you plan your attacks in 5 min breaks over a period of 5 hrs, you will make much bigger loot per day.

This will further be highlighted by the TH7 Lightning Thieves who receive a +50% bonus against you. Thus, I fully support the statement of maxing out TH8 (full max-out, especially barracks + collectors since TH9 has significant elixir sinkholes) before progressing to TH9. Unless of course TH10 arrives. :cool:

I'm farming pretty well at TH8 haha, busy day I normally farm 2~4m, weekend can easily get 5~6mil no problem.
but as what everybody has pointed out, its th9 that is the problem to farm 5m+ a day haha.
Anyway, those defensive vids can be done quite fast, 3mins to record, minor editing 5 mins max, then upload already.

I initially plan to just max out barracks, dark barracks and everything else except gold/elixir collectors and move on to th9, but since th9 is the end of the journey, and once I get to th9, it will be hectic with dual xbow, lv6 troops, archer queen, 4th tesla, more archer tower, I might as well lessen my burden now at th8 :)

And having maxed out collectors is quite nice actually
1) If you are going to be inactive, and wish to farm for trophy without fighting, then just push your TH in your base, place all your level 11 collectors one row out of your defensive fire for lazy farmers to raid. Each raid you will gain trophies easily since lazy farmers will just farm the collectors and leave.

2) higher level = more hp to tank = more time for clustering for splash damage to hit.

3) additional 300k+ Income per day, which can help in the long run

Yeah, if th10 arrives, it will be a different story.

Thanks for all the feedback. I dont think it is possible for an average, non gem player. I think that a hardcore farmer would also struggle...if I had to put money on it, i'd say that without gem use, it is not possible to max TH9 in 365 days...unless it was your job to do so - ie you could basically do 9-5 every day, of every week, of every month, with no interruptions.

For those that are averaging high (5m+) loots each and every day, well done! I did 6m yesterday but I finally turned my ipad off at 1am...not a normal day (wanted to upgrade an X bow to L3), nuff said.

Final thought...

Given that I think most are agreeing that the average TH9 player will not be able to max out in 1yr, do you think SC will release TH10 (and associated upgrades) this year??

Here's the math if your lucky

200k gold per raid

=200k x 5 raids
=1mil gold
=5 raids x 8mil gold storage (at max)
=40 x 200k gold raids per day to max a max level gold storage
=HARD CORE FARMING!!!!!!

I think most people are expecting that there are 5 builders, 4 busy working and one always sleeping and waiting to lay bricks...if this was not the case, then as I think you might be intimating, players would max out storages and have no way of spending the loot so all their hardcore activity (lol, I will never grow up!) will be wasted...

At TH9 with some upgrades taking 14 days to complete, if you made all builders busy, it would be very easy to have no free builders for a few days unless you were an excellent project manager! So although I don't think you meant it, good point!

you don't need to be an excellent project manager just to build a simple planner using excel spreadsheet for yourself..

Come on, the average person is no going to do that and upgrades are often driven by available loot and storage limits. Only those project manager types are going to put a plan on a spreadsheet and stick to it..which is all good...just not indicative of "normal" gameplay...in my opinion

Did you include
1) Lv5 CC
2) Lv4 Dark Barrack
3) Lv7 Tesla
4) Archer Queen

I calculated a total of 77 days without including lv5 cc, lv4 dark barrack, lv7 tesla, AQ haha

Maybe I miss out some buildings somewhere..

Anyway the results very close haha, differ 1.8 days only :p

Didn't include anything, neither did include th 2nd barrack, maybe that was it.

I considered ever de troop maxed, and both heroes are maxed too. Just talking about defense, lab upgrade to lev7, and the new storages.

6mill a day for th8 is not that hard. However, for th9 thats a different story it will take alot of work lol.

This issue is the lvl10 walls which are insane. So for the "average" farmer with average raiding skills and free time etc this is not even close to possible. For some big farmers this is probably a very tall order, though i bet there are a few in the coc world who are on their way to completing this feat.

I think the thread went a bit off tangent since I know that given enough gold, it is technically possible to upgrade everything...the issue is raiding and keeping enough gold in the given time...and having the required amounts as soon as builders are free...

I agree with the last post that it is not possible but do howe4ver think that SC will introduce TH10 to keep the gemmers happy...and those lovely players who upgrade prematurely cos they get bored. I love raiding TH9 with L6 walls...yum yum, gimme your loot

@Jun: Clan Castle 5? It's a rumor, not confirmed, so you shouldn't include it in your calculations

I have been playing since around x-mad. My base is a couple weeks away from moving to th9 cause I have nothing left to upgrade. My lvl 8 walls should be done by then.

I easily think that I can max out th9 if I stay at my same rate of looting if nothing got added to the current system which obviously is not the case.

Now whether I will keep the pace is another question, but to answer the op, yes a non gemmer could do it..

The big boys(excluding me, a lowly th8) are talking about end game th9 with lv10 walls which cost 3mil each, and at th9 where looting is much harder than at th9.

Just telling you first in case you get flamed badly by the big boys :p

ot: 125 more lv8 walls for me :p

I think max put defences yes - I'm 4 from being done .... I have used gems to finish some builds but I've never gemmed res and the most I've spent on speeding a build is 400....then it was because my stores are full with a day or two to go or I needed to sleep and the build was finishing in a few hours.

Maxing walks - phew to lvl 8 yes to lvl 9 maybe but lvl 10 no way IMO

But what do you need walls for? Above lvl 8 there is very little practical difference - low cups they will die at your walls, high cups the heroes will break through anyway

I understand exactly what I am saying. I understand the loot penalties, and how much each lvl wall costs.

I research and put as much effort into this game as the big boys you reference. I respect them and have used their findings and experiments to improve my games efficiency greatly.

I am still th8 because these people learned the hard way and told the community to not make the same mistake.

I still believe, that it is possible, but not probable. As I know I probably can't keep up the same loot I am currently getting when I move to th9. Even though one member in my clan seems to be doing fairly well as th9 so who knows, might just play more then me.

Side note: new loot bonuses coming may or may of help this greatly.. But thread isn't about calculating in mechanics we are not familiar with yet.

Yeah I hear you. There is limited point in walls when people are coming at you with raged PEKKAs and Dragons...they are gona get in!

My real point in asking this question was to try and see how long people think it will take to max TH9 because I am wondering if SC will introduce TH10 before the majority of TH9 players are maxed out...I can only conclude that given most seem to agree it will take over a year for TH9 to end, and the odds of SC keeping TH static for this length of time, that we will see a new TH before the majority of players are even close to TH9 end game.

Alternatively, they could just add content to TH9 which has been the way forward this past few updates...more walls, more defences, more units...etc

I sincerely hope they hold off TH10 for a long time - it's not really going to bring us anything new that the last two updates havn't brought us - it will just introduce a more severe loot penalty.

So yeah more stuff please, new TH no thanks!

5 million in 10 hours equals 500k per hour... Too sloooooow..

If u expend all ur 200 army per battle to get 200k gold with 20 mins training time per battle. In 1 hour u should earn at least 600k..(3 battles per hour)

imo.. should aim for 1 million per hour..

Yes except that you will not always find 200k and you will spend roughly 100k searching and on spells (if you use any). So therefor the average is 500k per hour. DUH! ;)

Yes you may occasionally get lucky and find that village with 300k+, but you may also be unlucky and spend 100k before you find a village with more than 150k coins available. So again the AVERAGE is roughly 500k per hour.... DUH! :p

Btw.. U should not be using all 200 troops per battle. 1 troop per 1000 gold is minimum....

I don't believe in averages. I prefer videos. You TH9 guys can say you guys can farm 500k gold per hour (for 10 hours) despite the penalty, but I'm a seeing is believing person and call ♥♥ on everything until I see it.

Are you saying that you dont believe that its possible for a TH9 to farm 500k per hour?

It has been explained over and over. With 3 raids per hour it is possible to average about 500k per hour give or take. Its not an exact number but it is easily possible to raid 400k-600k in an hour.

Very well, what trophy range would that be? I can borrow a friend's TH9 village and see for myself.

At around 14k-17k trophies I can find 180k TH8s and 200k TH9s with 10-30 skips. Here is a video of me farming. I made this video for my clan members, I even left in the amount of times I hit next so that my clan mates would get an idea of TJ's TH9 farming.

In the old days (oct/nov?) farming 2M an hour was doable with some good villages in there, but 1M an hour was very possible. I maxed out my TH8 base quite easily back then.

Then... forum modding came around, and sadly, if I do 1 attack a day, I'm lucky.

But, today (TH9 1600-1700 trophies) I actually played about 9 hours. I started with literally no resources (100-200k each and 10k DE) and just started archers lvl 6 (7.5M Elix), an Arch tower 11 (5M gold) and am almost at 40k DE to start (Told you I'm way behind) my archer queen lol.

It's possible, but not something I want to do daily. When I was top-50 I would play 6-8 hours a day I'd say on week days and more on weekends, but is not something my life could sustain.


I think if someone started brand new today without the benefits we had last summer/fall, it would be very hard to max everything TH9 could build now, let alone including the new stuff that will come out. If someone really stuck with it, and didn't get bored, sure, but I think human nature would be against them.

Thanks - this is my exact thinking. It is possible to hit high loots in ONE day if you really try and are left alone to do so with minimal distractions. I myself managed to raid enough for a L3 X bow on the day I started this thread (I saved over 6m gold)...BUT I could not do that every day and even if I did, I'm not disciplined enough to manage my builder complete times to coincide with hitting 8m gold or before (so as to not waste gold)...If I was able to manage builders in this way and played for 9hrs each day, I can safely say that I would not be the average CoC player! lol

PS - I get 10k DE each day with two maxed drills going...you did very very well to get 30k - what T range are you swimming in?

It is more than possible - as a one off. I did 6m with only 3 working barracks. My clan mates can confirm cos i moaned about how slow my build times were...a lot!

I also decided to sink 3m gold into my walls as I was doing quite well as the day went on...I came across a number of 200k+ bases with loot all in mines...makes a big difference when only 40 troops can swoop 200k...

anyway, trust me, its possible...but not, in my opinion, sustainable over a prolonged period of time - like a week, or a month, let alone all year!

I am clearly doing something wrong, but I wish I was able to get a hoard like this on a daily basis, can I ask two questions, what is your troop set up, and what is your trophy range? If of course your okay with letting me in on these secrets ;) because I feel my army slacks but I'm not sure where! I use a mix of archers, giants and wbs, I'd this helps with added tips.
