Sorry all I haven't been on the forums in a good while (tends to happen to me after updates lol). You all have awesome feedback and ideas. And they all make a ton of sense! I'll edit the OP ASAP to add your opinions and suggestions. This idea could easily be implemented in a variety of ways as you are all proving. My only goal here is to have some version of CW Tournaments added into the game : )
I agree with the other two hundred posts, this is a good idea. However, The fact that it is 16 clams is a huge amount, and your solution isn't all of that great al that's what i'm here for. If people have to search at the same time and sixteen clams need to search at the same time, it would most likely crash an internet server in clash of clans. A solution is to start a war, pair two clans as the first round as a blind draft, then the winning 8 clans move into a bracket, and so on with your idea. Otherwise, great idea!

I like it but if there are too many clan wars going on it will be difficult to matchmake clans not in the tournament. Maybe make the war with less clans and less time. Overall good post
I very like this idea, please add it as soon as possible.
The system can be tournament (knock out) or league (just like soccer league or olympic) maybe for league is longer than tournament.
A suggestion, is it possible to seperate between tournament/league war and regular clan war? So when we play the tournament/league war, we still can participate the regular war.
Another sugestion, A new stat "Tournaments Won" could be added. I think we just need to seperate the stat because it will look more prestigious.

Make this known on the start tourney button and have the ability for the button only appear during those specific hours of the day.honestly, I would suggest that the search last a full 24 hours (basically all day on the first of the month) to accommodate for different time zone clans. Yes, the search is longer meaning that clans who war everyday would miss an extra day, but it could be worth it if it means that more clans can participate and get matched fairly. This suggestion is a give or take in terms of how long a search lasts as there will probably never be a number that everyone is happy with, but aren't all things that way?
4. After a tourney is over, if you go to your war records page, would each war show up or would their be a view tourney where you can see all the war stats? What about the info on the clan description? Would the number of war wins change or would they add a tourney won section? Or both?
5. How would these wars and winning the tournament affect clan experience. I'd love to work with you on numbers if needed.
6. I can see how 1st and 2nd place clans would be decided, but what about third place? To get to the final war in the tournament, each of those clans beat 2 other clans that have never faced each other. Would you create a final bracket to have the two losing clans from the 3rd round fight for third? Or would it be bases on stars accumulated throughout tourney?
i will always be in support of this idea and would love to hear your thoughts regarding my edits, even if you don't like them. Having once a month instead of once a week wars could make them more exciting to most clans and may encourage a higher level of participation, making it much more likely for each clan to find a match.

I had just some more Suggestions i wanted to share:
1. for the Tournament i had thought of a Group Tournament where each Clan get Points for winning a war and then get Ranked based on their points. It would be so a little nicer for the other Clans as well who has lost in the First round so they have still some chances to be in top 5.
2. Another thing that i think would be nice is to have Groups of 4 Clans in which the Clans should play against the others ( even 2 clan wars between each 2 clans would be Nice)
3. to making the Searching time for Tournaments even less i suggest that, we can make Tournaments offer. it can be so that one clan can set some base Rules, how the Participants Clans should be ( i. e. 20 players with 6 th 10 and 10 th 9) and set the time as well when the Tournaments is going to start and every Co- / Leader can whatch this list and participate in one or another Tournament.
4. Other than Clan war Tournaments i would love to see the Rematch Button. It happend a lot that our clans lost or get a tie in war at last moments with a lot of bad luck. so I think it would be nice to play a rematch war if the other Clan is agree as well.
I hope to see the Clan war Tournament any time soon;)
They should have this option available once or twice per season. Each war should last 2 days per battle, just like normal wars. There should be a featured tournament, being shown atop the leaderboards, one per clan level. This would use up lots of storage, so maybe just the most recent battles. Spectating clans should not be able to watch live attacks, however.
I tink this idea is great how ever You need to prevent one thing.. no memebers of ANY CLAN can left the clan and join a clan in the tournament. This is to prevent SPIES.. How .. ok Team 1 and Team 2 get matched, then Team 3 & 4 get in war, And at the end Team 1 & 4 Won they war now they are matched.. so a member of team 4 goes to Team 2, and see the war records, and now he LEARNS the war bases, traps, or war strategies of the Team 1...

Well, when I came up with this idea over a year ago, I was sure that I was far from the first to think of the idea. I decided to make this thread because there weren't any other threads on it at the time. So, being one of the first tourney idea threads, and with so many forumers dedicating time to helping improve this thread over the year, I'm very proud of how far this idea has gone : )Quote:

Nice idea - with a few problems ...
1- too complicated. This game is all about having a simple interface with easy to understand mechanics.
2 - Keep times standard. Just have it all run the same as a normal war - with normal war times - normal prep days - you cant go having 12 hour prep day s- then start the war when everybody is asleep... All of our clans - and all of our players - play from 8 to midnight ... thats it - thats when we war... if you go messing with odd prep days and changing times around it will hurt us - and likely lots of other players who have set play times in their busy schedules...
3- poor handling of loot - bonuses will be too large to fit into clan castle loot storage; castle loot will have to be quadrupled at a minimum to hold the giant th10 loot bonuses that will exist here.
4- Loosing clans will be stuck in a very long event that will ruin their entire game for almost a week... Once you are out -- you are done - and should be able to search for another war.
*Why not add a Second War tab. -- allow clans to run normal wars - and a second Tournament war at the same time... Simply take the Attack icon - and the Sword icon -- merge them... Put Multiplayer -Goblin war - Clan war - and Clan Tournament in one screen.
Heck you could go CRAZY and allow higher level clans to run multiple wars at the same time... Let them run a 10x10 with all their th9's -- a 15x15 with all the brand new th4's -- Allow them to run a 'test war' with no loot bonus - that doesnt count in the clan record - where they can put new, untested players.... There are tons of things you could do if you added a new upgraded 'attack' tab...
Here are some points I agreed upon and added few suggestion
1. Add CWT (Clan War Tournament) Tab
2. CWT time and rules are just like ordinary CW
The only thing is Leader or Co to register team before certain date each month to participate.
Upon registration, system will randomly place team on table.
3. Single Elimination
4. 20vs20 (only TH10 & TH9 category respectively)
5. Tournaments are monthly (15rounds max depends on participation)
Winning rewards
1. Profile achievement, Clan profile achievement /and Tournament Leaderboards
2. Various monthly
Free participation with gems to be win or paid to participate with great prizes to be win
Tbh I don't really care about the prizes, as a gamer, just wanted the excitement and to know the best.

This is a great idea, would be a lot of fun! Only problem would be the matchmaking...it's hard to find balanced wars already, i can't imagine how it would be to find 16 clans with same troops walls heroes etc..

This game needs this.
However, some recommendations how it should play out:
1. SC creates a CLAN TH
This will be where loot is placed after each regular war.
2. Clan War Win Bonus
It is not a requirement. An option is placed for the leader/co-leaders of a clan to elect to place a percentage of war win bonus from each player to be placed into the TH.
3. Entering a tournament
The clan must use only Clan TH loot to enter into tournament.
Select from 10 vs 10, 15 vs 15 etc
Tournament dates are set so no worries about having to search.
Matchups should be filtered by: clan lvl and matchup as close as possible to x TH10, x Th9, etc
4. Player war lock
Just like in regular war. You will be blocked for the tournament length. So hopping around will screw you.
Only players listed in CLAN at entry are allowed to war.
5. Tournament style will be brackets
War win bonus as usual
Tournament winners should get either gems or a nice 20% loot bonus.
Big deal? Get your clan featured for the week. Based on total destruction, average war stars, etc. So the highest clan for that tournament week gets the GLORY!! Also, would be option to select which replay you want featured.
6. As winner of a tournament, free entry on next elected tournament.
Please make this happen!! This needs to happen!!

Dude this is one of the best ideas I've ever seen. It would be such a shame if Supercell doesn't add this.
Reading through it sounds like a really good idea, especially for the clans who prefer to war on a regular basis! Maybe, fingers an' all crossed, there will be a limit set to how many dragons players actually use per battle!! 2 in camps and 1 in the castle should be enough.....getting ♥♥♥♥*d off with the clan wars which result in a 3 star all dragon smash....where's the tactics?....where's the need?
I just voted for idea is good and some work could help!
Here are my suggestions:
1. Tournament matchmaking: Yes, a good workaround is that tournaments will begin at specific times, 6 times a week. An example could be Monday 4am and 4pm GMT, Wednesday 6am and 6pm GMT and Friday 8am and 8pm GMT. There is a registration period, that begins 12 hours before the tournament begins and ends 30mins in advance, giving the system 30mins to form tournaments out of the clans that registered in last 11.5 hours. Clans who are warring or playing a tournament during registration period can register, given they would be free by the time tournament starts. I guess this would give a large enough pool.
2. Participants: Let us begin with tournaments of 8 clans instead of 16 for better matchmaking? Maybe a few months down the line it can be modified if people don't complain too much about unfair matches.
3. Tournament Format: The 8 clans play a typical 1-8 play off, no one is knocked out, everyone plays 3 wars to decide their place among 8. After 1st round of wars, we have top4 and bottom4. In second round, the winners of 1st round play among themselves, and so do the losers. In third round, we would have only 2 clans winning both wars, they can contest for rank 1and2, whom they just defeated can play for 3and4. and similarly remaining 4 will play for 5-8.
Bonus loots? rank1: 25% extra in all wars, rank2: 20%, rank 3:15%, rank4: 10%, rank 5:5%. rank 6,7,8 - 0%
What is the point of rank7-8 play off if they are going to get 0% bonus loot? rank 7 and 8 are those who just lost previous 2 wars. If the matchmaking is fair, these are probably the clans who lose a majority of their wars. It would be nice for 2 such clans to be matched so they have a chance of tasting victory.

Yes, that's a great idea! Just need to fix a tool to be able to make search faster and easyest ! For example you will add to the tool how many th10 , th9, th8, ect. and what tournament you will join 10vs10 or 15vs15 or more. Then the tool will calculate the strength of the clan once you say who will join the battle. And with this total strength will match clans with similar strength!

Q1: would you be able to view attacks of others in the bracket or just your current match up?
Q2: would you be able to change your base between eliminations?
(Personally I think starting from quarter finals would be preferable but I wouldn't complain either 8 or 16 would be cool)
After the new look level 11 walls update war matches have been ridiculously fast. Most matches happen within 60 seconds. So if 16 clans are participating...it should take about 6-7 hours. I can live with that.Quote:

Better subject than sneak peeks. Leagues are also good. Maybe easier to do. 8-16 clans each league clashing against each other. 2 first clans goes up to next league. I believe 10x10 war is better. You can chose your 10 best players in your clan. Match would be made based in TH, like Korea Tournament.
They haven't dealt with bunnies in regular war...and people bunch their panties.
People would grab their pitchforks and torches and march to SC headquarters if bunnies were costing people tournaments...
I for one would be in that mob.
Just don't think tournaments are a good idea unless SC man up and deals with bunnies. (yes botters always find a loophole and find another way to che@t )
But if SC would ban them for a say 6 months or a year...ppl might think twice before installing that software...
But then again that would cost them revenue...if SC has proven anything it's that profits are more important than a fair game.

Hell put this in before the th11 update this would be unreal lads it would just take it to a whole new level of competitiveness also for matching you can just show tournaments available and allow clans to join the tournament before it starts you wouldnt even have to limit the numbers to 16 then

Each clan would send a team of 10 with 4 th10s, 4 th9s, 2 th8s!
each team to enter would have a buy-in of $20 each! With the winner of each tournament getting a spot for regionals and so forth!
Potential sponsorships and higher level of competition! Final Tourney can be held at COC-con!
I really like the idea of having clan tournaments available for everyone, not just the top trophy clans, I agree with the time issue. I don't no if it would be possible, but maybe a tournament search option that would allow you to choice how long you would want the tournament to last? maybe a 1 week option?:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I really hope Clan Tournaments becomes a feature. Question though, would it be a bad idea to allow clans to organize their own tournament instead of it only being a random search?
I feel like this can open a lot of possibilities that would benefit Clash of Clans in a big way. Imagine not only friends and family setting challenges for each other during tournaments but also your local schools and companies willing to host a tournament because we are able to organize a tournament at will.
Now granted I understand to do this all clans participating have to be in the same weight class to make it fair. That's why i feel if SC can make clan weight visible for everyone to see, that would make things much easier.
Just a thought, not sure if anyone else mentioned this already but wanted to get everyone's thoughts.
I feel like that one war hopper is gonna seriously mess up someone's tournaments.
I'd also add an extra boost of clan XP for places 1-3, like 50, 100, 150.
Clans can't be in war and a tournament at the same time right? Don't know if you mentioned it, but I did't see it. Because I think that would be too much. Being able to war again normally after you lose though is good.

Although it sounds like a good idea, it caters only to the hardcore players, who have the time to commit to 6 days of play.
However, what makes CoC so special compared to other strategy games, is that it attracts so many occasional players, who weren't into gaming at all before CoC (myself included).
Hence, the next step for clan wars must cater to the occasional players as well.
My idea for clan wars would be some kind of league system, similar to the one we have for individual players, where successful clans get some additional loot bonus (we have other perks for wars already), when they succeed at a war and climb the league ladder (higher bonus with higher league).
I came here to put this suggestion on the boards, but it seems great minds think alike, and its already here. I think the idea of tournaments is a great one. Switches things up a bit, and could offer more ways to produce revenue for the designers. Truly hope this thread gets turned into reality. Teams would have to pay X gems to get into the tourney. The system would compare the team and automatically put them in a division.
Great Idea bro! I would like to add "Clan War Challenge" I mean a more specific clan war not just some random clan wars. Clan war challenge to a rival clan or whatever it wont be bias anyway since they can checkout the clan who make some challenge to them and they can decide whether they would accept it or not. Love this idea, and any that adds more to the clan war than just a quick loot-incentivized war!
But I would like a more comprehensive system that is more long-term. Please read and let me know what you think, thanks!
Here's the idea: to have a Clan War League system based on football/soccer leagues where clans would fight each other in different levels of leagues, trying to get promoted to a higher league or avoid demotion to lower league. Of course aside from prestige and long-term goals, an incentive of loot/gems would also be included in competing in and winning higher leagues.
Here's how it would work:
- Each league would have 8 clans who would fight each other once (or twice if you want to lengthen the process), once a week (so clans have time to do regular/non-league war if they want), so that's 7 weeks (or 14 if two wars for each clan) in one "season"
- There is one league at the top ("1st Division"), 4 "2nd Divisions", 16 "3rd Divisions", 64 "4th Divisions", 256 "5th Divisions" and so on, depending on the number of clans that want to be part of this Global Clan War Tournament; each new clan that joins the tournament would start at the bottom league
- the lowest division would have less leagues than the formula as there will rarely be the perfect number of clans involved; so the demotion/promotion numbers will be adjusted accordingly for the lowest division
- At the end of each "season", the top clan in each division would get promoted to a higher division with the 4 lowest clans from the higher divisions replacing them in the lower divisions
- Example: the 16 "3rd Divisoin" winners would replace each of the bottom 4 clans from the 4 "2nd Divisions"
- this system is based on the biggest online football/soccer management game called Hattrick, so it has worked and proven to be functional and fun
- The standard war size has to be set to be 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, etc. I'm sure SuperCell can figure out the most popular system. Alternatively, you can have multiple Global Tournaments for each size and you clan can choose which one they want to compete in based on their preference of war size
Why this idea would work:
- Gives clans an official system to compete with others, with long-term goals to trying to climb the divisions
- this is far beyond the current "league" system that no one really cares about aside from loot. no one really is competing with others in each league unless at the very high levels
- Incentive for SuperCell: encourages further use of gems to make your clan stronger to be able to win the highest divisions and be the champion
- I personally would have preferred a fair way to deal with this, but in these freemium games, you can't expect fairness to be the main priority
- of course heros must be available for these wars regardless of upgrading otherwise it would break the system
Another way to solve the immense search times is to make it only possible to make the war size a multiple of ten (10v10, 20v20, ...etc.)
I would think a week long, 8 clan tournament, would be better. And have consolation brackets so everyone can still war the entire time.

Great idea. I would suggest making the winner get 100% of loot won so double their loot. Just an idea
Maybe if you want to be in a tournament you can select the tournament and be put on a list so the when 16 teams that is on the list match the parameters the clans will be notified and the tournament can start. Then someone doesn't have to wait around for all 16 clans to be found.

Its a brilliant idea and one that Supercell should consider, this could mean greater prize money for clans as well as added XP
I like the 16 team idea but what about the possibility of fighting within clans, tournament matches. it sure how you would do it but the players would have to be given an even playing field, equal level everything. Perhaps that's too big of a additional option to add to the game, but it would sure be nice to settle differences.
Finding 2 clans to match can take a while but finding 16 would take ages
Ya, the idea of clan war tournament is very awsome , this will increse the activeness and no. Of members in the game and their interest too.I want this idea to be passed and very soon to be active in the game.
I like the idea but what happens to people that are inactive. Can you replace them when you booted them out during a clan war tournament?
I definitely see the need for tournaments. I've been playing Clash for almost 2 years and I am starting to lose interest in the game. My main thing that I and my clan mates love to do is clan wars. But, after 111th clan war victory you start to ask yourself what is the point. I liked when Clash came out with the xp for clan wars. This was a great attempt to improve clan wars. I think that great clan warriors should get the same recognition as trophy pushers. Maybe a bulletin showcasing all of the top clans for the month or so. Loot and xp only go so far as incentives to war. There needs to be more sport involved and bragging rights. I don't think this is feasible but I also think that players should be able to check out other clan wars going on. Being a spectator could be fun. Most importantly if tournaments do happen is that matchmaking has to be solid. No 9.5 town halls in a strictly town hall 9 pool, and no 8.5 in an 8 pool either. I don't mind if the search for a tournament lasts a day, I would like to see a fair matchup. I hope to see this idea generated so that I can ever so more bury myself in my bedroom playing Clash all day.

Supercell...i look forward to seeing this opinion come true, it must be added in the next game upgrade! Im sure supercell gotta be wondering why they haven't come up with such a thing all this while!. Brilliant write-up and explanation from the author!.
I think it is a good idea but unfortunately there will be a lot of water under the bridge before the war is complete. Players leaving, inactivity etc...
I think the idea sounds good. My suggestions to make this "better" would be:
- Wars would only last 12 hours, not 24. This would let the wars be finished sooner. People normally don't sleep 12 hours a day. 8 is about the average. That means that even if the war starts when you're asleep you should have plenty of time to make your 2 attacks when you wake up.
- There is a single prep day. That's right, I said it. One prep day. This would last the full 24 hours instead of the 12 hours that the wars themselves would last. This is to let people prepare to adjust their schedules as needed to make sure they make all of their attacks in each war. Any CC troops you donate during prep day stay throughout all of the wars.
The shorter war period, and single day of prep would mean this tournament would be over in 3 days, not 8 days.

Clan Wars Season Pass Tournaments
I have an idea about clan wars tournament. We can have a ranking system for clans per season just like their trophy count, but this time for promoting clan wars, clans would be ranked by their winnings in clan wars they had in a season. Of course, there should be a multiplier for clan war with more participating members, in other words, a 50vs50 war win should have more points than a 40vs40 and so on. In addition to the current rankings, there can be a local and global ranking list for clans based on their obtained scores in clan wars. In the end of season, top clans, might be awarded some gems or resources.
Great idea, I actually stumbled upon this when coming over here to suggest something similar. Also tought about a tournament, but a competition would also be great, so that every clan gets to battle eachother. 2 pointes for a win, maybe make draws possible (1point), and loss obviously 0 points. Would take some time, but for clans who are constantly in battle it wouldn't be a problem. Also you'd need less clans to get the same number of fights, ruling out the matchup problem, of at least improving it. I know this idea isn't worked out nearly as well as the thread starter's, but might be a nice inspiration for an idea that may be concidered by SC. It's basicly the same but a league instead of a tournament. Didn't read this entire topic so I'm sorry if someone else already came up with this.

TH Cap to Solve Match Making
The biggest issue you've got is the match making. I think a TH cap would fix that so that when you select a Tournament you also select the cap level you'd like to compete at. The cap would limit your hero level, troop level and defence level to the appropriate TH level. Match making simply becomes a numbers game, you need the correct amount of clans interested in the same tournament type. If you select clan members with defences and troops below the cap that's your choice but it has no effect on the matching.
This would require a third base layout tab to put your tournament villages. Would create a bit of a mess around troop training as well which I'm not sure how exactly to solve but at the moment I would suggest that it is done from the tournament screen and they go into the camps there but still training from your barracks queues and village resources. CC donations would also be capped with troops only available at higher TH levels capped at lvl1. Donation refund would include the lost resources for the level drop.
I believe this offers the competitive players the perfect arena to test their skills as nobody would have a tech advantage. Also they could shackle themselves at past TH levels to see if they can remember how to do it. Probably TH9 up only maybe down as far as TH7 just depends where the threshold is between everyone being 3 starred for a draw and there actually being a chance to win.

The bonus for 1/2/3/4 places should be bigger.(you just won four wars in a row, each getting harder and you only get 15% more...) Clan castles also cant hold enough loot for four war wins. Clans that lose early would be waiting a while. Players might leave at any time, so its risky. Overall, this idea is pretty buggy.
