yes, and level 7's will be worth it too. after that its up to you but i like the look of 8's and 9's better so I am working on getting my walls from 8 to 9.
Level 6 is absolutely nothing man... I got those done at town hall 6. 75,000 each is NOTHING compared to 500,000 each for level 8, which I happen to have 250 of :p Enjoy your cheap wall prices while you can
yes it was worth it...now get cracking on lvl 7...I'm half way done with mine atm
It is definitely worth it. Not just because of the higher health but also because it is more intimidating and so more people will skip your base instead of attacking it which is one of the best defenses.
Get level 7 at the very least, and 75k for a wall... i must be dreaming.

If lvl 6 walls were "hard" based on your gameplay, I wouldn't worry about them or anything higher. Just enjoy playing the game. Join a fun clan. Test fun attack strategies. The rest of the game will only become more of a painful grind for you.
For me, lvl 6 walls made a fairly big difference for me back when i got them at TH6-7ish. They also look alot better :)

For the OP, did you work exclusively on walls? At that rate you really upgraded only 2-4 walls per day. As you're a TH8, get all walls to 7 and at least the core to 8, if not all the walls to 8. Don't rush the TH anymore, max your elixir troops in the lab and at least the Minions as dark troops go, get your King to at least level 5 and make sure to max at least your Mortars and WT's, if not every defense, which you should probably do.
I'm currently farming level 8 walls at TH9 (shame on me lol) and I am upgrading 6-10 per day (depending on the day, my schedule, ect.) and I'm planning to do the core of my base (which is usually 40/44 walls) to level 9 and for those I'll probably upgrade just 3-5 a day. But on the bright side, I only have ~4 weeks max of farming walls exclusively!
Not sure what you are doing wrong, but you are definately doing something wrong. If you rushed your TH then their is your answer. I'm about to go to TH7 with everything save 1 collector maxed. My strategy has been to maximize builder efficiency, and not necessarily worry about the order of upgrades, though I think it is important to get labs and spell factory upgraded ASAP at each townhall level to allow for upgraded troops, and an outlet to dump resources to keep raiding to a minimum. I also do my level best to pile up resources and exploit shields as TH upgrading is under way. If I don't have max storage when it turns over in a couple days I'll be damn close. Stagger your upgrades a bit, both high value (in terms of quantity of resources needed) and lower value at your TH turn over. If you just blindly level up all the new buildings and log off at the end of the day leaving yourself flush with resources you're gonna get run over.
But I digress...two months is just way too long. If you find yourself getting run over constantly for resources before you can free a builder to spend them maybe you are in too high of a league? Maybe your base needs to be revamped?
Level 6 walls only took maybe a week for me, looks like you are having the th rusher's loot penalty problem. ;)
And like every single person before me said, enjoy the 75k cost per wall while you can ;)

Probably took the OP two months because he's a rushed TH8. I recommend you max TH8 before moving onto 9, so you can avoid digging yourself into a deeper hole.
