TH 9: At What Point is it Beneficial to Use a Hybrid Base?

Since TH 9 is a long grind of farming, is there a point where it is more beneficial to use a hybrid base when farming rather than a farming base (meaning the town hall is semi-protected with resources taking priority)?

I know this may seem like an odd question being that a free shield is keeping you resources almost 100% safe compared to 50% or 75% safe, but I find myself breaking shields quite often; I use my phone for a lot of other things other than Clash, and losing 10 or so trophies is annoying every time I log off for longer than 2 minutes. Yes, I realize league, defense level, etc. will matter, obviously I'm asking in a general sense.

Is there a point in my defense where it will be very rare for most of my resources to be taken by people?

Town hall 9 has one of the widest farming range (perhaps 2nd only to 7). You can farm everywhere from Master 2 to Silver 2 and still find tons of loot. The only difference is perhaps the kind of troops you'd use to farm. Thus, maintaining your trophy with hybrid base matters very little unless you're pushing to a specific league.

I personally do not think that a hybrid base is necessary at all in clash of clans. If you want resources, you farm with your town hall fully exposed. if you trophy hunt, you protect it fully. That's just my opinion though.

You could try barching. I find that it is very effective at getting the 50% on most raids. I go for collector raids and often get the 50% without even having to think with barch, which actually pushes me up too many cups when i farm:p and I usually end up having to drop cups!
