Why is elixir harder to steal than gold?

Cheaper armies help a lot, as other have mentioned.

I also find focusing on the needed resource helps. When searching, look at available loot. In this case, prioritize elixir fist. Look for 100-200k elixir first. If not, there skip. Always know about how much your army and spells cost, and don't go for less or little profit.
