Why is elixir harder to steal than gold?

Hello, I just started playing this game in May. So far I have made it to town hall 7. I am noticing that my gold is consistently 10 x my elixir. So if I have 1 million gold coins, I only have 100 elixir. I keep putting the gold into my walls, since I can only hold 2,001,000 at this time. My walls are all magenta and purple.... But is there a trick to getting more elixir? It seems really difficult to save it up. I would like to keep my laboratory going all the time, but it is so hard to gain elixir. Thanks for your help.

It's because your army costs Elixir, that's basically the only reason it's hard to save up. Use a low Elixir army like BARCH or something.

Search a village where elixir is easily accessible, don't worry it's not rare at all, and try to use properly your gold cause in the further it's gonna be different.

Sometimes you will need to use inexpensive armies like barch and bam. (Barbs, archers minons). It will help you save since giants and wb are expensive.

Also I find its best to kinda have a focus or priority system going otherwise I find I go no where quickly so if I need elixir I skip until I find 200+ of elixir only being side tracked by big easy gold or DE on rare occasions. Having a focus let's you get your upgrades going sooner

try using cheaper attack strategies
P.s i see people having a lot more elixir than gold because it takes less time to max elixir upgrades

Thank you, yes I do tend to take along 8 giants and a half dozen or more wall breakers each time. So cheaper troops... I will have to try that. I have been using 25% barbarians, 25% goblins and 50% archers along with the giants and wall breakers. I have not maxed my elixir collectors yet. I will do that too.

When saving for archers lv6 (cost 7.5 million elixir) i used 6 giants, 6 Wallbreakers, rest gob/arch/barb

Tried to not use any spells at all.

Army cost was like 50K, usually went for bases with 230-300K elix.

TH7 definitely is the beginning of upgrade woes. It took me only about three weeks to max all my troops and spells at that level, so it definitely isn't impossible. My advice is to use a farming army and just farm your guts out. My usual army once I got 200 capacity was, 9 WB, 8 Giants, 60 Archers, and 82 Goblins. A good trophy range is about 1200-1500, and you should only really be going for collector raids. Don't waste time with those 200K total storage raids, they don't pay off. Wait for those 400-600K raids and use the giants to distract as your gobs and archers get 50% and the resources. You can use the WB to gain access to the base if there are collectors inside. This army is fairly cheap and if you are pretty constant with your farming it should be very easy to get resources quickly. Also, a huge thing is don't waste elixer on spells, they don't serve hardly any advantage in farming and you usually lose much more than you gain. The only exception is using three lighting to take out a DE or full storage. If you only spend about 40-50K on an army and your getting 200 or so elixer, you are going to max out your storages fairly quickly. Good luck!

Don't worry. As you play longer the reverse happens. Elixir means nothing and gold means everything. Overall, 75-80% of your base requires gold to upgrade - not elixir. So, as you get stronger you need more gold and less elixir. Also, because walls come into play gold is more valued later on.

Its not. You feel like it does because you spent elixer on army and spells. I have more elixer then gold atm
