Just remember like any strategy it will take time to learn. I think once I go to th8 I will work on my air assault with the update that sounds like where the attacking is going
What kind of air assult? Like Loonion or Dragon?

I also remember using Goblins a lot in low Gold league. However, I started using BARCH just recently (about 3 weeks ago) and since then, I've proffited over 10 million in both Gold and Elixir. What I love about the strategy is that it only costs about 22,000 Elixir (with lvl 5 troops) to train 200 troops. I usually use 95 Barbarians and 105 Archers. The troop composition only takes about 20 minutes or maybe even a bit less to train. And last of all, it's easy to steal the loot from the mines and collectors as well as get that 50% for the 1 star. Sometimes if there's an easy Town Hall 7 or 8 base, you can even get 2 stars. On average, I've been stealing about 200k of each as a Town Hall 9 farmer in high Gold 2/low Gold 1. I just wish I knew this before Supercell changed the loot system, hahaha! I'd probably have a maxed out base if they hadn't made it so hard to find bases with a lot of loot, hahaha!

I call the ♥♥ on this guy's BARCH raids on th9 and getting 200K. His whole army will get disintegrated before he'll break the second wall.
The only time he can get something like that off of a high TH is if it's a gemmer w/ underlvl'd buildings or a bad setup. Even then he's going to need spells leaving him w/ only 120K worth of profit IF he's able to get to storage. TH9 splash kills lvl5 archers w/ one hit...so even spells are of limited use.

To the original poster, yes you want to be efficient and it's good that you are looking at it this way. But, good is scarce and you need a lot of it so, at higher levels you have to "convert" elixir into gold. You can use spells and 90K army nad if you get 200K gold and 50K elixir...it's a win.
Just don't use dragons..they are never a good idea.
My standing army is 18 giants, 14wbs, 2-4 wiz, rest archers and 3 heal spells. + 6 wiz in cc. (All lvl 5 spells and troops.) Sometimes, I send in everything and sometimes I just use archers for collectors. I am th8 and raid around 4mil loot (60% gold) everyday.
Gobs and giants can work too but, u have to get lucky as far as your target's setup is concerned. So, if he has the desired loot but, you don't have the correct composition you'll lose or not atk.

I am TH8 and have most fun/success at trophy lvl 1385-1550.
Goblins are my favourite troop and I have them lvl6;)
First of all, if you're talking about me not being able to get 200k a raid with BARCH, then you're just wrong, bevause not only do I do it, but a lot of people do it. The whole point about doing BARCH is that you don't go for the storages, so you don't even need to break through 1 layer of walls (usually, but Barbarians can break through one if neccessary). What you do, is you start by finding an abandoned base with all the resources in the mines and collectors. It can take some time to find them, but usually you get good ones with about 150-250k loot. Every once in a while though, you can get into the 300,000's. I would show you proof, but I don't know how to paste a picture onto one of these messages. Anyway, I hope this helped you learn about the strategy a bit better. I haven't tried it in too many trophy ranges, but I reccommend doing it in high Gold to low Crystal. However you can still find some in Gold 2. (P.S. I know I could just upload it to a website and post the link, but I'm too lazy to do that. I'd rather you guys just believe me)
