Mortars: upgrade until... useless?

Think you are looking at it wrong, are they usefull now? Unless you gem you still need to grow, so if you deem mortars worthless why even make them. Riddle me this though are thier any "top players bases" with low lvl mortars?

This is almost like saying walls are worthless, because of hogs and jump spells.

IMO, the cc is the most important defense. A pack of level 6 wizards can ruin a hog raid and mass drags raids (If not lured)

No, you are completely right.

Yes, mortars are totally useless, I don't even know why people like it so much. Don't upgrade your mortars any more.

Also, always keep your builder huts in the centre, many of the top players have them in the centre because builder huts are THE BEST DEFENCE.

You are tottaly mixing two things...
Mortars is the key in farming, top players dont need then because they just sit there and go for trophies, mortars are useless against golems and giants. Well they are good against lower troops, so mortars are not useless, just top players dont farm anymore.
Upgrade them and laugh at noobies who get fried when trying to get to your resources :)

The most important upgrade for Mortars is from level 5 to 6 (when you reach TH8) because they start to one-shot Level 6 Archers - which are used by most players, including high-level ones. After reaching level 6, the (tiny) additional damage that an upgrade give you won't make a huge difference.

As many said, Mortars are getting less important as you move up the townhall levels. It is simply because you have obtained more varieties of defense buildings. Mortars' low DPS is also quite helpless in front of high-level teir 2/3 troops.

Anyway, every bit counts. There is no harm to upgrade them. And as said its important to upgrade them at least until Level 6 so that you can get rid of some archers. But upgrading them further up shouldn't be your top prioirty.

the reasons put mortars outside was to
1 delay golems for getting inside the base i.e its part of an anti golem base
2 killing wizards/witches after luring heroes thus making the killing of heroes harder
3 if you forget to get takeout of all 3 mortars they will kill all your witches/wizard that are inside the base.if you study those base you will see that those mortars are triangulated so they cover all of the base except the core.

I breathe of the dragon and all of them died. I dont think you need to lure cc when using dragon.
