Just got th8 everything is built except second dark barracks. How should I priorities upgrading building and troops/spells?
I personally always build all my walls/buildings too so I don't need to be rearrange my base everytime I build something new. However, if you already have that down, I would go ahead and get the lab upgraded for level 5 trooops. Then I would try and get everything the same level. For example, get your new tesla, air defenses, etc all the same level as your old ones before upgrading the others any further.
Lab -> Wizard Tower and Mortar -> Air Defense -> etc.
Some prioritize upgrading the CC too.
For troops and spells, prioritize the one you're using in farming and in CW.

I would work on Air defenses, wizard towers and archer towers first, as the wizard & archer towers can attack both air and land troops, and air defenses are important when it comes to being attacked by balloons or dragons.
Also, try to farm alot of elixir a day so you can always have a troop/spell upgrading, This Is what I do.
I'm in the same situation. Here's what I did/do/plan:
1. build everything newly available
2. layout new base
3. laboratory, so I can start improving troops again (lab doesn't need builder!)
4. clan castle
5. spell factory - OK. just found there's nothing new available for TH 8.
6. now I'm going to upgrade everything new to the "maxed TH 7" level of the existing stuff
7. last I'll start upgrading ... haven't made up my mind, yet, about what goes first
There are no army camp improvements for TH 8 - if there were, I would strongly prioritize them. And I'm not really interested in PEKKA, that's why I did not mention barracks. When I reached TH 7, dragons and bigger camps were numbers 1 and 2 on my list, 3 were walls ;)
Might give valkyries a try, though. Once that second dark barrack finishes building, I'll upgrade it right away to level 3, while leaving the old one at the current level 2 for now, so I'll always have a workable one.

Just a heads up, your spell factory should be maxed from TH 7 (level 3), so you can delete that one from your list and probably substitute getting your DE drill to level 3 ASAP. I agree with everything else you said. for #7, I focused on Mortars and Wizard Towers first. After that, it's your choice.Quote:

I agree with the previous posters that upgrading the lab and getting the new defenses up to speed is the most important, but with my fresh town hall 8 base I'm also:
* Giving top priority to upgrading all air defenses to max
* Postponing building the additional storages.
Strong air defenses and 2 less "useless" buildings will make the base stronger in clan wars, especially against dragon attacks, the main 3-star strategy I see at the moment. For the same reason, I will probably also prioritize archer towers once the air defenses are done.
Also, I am currently farming at low(ish) trophy levels, but plan to move up later for dark elixir. I expect I will be happy not to have my air defenses down for upgrades when I get back to Crystal.
In priority i up splash damages defenses, mortar then wizard tower.
upping in the same time your spell/laboratory if possible.
Don't forget to up your black drill to 3.
