Different Army Compositions
I like to do something special each 100 posts, and this time I'll do a guide on army compositions.
There are many different kinds, good against different types of bases. Here are some of my favourites.
------------------------
Healer+Giant Combo
8-18 Giants (I'd start off using 12 at first)
1 Healer
30-60 Archers
20-30 Barbarians
10-20 Goblins
Basic Strategy
1. Start off by locating the Air Defences.
2. Destroy all Air Defences or at least one with the giants to maximise the amount of damage that the giants can do.
3. Deploy the Healer once the Air Defence is down.
4. While the giants are knocking down defences, deploy just a few barbs and archers behind to destroy what's left behind by the giants. Goblins can clean up the storages.
Tips and Things to look out for
- Destroy defences ahead of the giants with archers to speed up the destructive trail of giants.
- The 'Critical Mass' of giants is when there are enough giants to quickly beat down a defence. Spring Traps will diminish the Critical Mass very quickly as they are instant kill.
- If the Air Defences are centered, you'll have no chance of penetrating into the middle.
- This Composition will only work effectively at TH7 and TH8 where you have enough space to fit a mass of giants and a healer. Don't use this at TH9 where there are 3 Air Dfences that counter almost any Healer attack.
- Be patient with the healer. Wait until the giants have knocked down most of the defences guarding the storages and THEN deploy the goblins.
Pros and Cons
Pros
+Great at 3 Starring
+Completely counters Splash Defence (healer heals in splash)
Cons
-Long Train Time
-Relatively high cost compared to other compositions.
-Not very noob-friendly
-CC troops will demolish the giants if they go unchecked.
Overall, the Healer+Giant build is very viable, but I find there are more efficient compositions.
-----------------------------
Barbarian, Archer, and (Sometimes) Goblins Combo
1/3 - 2/4 Barbarian
1/3 - 2/4 Archer
1/3 Goblins
(Sometimes) wall breakers
*The amount of units vary from player to player
**I hardly use this so don't flame me if I get the strategy wrong.
Basic Strategy
1. Deploy Barbarians to tank damage for archers and goblins.
2. Deploy Archers and Goblins to speed up the destruction.
3. Use wall breakers while defences are distracted to penetrate inside the walls for the barbarians and archers to rain the pain.
Tips and Things to look out for
- If the mortars are centered, you'll have a hard time getting in.
- Avoid Wizard Towers if you can.
- Funnel Bases will wreck your time.
- Basically just avoid splash when possible.
- Always keep some barbs and archers to bAck the forces up.
- Deploy units in packs, don't spread them out too much or they'll die too quickly from cannons and archer towers. At the same time, don't keep them too tight or they'll die from splash defence.
Pros and Cons
Pros
+Cheap and quick to train
+Viable against almost any base.
+Great against CC troops (If there aren't any splash units)
Cons
-Splash will ruin you
-Not very noob-friendly
This build is a very cost efficient composition that anyone can train. One of the best out there.
-----------------------
The Variety Combo (My composition)
9 Giants
80 Archers
55 Goblins
10 Wall Breakers
Basic Strategy
*This focuses on attacking heavily on 1 side
1. Clear out building out of range of defence
2. Deploy giants in pairs to tank and distract for WB.
3. Deploy more archers to destroy buildings behind the giants.
4. Repeat Step 2 until you are in the core.
5. Deploy 10-15 goblins in groups to take out storages. Deploy 2 giants for every giant that dies.
6. Deploy more and more units until you take out the storages.
Tips and Things to look out for
- You'll have a hard time getting very spread out storages. You can try, but this build is better for clumped up storages.
- You'll have to keep a close eye on the giants and goblins so you know when to deploy some more.
Pros and Cons
Pros
+Good for getting storages and collectors
+Can 2 star bases very easily
Cons
-Relatively high cost
-Slow train time
