Were you visiting another farm? For some reason when you are visiting another farm and they receive a mastery star, you see the popup while on their farm. I have had this happen to me a few times!
Yup! ^^^This!! lol. I have never seen this mentioned on here before, it might exist in a thread I have yet to see but at any rate, this happens to me on occasion. I particularly liked way back when I had first opened my candy maker. I visited another farm and I had fully mastered my candy maker, according to the pop-up. That was funny. I had my candy maker an hour or so. I can't even fathom the amount of diamonds it would take to master the candy maker in an hour! ;)
Both my food mills have been stuck at 406 out of 840 hours for weeks now despite almost constant use. This is totally unfair and needs sorting. The fact that they're both at exactly the same point makes it even more obvious that there's an error!
The fact that they are not progressing even though being used sounds like a clear and obvious bug.
However, they are supposed to always show the same progress. You don't master each feed mill separately, you master them together and they share their progress. So having both of them running for an hour should get you two hours closer to mastery. Having one running for a hour should get them both 1 hour closer to mastery. Smelters work the same way.
But like I said, if neither of feed mill is making progress then that sounds like an obvious bug. If I were you I would use the in-game contact mechanism to report it, that way SC will have a link back to your specific farm so that they can investigate.
