Boat orders have just been plain awful recently, I've had to turn loads away. The other day it was Woolly Chaps, Shirts & Blackberries. today it's Syrup, White sugar and brown sugar, poor sugar mill has gone into overdrive. I know I don't have to accept these and can turn them away but I'm trying to build up my boat score and I like getting the coloured tickets!
I would love a boat with blackberries, chaps, and shirts! One person's hard to fill boat is another person's breeze - except for those darn dairy and sugar boats. I have filled the occasional syrup boat and do fill some dairy and sugar crates for neighbors, but any other dairy or sugar I ignore. Just keep sending them away. I find that demand often runs in cycles in this game. Could be random, could also be intentional on game developers part.
It's been a while since we've had a voucher event in the game. Hopefully one will come up soon.
I COMPLETELY agree. I've never been one to complain about boat orders because normally I'd get maybe 3 bad ones in a row at most, and then some easier ones would come along balancing things out, but ever since the town was introduced my boat orders have been over the top ridiculous. It's not that I'm suddenly short all the premium items where before the town I'd have more in stock. No, it's that the orders consistently involve not just one high-ingredient premium item (which is fine) but two and often times three. During the boating event I turned away 11 jam boats, 9 of them in a row, and in the 5 days of the event only managed to fill 5 boats. I don't even ask for easy peasy boats, i.e. wheat/corn/blue hats, I just ask for some VARIETY in the requests. Yesterday I turned a boat away asking for lobster soup, fish soup and lobster tails. I finally received a boat this morning asking for red scarves, wool and sugar cane. I haven't seen a boat that easy in over a month.
Boat orders have definitely changed for the worst, at least on my farm.
Yes, I've noticed the same trend. For a while when I was completely focused on the town I just cast away all my boats. Now that I've relaxed on the town a bit (turning away customers - surprising how good that feels!) and am doing boats again, I'm finding them to be extremely difficult and end up still casting away most of them. I think SC needs to tweak the boat orders a bit to take into account the effect the town has had on our stocks - particularly fish/lobster, dairy, sugar and jams.
Even the dairy and sugar boats are easy for some people. Lower level players tend to have lots of sugar and dairy, because they can make syrup, cheese, cream, etc. but don't yet have the cake oven, ice cream maker, etc. that use them up.Quote:

Just last night a neighbor & I were discussing a change in boat orders since the town update. While I did manage to finish the last event, one thing we both noticed was the number of repeated orders for an item.
Normally I might get a back to back order once every 6 or 7 boats, or there might be a boat in between two asking for, say, muffins, but lately, there have been a lot of consecutive boats asking for the same thing. During the event I had four straight boats asking for feta salad, and of those four, there were other items that were wanted on five other boats later on. That's 9 of 12 that asked for duplicate items. Those sort of orders make it really difficult, if not impossible, to replenish stock in a timely manner.
Fortunately, I'm a hoarder with a decent sized barn, so with some help from great neighbors & good luck in the DD, I wasn't completely wiped out, still I've been busy ever since restocking just a small number of items. Variety IS down on orders. I haven't seen a pumpkin pie or popcorn order in weeks, just boat after boat asking for premium items or my supplies of sugar, dairy, & fish.
All true, and I realized after I posted that when I was in my 20's and early 30's I had plenty of sugar to give out - of course we're talking about levels here... :rolleyes: and I filled my own crates with both dairy and sugar. Once I got into a neighborhood I stopped filling boats with either dairy or sugar and offered it to higher level neighbors. It was one way I could help them out when they had been so generous helping me out in my 30's and 40's - again we're still talking about levels. ;)Quote:

While I personally have not noticed individual boat orders being more difficult to fill, I have noticed the duplication of items in consecutive boats. I had three boats requesting cherry juice the other day and today I have two asking for fish sandwiches. I too have a large barn with many items stocked up and could have filled all three cherry juice boats, but I determined it just wasn't worth it to me.Quote:

I have to agree...I've never sent away as many boats as I have in the last few weeks. Fortunately, I'm done with all the boating achievements and don't really care about where I stand score-wise, but I DO like to get the experience points and tickets, lol. Since I've been sending away so many boats, I've started doing a couple of regular truck orders here and there, whereas until a couple of weeks ago, was just doing jewelry orders and townies.
I am in the same boat:D D2 and now back to back syrup boats, both being sent away. I feel very fortunate that all the boat achievements were completed a while ago.Quote:

INDEED. I think new players now need to be warned that they should complete all of their boating and trucking achievements before opening the town. I honestly don't see how they could be achieved otherwise. SO glad I got all mine out of the way before the town opened up (and on the baby farm too - just did TT3 yesterday). :)Quote:

I agree, boat orders have become really irritating... even with me ignoring the town most of the day, I still can't fill those ludicrous orders...
I never fill any boats. I did for a while after I got my captain III but since then I just send them all away. All I ever got were blue vouchers, nothing else. Since quitting the boats, I get a voucher every day in one of the mystery chests and they are much more varied.
Last three boats...
2 pizza x 4, 20 rice x 4, 2 shepherd pie x 4 = filled (needed room)
3 cheese x 4, 10 pumpkins x 4, 1 tomato soup x 4 = filled (against better instincts, but still needed room)
3 syrups x 4, 2 shirts x 4, 2 chili pizza x 4 = cast off
Next boat...
cheese, tomatoes, pumpkins...likely 4 crates each = 12 cheeses, 40 pumpkins, 32-40 tomatoes = cast off
4 consecutive orders = 40 cheeses, 80 pumpkins, 70 - 80 tomatoes (counting items using tomatoes.)
Point...Lacks variety & impedes other production by having to devote a majority of resources to replenishing stock that is being asked for repeatedly.
Result...Mild aggravation, moderate frustration, major boredom.
Solution...Cast off & hope for better, keep slaving away at the cheese & tomatoe factory, quit playing (yeah, right!), come to the forum & commiserate with other farmers in (with) the same boat, hope SC tweaks whatever needs tweaking.

However, I and various others in our NH are now sending all the eggs press visitors away and just serving the ones from the PT so I am hopeful that I should be able to catch up and restore the balance on the farm and in the barn. It appears that I am on the Juice order cycle! Just had my 7th consecutive boat asking for at least 3 crates of juice. Two asked for 4 crates of juice!!!
Oh, Hog, you poor thing! Trust me, I've been there too...last week, in fact! Every other boat during the event asked for juice or feta salads. Since the towns opened up and with this recycling of item requests, the only machine I don't need two of nowadays is the jewelry maker.Quote:

I am level 20 with 51326 coins. I have all the machines and animals allowed for my level except the dog which just became available. I want to know is too early to get the boat? I wanted to get it at level 16 or 17 I forgot which it became available but thought it would be too hard to deal with. Now from reading your previous posts I'm thinking it was a mistake to do so as it sounds the higher up you get the harder it becomes to fill the boats.
Get the dock. You can just cast away a boat if you think it'll be too difficult or if the orders are not reasonable.Quote:

My last few boats have been awful, the worst asked for cheesecake, raspberry jam, and cream cake. They keep asking for cakes, ice cream, and jam for me lately, its getting irritating having to turn them all away when I want some more vouchers. What happened to crops, sweaters, and quick easy things, I miss those. :(
The boat early on is great, at least the orders for me were super easy. I don't think I opened it when it first unlocked either, but I wish I had. Plus, it gives you something else to do besides truck orders (not to mention vouchers).Quote:

Actually, believe it or not, sweaters are quite scarce now. A better boat order would be: crops, cotton products (maybe not the cotton fabric itself), and eggs and/or eggs & bacon. And chili popcorn.Quote:

I like getting that kind of boat. Of course, I wouldn't load it :rolleyes:. But I'd prefer to refuse a boat for 3 good reasons and then get the good boats unmixed, like a crops-and-eggs or a crops-and-woolies boat. Better than boats with dairy and woolies mixed, where you never know if you should invest the cheese, just to finally load those awful woolies, or refuse it to save your cheese and then have those woolies fill your barn.

I actually had a boat I could fill this morning - raspberry muffins, cherries and indigo. It's the first boat I've done in the last 10. Yes, TEN, and that's about the average now for me. The boat requests aren't mixed, they are repeatedly asking for high-ingredient, high-value premium items, usually combined with sugar/dairy/fish raw ingredients. But they're not as bad, still, as the truck orders. My truck orders nowadays ask for things like 5 jams for 248 XP. HUH?? Or 28 sugars and who CARES how much xp that one offered. I try to be fair and consider that the town has changed my farming priorities, but I don't think that that is really the case. It's not that I want to hold onto my premium items for the town, it's that the boats are asking ONLY for those items anymore (2 kinds of pizza and casserole was one of yesterday's boat requests). I haven't seen a boat asking for any kind of clothing, either wool or cotton, in WEEKS. SC needs to seriously do some code tweaking on the boat and truck orders. There are enough complaints out there to warrant it. I'm just glad I have a fair amount of vouchers in all colors - I feel sorry for the new kids on the block who are trying to acquire them while playing this game the way it was meant to be played, meaning playing ALL aspects of it and not just focusing on town, boat or truck orders.
Truck orders are a joke.

I honestly think SC has done something to the frequency of gold voucher drops. I haven't had one in WEEKS and I'm an avid player. Boats, jewelry orders, lockboxes...I get all of the other colors, but no gold. Wait, I did get one or two in the last global event, but that's it. It's gotten to where I don't even look for them anymore. Glad I have all my animals, but again, I feel bad for new players. It's much more difficult now than it was just a few months ago.Quote:

Turned away two dairy boats in a row. The first one wanted butter, pizza, and vanilla ice cream. The second wanted cheese, pizza, and cafe lattes. This is after two white sugar boats in a row earlier today! No wonder it looks like the global reward won't happen during this event!
I've filled a whopping four boats during this event. Four boats in 3 1/2 days is pitiful, and some of them requested premium items, but the constant barrage of green vouchers plus the lackluster prizes just don't make filling any more (which request premium items) worth it; however, my next one wants smoothies, blue sweaters and hot chocolate, so if the crates only want one chocolate each, I'll probably fill it. Maybe even two (chocolates per crate). Boats have become the WORST aspect of the game, unfortunately, and seeing the huge number of complaints, I'm really hoping SC starts taking notice and doing something about it, either mixing up the high-ingredient premium item requests with basic products and/or crops more often, or giving better vouchers for harder boats, etc. SOMETHING needs to happen. This aspect of the game has become an afterthought for me, much like filling only jewelry orders on trucks has.
Speaking of lousy truck orders…the other day I had one asking for 17 syrup with a reward of 150 coins and 148 XP.
Wut.
The loudest complain is that we didn't reach the global event goal... even when we only needed to fill 10 boats in four days! :(Quote:

There are 100 products (including crops) that can be asked by boat orders (at my level). It's insane that only 14 (sugars, diary, jams, fish fillets and lobsters) are present in more than half the orders I get, sometimes more than once per boat.
That's a good point. I hadn't noticed the personal goal requirement had also been reduced. I just noticed that the global event requirement had been reduced by 10 million from last time.Quote:
