What should I upgrade first? I see many people say archers, but I don't understand why. 14 day wait plus 7.5mil elixir for barely a boost? Doesn't seem worth it, imo. Anyone care to reason with me?

They are stronger and do more DPS, plus, barbs can only target outside buildings and they bunch up when it comes to breaking through walls.
In BARCH level 6 Archers give a 10% increase in DPS, while the increase to Barbs might help the meat shield last one more shot. And level 6 Archers are no longer one-shotted by level 5 mortars, which for some strange reason many TH8s still have. The down side is they lose the cool hoodie.

I go for Archer
Here are a few reasons you SHOULD go for archers (assuming you use barch):
-Archers should make up 50-75% of your barch army, so upgrading archers gives your barch a lot more attacking damage per second than upgrading barbarians.
-Barbarians are just cheap meat shields and with the new update, they will work together to get killed by wizard towers and mortars.
-Archers can shoot over walls. Barbarians love hitting them.
-The barbarian king sucks now, so you would rather help out your archer queen by letting her spawn lvl 6 archers
-It will look awkward if your level 11 archer towers have higher level archers on them than in your army camps
-Trust me on this: Once you upgrade your archers to level 6, you will feel like there is no other lab upgrade you can't save up for (which is true!)
Archers because they have a long range and they also have a goOD AMOUNT of dbs
If you can afford it then archers.. But my lab finished before my elixir storage was maxed. So, I do barbs first so I don't waste lab sitting idle.
I did Archers first just to get the most expensive upgrade out of the way, plus they look pretty cool at level 6
^^^ This, happened to me too. Still had 2.5 days left on upgrading new elixer storage, so bounced to barbs first. If you barch you will want both eventually. Archer is preferred, but if you can't, then barb.Quote:
