It was a long time coming.
The Right Wing Authoritarians (look it up) in charge incorrectly believe it was their "leadership" that made the clan a success. in fact, the only reaso Cavebears is successful is because the name is hot property (book and movie called "clan of the cavebear")
An "adult" clan that freaks out when adults use profanity. Rules that span from requirements of flooding chat with "hi" and "bye" to kicking new members if they don't sit like a dog and wait for their betters to make a request before they do. Obnoxious quizzing of new members instead of politely asking them to read the (many, many) rules before joining.
I support you, my icebear brothers and sisters! In fact, keep an open spot for me, I'll probably be joining you when they start kicking people who voice discontent, because if there is something Right Wing Authoritarians can't stand, it's people who disagree with them.
I am mortified that I have to put my dissenting views in an open forum instead of in the intimacy of our Cavebear Chat room. I would love to hear the views of my clan members privately, but I have been told...this is not the place (when I tried to speak out in chat). We are supposed to be an adult clan. We should be able to talk about all relevant business instead of worrying about the sensibilities and the authoritarianism of a few elders who feel it is proper to chastize members with phrases like "that isn't ladylike" or (I am paraphrasing) "love it or leave it". How demeaning and sexist. When I joined we had half the rules we have now. I think we have a great clan made up of smart and generous people. They are generous with their donations as well as their gaming advice. But oh my goodness, rules have proliferated like our clan members. The important rules in my opinion are: 1. There must be donation minimums. 2. Adult Members only. 3. Members must always be civil and respectful to each other. That rule must be adhered to by members, as well as elders.
We have so many rules at this point, they contradict each other. The charter says: We are a democracy, but when we give our views, we are basically told to shut up. That isn't a democracy, that is an autocracy. We are told this is an adult clan, yet we are admonished as if we were children. We are bullied into believing that we will get "kicked" for having a different point of view and expressing it, or for not speaking when we are spoken to, (even if someone is somewhere else, and doesn't even know they are being spoken to), or for not adhering to rules of etiquette, even if unaware these rules exist.
Now it seems, we are trying to engage in a civil war. There is even talk about getting SuperCell to allow grudge wars. This is not what I signed on for. If we are going to be all about revenge and insults, it will poison the bonamie that currently exists in our clan. This behavior is neither fun nor mature. There is talk of creating a bear clan just for revenge. Why don't you talk about creating a bear clan with only the 3 rules I listed above? By doing that you will not only create a place for those of us who have found a congenial home in the cave but are not comfortable with all the restrictions and regulations, but you will gut Icebears in the process. The good folks like KC may come running to this new, less restrictive cave that will run on adult good will rather than stay in the anarchy that is Icebears.
Thanks for your thoughtful comments, Phoenix27. This situation poses an interesting conundrum for the Bears, and I for one am glad to have read your take on it.
Hello Phoenix,
I am sure you can and you should say your opinion in the intra-game chat and elsewhere.
Having an opinion is surely nothing anybody will be kicked for by me and canīt imagine my fellow
elders seeing that differently.
There may be a bit too many words on rules, but as I perceive the reality in the clan
the rules are barely noticable (... because they are kinda obvious and most people follow them naturally)
Yes, in relation to the icebears clan there was quite some commotion (and some had a lot of fun)
- but there never was and still is no need to play a role in it. I personally for example had chosen to pay
attention to other things and barely noticed that it was going on.
I still have plenty of fun - just as usual !
... isnīt that wonderfull evidence that we can have fun together even though some of us have a different emphasis
on one or the other aspect of the game? ...and we get along wonderfully.
If that icebear topic is "not your thing", then just ignore it and join me : Let us sharpen the axes,
set sails of our long boats and go pillage the distant shores to bring good loot back to the cave
and improve our camps! We will celebrate our victories with shull cups full of mead! (or drink for any other reason:-)
C U Mayana
TL;DR
However, is this clan any relation to that clan Bear Family? If so, that's a hilarious name. Kudos to the person who thought of it.
