Opt out of clan wars

As a leader of a clan it has become increasingly difficult to lead with the addition of clan wars. Some members want to war constantly, some occasionally and some never! I have read about having a war clan and a non war clan etc but with 3 clans already this is a real chore.

it would be great if before a war was started that each member could opt in or out and then the for the clan to get matched with a clan the size of those opted in. This would make leadership a whole lot easier as it would then allow harmony to once again return to my clan!

Great idea. It's not a problem with my clan as all of us want to battle non-stop and anyone new that joins gets booted real quick if they dont:p... But i see the usefulness and would probably end up using it

There is not a thread that exists for this, I think there are hundreds of threads like this....

That said, I still don´t like it for the simple reason that your clan should just not go into war before you checked if everyone is ready. And the problem you descrbe with different members having different needs in one clan, well, you know, those should just not be in the same clan or they should compromise. Just my opinion.

It isnt really your clans choice whether or not you go to war. As a clan you can decide to wait but you will just get randomly pulled into a war anyway. You dont have the option to decline a war... So whether every one is ready or not its just not up to you.
On a side note i farm nonstop even during battle day. Clan wars hasnt slowed me down one bit. If you're doing it right you should be able to have enough elixer to build your war armies, donate war troops and still have all five builders going nonstop. Just work on your farming techniques.

I still don't like this on a very basic level. You have people who can't participate this war? Guess what, the other clan probably does too. This is self balancing. I also declare shenanigans on not having enough time to participate in the wars because of time. It takes 20 minutes to get in two attacks spread over 48 hours. If that does not qualify as casual gaming I am not sure what does. So what does this leave us with as the core problem? In my opinion it is players who have different interests, which is a symptom of the staggering difficulty of finding a clan that matches your play style and interests. Because it is so difficult to recruit players and/or find a clan that is a good match for you we end up with lots of clans that are a mix of play styles and leaders who don't want to stir the pot by enforcing what they want.

Now before you disregard what I said as me being a big jerk you should understand that I have the same issue in my clan. We have real life friends who often do not participate which makes it difficult to win some of our wars. While this is a bummer it is a conscious decision we make. On one side we WANT to be a strong war clan. On the other hand we WANT to have casual members. Guess what . . . you can't have both and SC certainly should NOT make weaker clans artificially stronger just to make them as powerful as strong clans who work to be that strong. They put in the extra effort that your (and my) clan are unwilling to commit to. We are weaker than them by CHOICE! Again, this choice is exacerbated by the lack of clan searching/recruiting tools available but it is a choice we have made and that is on us.

If we remove the whole "manage your clan better" argument we still have the glaring issue of game balance that everybody seems to ignore when they post this request. There are just as many threads started here to complain about how unfair the war matchmaking system already is. Can you imagine how much worse it will be when your 20 member clan gets matched up against the 20 best members that were hand picked out of a 40 member clan to be allowed to participate in a 20v20 war?

As a clan leader myself, I run into the same issue as the OP. I constantly find myself pushing, pleading and begging my clan members to attack so those of us that enjoy the clan wars can win, but usually only get about 50% participation. If the non-war members could opt out, it would make the success percentage much better. I would rather have 50% of my clan opt out and go into a war with 25 hardcore battle-hardened clan members than take a 50-member clan into a war and get poor participation. And I don't want to kick non-warring members just because they don't want to participate.

I think the idea above is a great one. It would also be great if a user could mark himself as a non-war guy by default.... we have a some smaller accounts that just pull us down due to lack of interest.

Sounds like they were not a good fit for your clan and needed to be booted. This just helped you identify the problem sooner.

On that last point: even if it were the 20 best members from a team that chose to participate, you would still only be paired up with a clan that has the same "overall" defensive stats and troop strength. Now I realize that some matchmaking may seem unfair but if you take a step back and look objectively at your rivals you will see that MOST matches are pretty even and come down to offensive strategy and CC donations.
