Any tips for keeping up with fish and lobster orders? I have all fishing spots open and have lobster traps and nets in at all times. The nets take forever, and I still can't keep up. 1 fish product takes all the fish from 1 net and I never seem to have enough to go around.
I usually place 3 lobster traps, 3 nets and utilize the rest spaces for manual fishing.
Manual fishing should be done in the top spots where the cool-down is less.
it depends how you play, I never use nets for two reasons, it monopolises one spot for far too long and it takes time away on the net maker to make lobster cages.
I keep about 5 top places open just for lure fishing and fish all day, and will keep all the others open for lobsters so just pop in a lobster pot as soon as it is made into the lake, every couple of hours there is always a lobster to put in to the pot and take out.
If you just pop in a couple of times a day then it is harder, even with my above strategy with those town people wanting fish salad, fruit de Mari pizza, raw lobster, lobster soup it is hard to keep up, I manage just!
I can't make lobster nets yet since I'm only lvl 38, but as of right now I can do 60-70% of my fishing spots using nets! then the rest using manual fishing lures (I have all the fishing spots unlocked). My nets are starting to dwindle....I can't keep up with the nets anymore because I have more fishing spots than my net production can handle. It should start to balance out when I get my lobster nets though.
in general, if you're only making RED lures, 60-70% of your spots should be nets, the rest for fishing with lures.
otherwise if you're actually making voucher lures, then about 20% with nets, the rest with lures
Good luck. My experience is that it's impossible to keep up. I have all the fishing areas open and use a combination of lobster traps, regular lures and one fishing net but I don't think the actual combination matters much. With boat, truck and townspeople all asking for fish items, it's very difficult to keep up. The people in the beachside cafe devour the seafood salad and fish soup like nobodies business. I never fill boat orders for fish and I still can't keep up. It's my biggest frustration (well, next to never getting maps). I actually use my son's abandoned farm to make cheese and sugar and cannot wait to open his fishing area, although that is quite a ways off.
best option is no more nets, only traps and queue big enough for traps 7/24. red worms as much as you can for rest of the spots which is about 4-5 so you can never make enough of either traps or worms.
Firstly, I make sure to run my net maker 24-7. Then, I use tom to catch up. Send him out for the finished lobster/fish products (especially ones that use more than one) and keep making those nets. You will soon have a stockpile. Rinse & repeat!
I drop 4 nets every morning in the four lowest spots, then use the remaining 6 areas (I'm fully expanded) to drop lobster pots and fish with lures. At night I fill those 6 spots with lobster pots so that I'll have six ready to go in the pool the next morning. This means that I immediately collect 12 fish first thing every morning, have 6 lobster in the pool, and still have 6 more spots available for both fish and lobster. It works BEAUTIFULLY for keeping me in fish and lobster most of the time with very few hiccups.
Thanks for sharing your tip! I've been doing something similar to what you said but recently changed it up because I wasn't sure if the long wait time for the nets was worth it in the long run. Maybe this will help with my stock of fish/lobsters that are always in short supply.Quote:

I have a great tip. Don't upgrade your lobster pool when you have 2 lobsters in it that would be ready in 30 mins, and more to pick out of the water to put in the pool, especially when it turns out your next boat will be for fish, and lobster soup!! I now have to wait 13 odd hours for the upgrade to 3 lobster capacity, and now only have 2 fishing spots available because the rest are full of (full) lobster traps!!! :(:(:(
I'm in the same spot. I currently have 6 peeps in the beach cafe, all asking for something made with lobster. I have nothing yet for any of them. I have 2 more in other buldings asking for lobster items. It's maddening.
SC, you really have to tone down the lobster requests.
I finally had to stop giving them raw fish/lobster at all, even if it's their last stop. I used to do the same thing but noticed the requests started increasing, so I've stopped giving them those two things altogether. I've still received coins and xp, so I don't consider the first one or two stops a waste of resources.Quote:

This is pretty much my strategy as well. I also buy all fish and lobster I see in DD. I often buy fish/lobster items from dd as well. There has only been a few times I haven't been able to satisfy townie requests.Quote:
