Too Many Cows Not Enough Dairy

I'm fairly new to the game. Level 31.
I have 3 cow pens. 15 cows.
And even though my dairy is going ALL the time I still have lots of extra milk.
There are times when I just don't milk my cows, I sell milk to the little people and put it on boats.
Sometimes it goes in my RSS if I am desperate for more room in my barn.
I have one cat who drinks a can every 6 hrs or so.

I am am not asking for another dairy. I just wonder if there will be a time when it balances out and I can use all the milk I produce. Or if there is something I'm missing?

Yes you will need it all soon. I'm level 55 and I often search the dd for more.

Trust me, it will not only balance out but completely swing the opposite way. Many of us struggle to keep up with dairy products and use bucketloads of milk, so please feel free to sell your surplus milk on the RSS! :)

It really depends on how much you play.

People have told me that eventually I would have to buy eggs and milk. It's not true. I still sell them in my RSS, and to the little people.

I have come to the conclusion that this is because I play too much. If you play a lot, constantly harvesting milk and eggs, you end up with way more milk and eggs than you can use. Most people expand the dairy as much as they can, and make use of it by queuing up items that take a long time to make if they're going to be away from the game (goat cheese). So being around all the time doesn't really turn milk into cheese much faster. But it does result in tons of milk being harvested.

I will say that it gets better. I have less surplus eggs and milk than I had when I was at your level. But I still have a surplus. I still have milk and eggs pretty much constantly stocked in my RSS (just one bin each, so it's not too boring), and I still sell it to the little people if they ask. Especially eggs. I'm always very grateful when Greg asks for eggs.

I'm usually either low or out of milk. My dairy cranks 24/7. Cheese at night. Butter & cream during the day. My 6 cats and town use the rest. I still end up shopping for milk. I have now hidden my animals till probably next January due to the unfortunate outfits. So i will be shopping for even more milk. Sigh.

Ever since I've been able to make goat feed, I've just been queuing the goats feed up in my feed mills....no more cow feed, thus only when my goat feeds are done can I make more cow feed to feed my cows. But by the time I can make more cow feed, my dairy is already done with all its products......so I have to look in the DD for milk. The only time when you have more milk than dairy product is when you constantly make milk whilst still making dairy product. Thus you have to make X amount of cow feed every Y interval, which will be dictated by how much slots you have on your feed mill, whether or not you are on the game to queue up more cow feed, and how much dairy products you can queue up and produce by the time your cow feeds are done and cows fully fed.

but yeah, I'm at a point where I'm just making goat feed now for my feed mill mastery. I'll probably buy 80-90% of my milk from now on. Only making cow feed every time i wake up to find that my feed mills are empty, then making more goat feed while I'm awake and playing.

Sparkly, I agree with the above posters. One question, have you added production slots? Its essential.

I have 2 pens of cows only and am regularly selling milk. It is all a question of how much you play. I never sell milk to the visitors, I sell in my shop, because the price is better and there seems to be quite a demand amongst my friends and followers.

I am mostly on all day and usually have a surplus of milk, actually have 60 milk in my barn at the moment (yesterday was a goat cheese day) but there are times when I am filling all my different machine slots with cheese, feeding cats, town orders and filling queues ( berry cakes etc) and have run out.

like a previous poster, I never run out of eggs and I am making mayo and lemon curd all day, and have a surplus of eggs but I am on all day others may not be so they run out of milk and eggs, and feed mills run out.

when you get to higher levels like coffee maker and other items, you do use milk more often. but it depends on how you play, on constantly or just a few times a day.

Definitely!
i have 8 production slots and my dairy never stops.

I guess the the ice cream uses some milk too haven't got it although I could. I'm focusing on expanding my barn and silo before I get that.

Nope, you are not the only with the milk, I also stock pile the dairy because I sell the dairy products sometimes when the barn gets too full like x20 the amount. :cool:

Man, I am alway buying milk from neighbors and or the dd because I cant keep enough milk on hand. I have all 9 slots open and keep my dairy runing 24/7. All milk products are so hard to keep on hand when you hit the higher levels. I would love more cows.

I'm still working on the Coffee Kiosk Mastery, and that takes tons of milk products, lol. So, yes, I run my dairy as constantly as I can, and have a baby farm and run that as often as I can. I still occasionally have to hunt for milk, though I am hoarding it a bit less lately. The time I really need milk is when I can not find it anywhere, so I always keep enough of a supply on hand to load my machines and THEN I milk the cows so I always have at least a little on hand. :o

I still have a tendency to buy milk when I see it though....two bad weekends where I couldn't find any for sale has taught me better to be safe than sorry, lol.
