I just upgraded my townhall to level 8 from level 7, previously I can still get enough elixir from the loot to cover my army's cost, now none of the players I can give me enough loot to cover my attack cost. Is there any way to downgrade my townhall? I'm willing to give up any additional structures I've obtained from Level 8 townhall and I'm never going to upgrade again, otherwise there's no way I can continue playing this game anymore.

No. What trophy level you at? And what army you using cause your elixir should be easily going up with a standard giant, wb barch army.
If your lower than gold 2 raise your trophies. And dont forget to skip a lot to find decent bases.

What level is all your stuff at? You may have advanced through the Town Halls too quickly and now you will be stuck at Th 8 for a while trying to catch up.

Most of your points are valid, but a new TH8 doesn't need be up at gold 2. I probably stayed at around 1300 until I got my barbs and arch up to lvl5. Loot was never an issue for me there.Quote:

Can the game admin do some data edit or come up with a new function for me to downgrade? I seriously cannot continue playing with this huge difference. Fighting is supposed to let players upgrade faster, but now the only way I can build my village is wait for the collectors to do their work and cannot attack anyone.
Just use gobarch (gob, barb, arch) or barch and go for the collectors in abandoned bases, if possible, bring along lightning spells :) Should be relatively easy to get loot using barch cuz i as a th8 used to have probs looking for gold till i used barch to start from 20k+ gold and elix to max out my walls to lv7 and move on to th8 in about a week and a half :D Currently th8, upgrading everything to be on par to th7.
Just Barch in SilverI/Gold3. I had no problem farming there both before and after the update. I am in gold2 right now trying to get to crystal3, and it is pretty hard in this range to find good bases.Quote:

I had 500k elixir this morning. Now I left with 100k after 10 battles.
You should really try barching collectors at about 1100-1300 trophs, to start getting ur elix back to a good state. Probably go for 90/90 barb+archQuote:

I worked my way through TH8. I would say i am almost reaching the end of it already, i think it was managable. Try staying at 1400-1600 range at an earlier stage of TH8.
I upgraded my townhall to 8 but my troops aren't one bit stronger. But my loot has reduced so largely that I'm forced to fight players totally out of my league that I can't fight anyone. Looks like this is the end of my game.

Snipe up to G2. Then upgrade archers immediately. Repeat and get them to LEV five. Accumulate enough to max camps. No more than one spell a raid. Rather no spells at all. You should be on your feet in a month or two.
Post a screenshot of your base. BARCH up in G2.
Losing access to those TH6 collectors was huge. I had to grind for about a month after finishing TH8 before it got better. Did a fair bit of just minding my own collectors for a while. Concentrate on upgrading offense and it will get better.
Pretty soon you'll be knee deep in purple elixir and complaining that everyone keeps stealing your gold.

Also, what is the army you're using? I use Barch (only archers and barbs with some WBs and goblins to get to storages in the outer layer). Worked good at TH7, and still does at TH8... all those troops are maxed for TH8 though.
If you can't recover elixir at Th8, then you are doing something wrong.
I would suggest you to do collector raids with Barch at silver 1/gold 3. It's a cheap and quick army, and there are plenty of full collectors.
I myself am a 2 week old Th8, and I already have my archers at level 5 and my dragons are just 5 days away from level 3(for clan wars). And I still have plenty of unused elixir in my storages. So you see, elixir won't be a problem with that army at all.

Here are the breakdown of troop and cost for my typical battle:
wall Breaker L2 @ 2000 x 5 = 10000
Giants L4 @ 2000 x 5 = 32000
Goblin L2 @ 60 x 12 = 720
Archer L3 @ 120 x 16 = 1920
Barbarian L4 @ 80 x 56 = 4480
total cost per battle = 49120
Sometimes might need to spend extra 1 or 2 wall breaker so it's around 50,000 elixirs per battle.
I'm lucky to find even a player with 40k elixirs as loot.
I can't even collect enough elixir to upgrade my barrack, not to even mention to upgrade my troops.
I had no idea about the loot penalty before upgrading the townhall. It wasn't mentioned anywhere in the game.
This is inaccurate. Granted, the lettering isn't large, but it warns you each time you attempt to upgrade your Town Hall with a notification about the loot penalty for Town Halls below you.Quote:

I'm sorry but are you really ignorant? Tell us your trophy range, LISTEN to all the other suggestions that have been made and post a picture of your base.
Telling him to upgrade his troops is dumb if he can't get enough loot to cover expenses of his troop comp. why suggest that? I don't know how he made it to th7 period.
I suggest you youtube how to get a lot of loot and how to know if the loot is in the collectors/mines rather than the storages. Yu can easily get at least 100k of each resource just going after pumps if you know how to send troops in waves. Obviously if your 100 gobs got taken out in 3 mortar shots you're doig it wrong. You need to be patient and look for bases with their loot specifically in their mines and collectors because it will save you a lot of time and troops. A bunch of gobs can empty a collector in a couple seconds and on to the next one, where a mortar shot will probably be behind them. Gobs to 2x damage to resources, take advantage of that. They're cheap and extremely useful.
I feel like I'm wasting my time with this because he's not even going to pay attention to anything I just said. But it's worth a shot. Google and youtube how peoe get a lot of resources in raids and you'll be successful. That's all I gotta say

The problem obviously is that you upgraded to TH8 too early. Ideally your barbs and archers are both level five. Yours are very low at 4 and 3... So with those troops I suggest you trophy drop all the way back down to silver three (800-1000 trophies) because any higher and your fellow TH8s and maxed TH7s will kill you, you do this by purposely losing a battle, drop a barb and then quit.Quote:

It's OK guys. Looks like there's no turning back and there's no way I can proceed further. My elixir level drops hugely following every battle so there's no way I can develop my village anymore. I'll give up on this game. Thanks guys for your answers.

My trophy level is 1000. Silver 2. I tried fighting someone from 1200 range I got trashed.

I am th8 and I have never had problems with loot. I am constantly at more than 5,000,000 elixir and I am upgrading my walls to level 8 with the extra gold I get. Try going to around 1400-1500 cups and using this strategy:
92 barbarians
92 archers
8 wall breakers
Ideally you are not going to be using your wbs and your spells... I usually spend around 50'000 gold before I find a 200,000 gold 200,000 elixir base. From your comments it seems like you upgraded too fast and you don't really know how to attack properly (not being able to take down players in silver 1? Really? )
I'm also a TH8 and I'm having the exact opposite problem you are, my elixir storages are ALWAYS full. I've never found better loot than I have at TH8 and if you can't find a raid for more than 30k you're doing something wrong. Whenever I raid I never settle for less than 200k gold, I don't go for elixir since as previously mentioned I always have 6 million. There are several things I think you're doing wrong:
-Too low of a trophy league
Move your trophy count up to about 1300 at the very least. As a TH8 I farm in 1500-1800 and always find decent loot, but where you're at there probably isn't enough worthwhile raids. You have said already that you won't be able to beat anyone above your trophy league and that's untrue and your fault for upgrading early. There will be bases you can beat but if your problem is loot you shouldn't be looking for bases to beat, you should be looking for loot! MY recommendation is town hall snipe to get trophies and attack bases with lots of loot in their collectors, very simple. However, this is only feasible if you up your trophy level, I guarantee this is the main reason you can't find loot.
-Not hitting next enough times
This one is pretty self-explanatory, you simply don't hit next a lot. You need to spend gold to make gold, and you shouldn't be raiding one of the first 5 villages you see. Spend more time searching for a good base.
-Not prioritizing loot
As I mentioned earlier, you shouldn't be so interested in winning the battle than you should be in finding loot. Look for loot in collectors and take the loss, and then snipe people's town halls that are outside of their base to maintain trophy count.
-Uneducated on the basics of farming
Finally, at TH8 you should be farming in order to keep progressing in this game. I don't have any guides to link you to but a quick forum search or queue on Youtube would allow you to learn the basics. Essentially, put your town hall outside your base and protect your loot on defense. For offense I recommend using an army of half barbs and half archers and just raiding their collectors. Simple, cheap, effective.
Overall the only way things are gonna change is if you change them. You can't downgrade your Town Hall, and I guarantee these tips will work. Yes, you have to play a little different but that's the whole point of a game! To adapt to different circumstances and persevere. In conclusion, do what you want because it is a game to enjoy and if you won't enjoy it don't play it, but don't come on the forums whining about loot when plenty of people can do just fine at TH8 and don't immediately give up when a curveball gets thrown at them.
When you were TH 7 you should have been able to raid th7s as well now that your th8 you can still raid th7 with only a slightly loot penalty. Did you not max your barbs, archers and giants before upgrading?
Also you will probably need to Make sure you have someone in your clan to coach you since it sounds like you could improve how you attack if your having trouble.
Are toy sending all your troops up center? Often it helps to spread them out a bit to spresd splash damage.
Also I see some people in my clan messing IP by dropping troops too slowly and from a bunch of different sides too unfocused of an attack.
You wanna avoid both. Watch some YouTube video examples of how to bam and barch.

I rushed to TH8, was woefully undeveloped and it sucked for the first few weeks. Eventually I got my lab, spell factory and army camps upgraded and that helped.
You have two choices, either say 'woe is me!' slump in your chair and give up. ... or accept your new challenge and say "im going to beat this" .. decide what type of person you are and proceed.
Ok, if you cant break even in elixir, dont attack. The game will get insanely boring until you upgrade your troops. Wait on your collectors and if those arent maxed, get them maxed. You will slowly, but surely gain elixir, stay in a low trophy range where your storages wont get hit.
archers are the most important troop in the game. you are th8 now. get those to lvl 5 and you'r barbs also.
lol at complaining about loot with lvl 3 archers at th8.
