Balloonion with Heal or Rage?

I'm a TH8.

I use balloonion for War aiming for 2 stars on high TH8s or 3 stars on lower TH8s.
Should i use rage or heal for balloonion? Or a mix of both? I've seen attacks using both with success.

Heal seems to ensure a 2 star but rage seems to give a more likely hood of 3 stars due to its faster moving, just that you might not even get 2 stars if your baloons die off too quickly.

Level 5 balloons, level 2 minions. Will upgrade minions soon.
Level 5 rage, level 5 heal.

Heal.

The reason lies in the difference between level 5 and 6 balloons. Level 5 simply do not have the health or power to 2 star a base without a heal spell to keep them long enough for the Minions to clean up and ensure the 3 star. Rage, while speeding up Balloons killing things, is much riskier. I'm speaking from experience here. On my push into Crystal 1 with lvl 5 balloons, Heal was the only way to go, but I bet with level 6 balloons Rage is definitely the best.

EDIT: Talking more specifically, if you scout out your attack in the war before hand, look at the level of the Air Defense. If they have level 4 or below, you can probably use Rage and forget about Healing. If it's any higher, I think the loons will die too quickly, so I'd bring Heal for that case.

So, for a TH8 with level five ballons (soon, after my giants are done) and level two minions (maybe higher in the future :p) you'd recommend three Heal spells or two Heal spells and one Rage spell?

Rage to attack th8 and Heal to attack th9. Also you can use Balloon/Dragon in Clan Wars. I think this strategy is easier to three star new th9 bases.

What about for TH9 with stronger balloons and minions?

You have 3 spell slots.. why not both rage and heal?

Occasionally 3 lightning spells might be best. In some cases you can take out one high level air defense and a wizard tower all at once, which decreases the damage done to your air units a lot.

Mostly I end up using dragons and balloons in clan war, and this a combination I always look for.

Using the rage spell will speed up the group of balloons and increase their attack. Destroying a building quickly is better than trying to heal them while they are getting attacked. Just remember there is a time limit when attacking!

I do use balloons and dragons for war...I use 2 heal and 1 rage spell...rage near the air defences and if air defences are quite high use rage and heal simultaniously...depends on the base layout...but in last do what u feel better...good luck

I am a level 5 balloon user as well.
Due to balloon's clustering and slow moving nature, I feel heal can make more use of the spell. Not only does healing get you through wizard tower's multi-target casts, it also protects your group of balloons from air bombs. Rage on the other hand, like ChiefThomas mentioned, is riskier. But rage has its opportune moments.
I carry 2 heals and 1 rage, for my 24 balloons. Generally the plan is that I use 1 dragon to tank some hits, hopefully enough that it doesn't die, while balloons move in to take out the defense. Seeing where balloons lead, launch a second batch to support the first, use heal if necessary. Then a third batch, maybe another heal if necessary. I may use rage for the last stretch (if and when there are still defensive structures that pose threat to my balloons). If the attack is still decisive, I then use my clan castle dragon and balloon, following BK tanking for tier 1 ground troops to move in. And If the attack is a lost cause, I just leave up to my minions and ground troops to collect the aftermath of balloons.
Okay, this is a bit swayed from the topic, haha. Just wanna give my 2-cents on how I perceive balloons and spells in my attack.

Use rage. Balloons are slow, but strong. Speeding them up and increasing their damage makes them pretty good but their hitpoints are too low. Wait till you have level 6 balloons to use balloonion.

2 rage 1 heal. rage them to the core, then heal them. definitely heal when close to a wizard tower or two.

I always go with rage.
i see no point in using heal with loons if they cant heal faster than what damage an air defense does.
