After update 3 July 2014 no longer able to start COC on Lenco tab1014

Unfortunately after downloading the update today (3 July 2014) I am no longer able to play the game as it won't load on my tablet. It just keeps showing the Supercell splash screen at startup and that's it.

I am posting this in the forum as the only other way to report issues seems to be in-game which isn't usefull if the game does no longer start.

I hope this gets fixed as I may not be the only one.

My tabet is a Lenco-Tac1014

I did check my tablet for any memory issues obviously but othing found.
Other Supercell games start fine.

Have you tried using a VPN?

Dear Shivampaw, I have noticed this being your standard reply to these issues and I can see why.

However, VPN needs an endpoint for encryption tunnel to be build, so how would anyone do this if on a tablet using Wifi over a broadband nework instead of a cellphone?

Besides that, it would be a workaround, not a solution. The issue seems to be related to MTU size in the Supercell network.

I tried this free VPN peer and I can acknowledge that this works and COC loads. I still have huge issues with this being called a solution for several reasons:

1) if VPN works but general network not, this means there is a MTU size issue or IP defragmentation issue at the receiving end, it is as simple as that. Now, I can understand if you would not know but my daily profession is troubleshooting networking issues.

2) if an issues occurs after an update and not before, the cause is most likely in the update so the 'solution' should be in the application as well.

3) Supercell's ToS (Terms of Service) state the app canot be used under 13, Hotshield ToS states it may not be used under 18. This means a pretty large group of players having this issue are not legally able to use this.

4) Hotshield is full of adds unless you pay 4.99 USD which I don't think should be called a solution for a fremium game

At its best you can call it a workaround for an issue that exists.
I uninstalled Hotshield as the adds were driving me nuts over hte last 5 minutes I tiped this reply.
I simple retire untill Supercell fixed the root cause of this issue.

1 & 2) This happened last update, some devices and mobile providers cause problems for Clash updates, SC can't do anything.

Some extra info on this.
After I uninstalled the Hotshield VPN and rebooted my tablet it continues to work fine.

So, it seems the issue is only at first time load after the update installation.

Ehm, there is a difference between they can't or they won't invest money to investigate.
It is clear to me this is a MTU size issue and MTU size issues can always be fixed!
They can hire me if needed *grin*
Anyway, since it is tied to first time login I am going to leave it as is as well.

You can literally use any VPN app that will change the location etc.
