fishing for and setting off big bombs will probably be key now. Maybe send one or two in to set it off, before you deploy in bulk?

If you dont have enough hogs left to do clean up, you might end up with a win but no resource. In 2 mins, you will probably lose 10+ hogs to the heroes, more to the bombs, and the odds of cleaning out defences are slim to none.
Sure, on the right base with traps already triggered and mis placed heroes, hogs will be fine - but in war, with a good base layout, hogs will fail a lot more than ever before...it will be interesting to see how people adapt...
Some hoggers in my clan tried their first raid of the day with hogs (pre cooked during the night)...wasn't pretty...
However, my first raid was a barch and I got 300k! Heroes did not trigger and it was like taking candy from a baby ;)

What i am doing right now...
upgrade max all giant bombs and small bombs
Place 1 giant bomb with 2 small bomb inside mortar and wizard area
Now i got 3 deadly zone for hogs
because i am th 10
i still got 2 big bomb
place it inside hero and inferno area
now i got 2 more deadly zone for hogs
and with good placement of spring trap
thats mean HOG IS DEAD!!!!
just wait for a few week and enjoy a brand new trend of anti hog base
definitely gonna change my playstyle to baloonion with 4 rage spell and 1 heal spell if cannot using it anymore to defeat th 9 at clan war
Well, high level heroes will hurt more, and traps, always a problem. Agreed, CW attacking will be different. But hogs could still be a good two star strategy.
So far, the heroes really aren't keeping up with the hogs, at least as I've been seeing it. More damage to them for sure, but not a show stopper. I have more 3 stars with central heroes than two stars, however.
I'll keep at it until I run out of DE...
I like how the OG post raids are 30 minutes apart and he uses 4 Heals in every battle. I wont be gemming, I dont want to wait 2 hours between battles and burn 1700+ DE just to raid poorly designed bases for some positive gold/elixir.
Well designed bases will be much harder if not impossible to use an all out hog attack strategy. I came across a well designed base this morning with a level 4 archer that had defensive buildings around it. My lvl 5 hogs didn't make it out, and that was only a level 4 archer(although I admit I had no potions as my spell factory is on upgrade).
Brings another point if spells are now essential to even farm raiding, you should be able to use the spell factory while its been upgraded (much like the CC can be used while upgrading).
These changes affects more then hogs too, Golems, Giants all have the same issue, Balloons too, although BK is a non-factor and ballon splash dmg can take out the AQ. Defending got a big boost and raiding tactics are going to have to change drastically.
But yes, if your willing to burn 4 heal pots you can still hog through bases that aren't designed well (poor/no bomb traps, outside/exposed heros etc).
One potential solution: Since heroes are basically "Defensive Towers" now, then troops that favor defensive structures should now favor defensive buildings or heroes to help balance it out a bit.
Hogs without heal rarely work, sure, low level bases, but 2-4 heals are usually required unless your doing something like Unitysharp's combo(3-4 healers).
Gemming... don't hate, we all play how we want. Who cares how long I wait? Maybe I wanted to get more raids in before I posted this...
I am looking for centered heroes, and now trying some higher level heroes. The hogs are out running them. Sorry to say it, but it is happening.
