Drags, Balloons, and Minion thoughts

Just wondering about people's opinion about drags, balloons, and minions. Which do you think is the strongest army or combination? Drags and Balloons, Balloons and Minions, Just straight up drags, Straight up balloons, drags and minions, etc...

When I say stronger army I'm talking about in clan wars and the best chance of getting a 3 star even against buried or high level anti air defenses.

Don't forget to include spells and be respectful about others opinions please, you may disagree but don't argue or disrespect.

Oh by the way I'm TH8 with drags on their way to lvl 3, lvl 4 balloons, lvl 1 minions, 200 housing, and all lvl 4 spells.

mass drags.

loonion is great in clan wars if the bases air d is weak enough where you know you can 3 star them with it. it's alot quicker build then mass drags. and cheaper. it's also awesome for farming.

but for sheer power. mass drags.

Most popular strategies using these troops are Balloons + Minions and Mass Drags. With your troops you might want to use dragons because Balloons + Minions usually requires high level balloons (lvl 5+) to be effective. Mass drags is simple... everything dragons... with either all rage or lightnings to destroy air defenses. Mass Drags do take a little bit of skill concerning high lvl air defenses and you need a decent amount of experience to know where to place them. Balloons + Minions (aka Balloonion) is about 20-32 balloons and 40-60 minions with rage spells and maybe one lightning to kill castle troops. Balloonion only works when the balloons are at least level 5 but when you get level 6 balloons they are literally WWII Japanese Bombers. Is very reliable to get you at least 1 star but you need heros and clan castle troops to pull 3 stars. I think that about sums it up... :cool:

If you're looking for a 3 star ( Not 1, not 2, but 3 ) against a well developed th9/10, forget balloons.

All dragons, as someone will surely cover ;) ( pretty late and I am tired, sorry )

Drags won't work against a well developed th9/10. I would use hogs while you still can.

Even level 5 balloons, and maxed-for-th8 minions, with 3 spells, won't get you especially far vs central air defenses - certainly not 3 stars, unless you are talking about only attacking TH8 and even then 3 well upgraded central air def can wreck you.

Level 3 dragons with spells might, but it still depends on various factors including a bit of luck/skill in terms of deployment of troops and spells and b-king vs base design. Typically, I've seen TH9 getting a few 3-stars with max dragons, not TH8. The best 3-stars I've seen from TH8 are either mass hogs, or hogs with balloons+minions (but not necc. vs tough anti-air / anti-hog layouts).

I use hogs right now and I gotta admit they are crazy op! I almost feel like I'm ♥♥♥♥♥ing by using them. I used to use mass drags and got pretty good with them, being able to 3 star most th8 base with only lvl 2, but I wanted to use something more guaranteed since drags can be unpredictable at times. Even with lvl 1 hogs I have a 95% chance of 3 staring any maxed th8 base (just way too easy). Since i heard about the update I was considering going back to drags, but they are so boring. I fear after the update that th8 will be out of luck and not have many options in how to 3 star other well designed th8 bases. TH9 has so much more attack power (AQ, 4th spell, lvl 6 balloons, 20 more housing, larger cc----> JEALOUS!! lol). Im rambling, sorry.

Anyway, thanks for the input guys, I think I will just have to practice using some of these different tactics and see which one clicks best and gives me the best odds after the new update hits.

I use Balloons/Dragons for Clan Wars and it can wipe out any th8 base.

you wont get 3 stars against ant air base.i usually pass level 7 AD to the next person.all of the strategies will get 2 stars against a good anti air base

I use 9 drags and 8 balloons, use the loons to get rid of an air d. Now I just got to th 10, so not sure of the spell combo ill use. Maybe 3 lightning to rid myself of another air d, than 2 freeze to take care of last 2, but right now I use all rage. My drags are upgrading to level 4 as we speak and my spell factory also almost done upgrading, so any th 10'ers care to share their spell combos best for an all drag combo?

One pain for all drag armies is when they got builder huts in the corners:mad:.
