Dark Elixir! Impossible to protect at th 7 and 8

I suggest more severe dark elixir loot penalty for higher th raiding a lower th. Th 7 gets dark elixir solely from raids. Th 8 has 1 collector but it is of course not sufficient supply for doing the dark troop upgrades. Raiding is the major source of dark elixir for lower th. As a th 8 i hunt dark elixir by hitting higher villages than mine. It is hard work to hunt for dark but that is not my complain, i dont mind the challenge. My frustration is when TH 9 and TH 10 feed from the lower TH income. Dark elixir losses of more than 1000 per attack may take more than 2 or even more tries for a TH 7 or 8 to replace it. Even with serious defense, TH 8 cannot protect the dark storage. After the storage fills with more than 20000 dark you loose significant amount each time you get raided by level 6 troops. I have been able to contain enough to upgrade my hogs to lvl 3 but I find it very difficult to keep 40000 of dark needed for the next upgrade. I cant imagine saving up for valkyre or golem upgrades... I cannot afford to hover over my village 24/7 neither can afford using gems for the bulk of dark upgrades needed to advance. If you have been able to do your dark troop upgrades as TH 8 please post some tips! Also supercell, please consider a separate loot penalty for dark elixir! There is gold and purple elixir in abundance due to the higher number collectors that produce at higher rate. There is no comparison between those and the dark, therefore the loot penalty scale should be adjusted. TH 9 and TH 10 should start playing at a higher level rather than robbing lower th for dark. Very true.

I give full support - I just made my DE storage!

IKR, especially with a lot of people lightning DE storages, it is almost impossible to save for BK or the expensive DE upgrades.

The loot penalty above TH 8 for DE (if raiding TH 7) should be - 40%.

The loot penalty needs no change. The way to go about upgrading heroes is BARCHing for DE all in one blow. Nothing needs changing.

We do that. But the TH 9s and TH 8s just keep bullying us with their attacks. A viscous circle. TH 7s are worse off in terms of defence/offence than others.

And the loot penalty now is too small to accommodate that difference.

I'm a late th8 and i have no problem keeping my de safe. i farm in crystal 2 and keep my town hall in a corner. best way to keep your de safe is to get sniped by a th7 trying to push to masters. my attempt at an antihog base keeps the hogs away and my skull walls keep the giants away. nothing needs to be changed

Not exactly common.

Plus, you're TH 8, with lots of stronger troops and defences. Skull walls. IMO Th 7 is the problem at the moment. We can't exactly make anti-hogs - you have 50 + walls. You're late TH 8. Plus you have a drill.

Well it's OK if loot penalty isn't changed for you - but not exactly that great down here at TH 7.

Nothing needs to be changed. I'm a th 9 and I never find th 7s with good dark elixir. If you are losing 200 per attack thats not a lot.

Yup, I'm a late th9 and i never raid a th7. The loot penalty is so severe it doesn't make it worth while as there are much richer th8's and th9's put there to raid.

If th8's are raiding you....welcome to clash of the clans...get used to it. Improve your base design and your defences. A solid th7 should be able to hold off most th8's attacks. If you've got poor defences, poor base design or are trophy hunting too high, its not SC's problem. You should be sitting somewhere in silver 3 or 2 maybe silver 1 if you're an advanced th7. That's well below what most th8's will farm in.

There are plenty of mechanisms to keep the game balanced as it is.

I agree with the rest, nothing needs to be changed. I am currently a TH 9, raiding a TH7 for DE is really useless for me IMO. The loot is less, spending lightning for DE is not really worth it, i rather up my trophy and go hunt for DE in C1 or C2.

I was a TH7 before, and i understand your problem. The key here is to move your TH outside so you get a free shield. Also, keep on farming for DE to upgrade your BK fast. You decide which resource you want to target, Gold or DE, then focus on that.

So those of you who are saying you were able to protect your dark elixir at th level 8 you actually were able to collect 60000 to do your golem upgrades? I kept my Th out in a corner while I was trying to collect 40000 dark but it was useless because while I have a shield I am not able to produce enough elixir to get my research lab going. Also chances are that you will not get hit only by ambitious lower Th which is trying to climb to crystal or masters, you will be found by the Th 9 and 10 and that is a very easy victory for them. Guaranteed win and then drop all troops to raid the dark. After you reach 20000-25000 of dark you can loose 1200 easily in one raid. After you reach 30000 you loose 1800-2000 in one raid. I m not online 24/7 so i am not able to keep barching 24/7 to get 10000 or 20000 of dark in one sitting. The tips you give us we have tried but do not work. The reality is that th 9 and 10 are finding easy target on th 8 and some Th 7 who were able to fill their dark storages with a pretty good amount. I have been th 7 so i know i have been raided by th that i was unable to revenge for the dark i lost. So if you guys have any better tips let us know. I know how to play the game so i m not just whining.

Currently i am Th 8 , exp 79, and in my heroic achievement i have been able to raid 268,473 of dark. My teslas are up to level 4 my bk is 6, my mortars are six*2 and one 5, all my wizard towers are maxed and so are the cannons, air defenses are lvl 5, my dark drill and storage is maxed, arch towersare lvl 9 and 10, all my wall are lvl 7 with 45 of them lvl 8 surrounding th and teslas and dark storage. Giant bombs and air bombs are also maxed.
