Never. Plan your attacks better.
I really am very surprised at this post. The time limit is one of the best challenges in the game. It means, that you do not have time to dawdle, to text a friend, to call your Mom. You actually have to be in the moment and pay attention!
I guess that could be quite hard for some, but being in the moment, is ORSM!
If you don't get the job done in the time provided, PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!
OR just find another person to attack, there's plenty of resources out there.

Happens to me quite a bit, but hey thats the game. Its usually taking on high level well upgraded bases. Especially if they have CC troops, theres just not enough time to kill everything. I can usually tell when I can't get everything but I attack anyways if I think what I can get is still profitable. Its a judgement call really, and a lot betterthan losing your whole army with a lot of time left!
Only one time has the clock really beat me... I made this super awesome dragon army for a revenge but my original target was on a shield, so i just kept clicking the revenge button till I found a good target, forgetting to do any reconnaissance before hand (ie I had no idea what was in the clan castle. So is start the battle and poke around and ponder, trying to bait the CC troops little by little, finally I get the CC troops out of the picture and I'm ready to start the dragon onslaught for certain victory and lots of loot.... But wait, the numbers start blinking and getting big NOOOOO... I rage drop my dragons, achieve nothing, and gave someone a really funny replay to watch.
something about dragon armies makes me lose all attacking intelligence... I need to read pings strategy!
