Do you need Elixir at TH8?

I have been looking through tons of farming bases for th8. I look for the most versatile design. But, again and again, I see base that have elixir on the outer layer of walls. So, do you need to farm a lot of elixir and is it worth keeping away from the edge? Right now, I am using the Circle of Death and the first non-snipe was from a th9 with level 5 barbs and level 6 archers. He got 39%. He got half of 2 storages. If elixir is not a protection priority, what is the best base for gold and elixir(and why is not needed)?

P.S: I am a fresh th8

Alot of the bases you are problably seeing are more advanced for th8s who have their lab and army camp upgrades done, thats pretty much all you need it for.

yes, elixir is extremely important. Most players do elixr upgrades before gold upgrades. So i would protect the elixir the most at the start of TH 8.

dont let those storage locations be permanent bro. Your gonna wanna move them around depending on which resource you have most of or need currently. IF you spend all your gold theres no reason for those storage to be more protected overnight than the elixir so switch them around. Most well designed bases have some storages more protected than others its normal but when you have a good amount of both an want to protect both try mixing them up. IE make one elxir storage swapped with a gold storage. that way if someone is elixir farming or gold farming he would need to take out most of base to grab all storages as oppossed to someone grabbing whichever one is maxed on outside. I find this makes most people not want to attack you so you have more time for a shield

My clan is X-BOW INFERNO IGN:ben im gold 11 (in game name)
I never got attacked fully always get free shields

Imo elixir is never in short supply at th8 if you raid enough. Usually have maxed 6 mil elixir, probably have wasted tens of millions of elixir at th8 because it wouldnt fit.

alright, i think i can settle for a base that protects gold and dark elixir more than elixir

The thing is when I got my new TH8, I focused more on getting all the Elixir upgrades done first as most of the TH9-10 players on this forum had suggested and after I was done with all the elixir upgrades (except the lab), elixir was never a issue anymore. I never cared how much elixir the attackers took in raid because next few days it would again be full. I have been mainly using BAM, BARCH & Giant-Healer-Wiz (once elixir was almost full) attacks.

Right now, my current situation is this:-

If you're very active, you should never ran out of elixir on th7/8/9/10 once you've done your camps and drills.

Thanks for the info. We are using the same base right now. I like using giant-healer-wiz a lot, but i dislike the added amount of time with the healers. I am avoiding bam right now because I want all de that is stolen to go the bk until i can do the last upgrade to lvl 5. Barch does not work for storages that well and I haven't found many collector raids lately. Any attack suggestions?

You can go to silver league where you find rich TH7 and new TH8 with lots of available loots. Then you can use 8-10 giants and few wallbreakers to distract the defenses and break the walls near the storages. Also put some archers and barbs to support them from behind. Next put lots of goblins targeting those storages and if needed put rage spell on them if all the storages are in same place.

I used to do the same when I was new to th8 and after getting lvl 5 troops I used to it with Barch. Hope it helps :)

I never find any loot in silver anymore. farming in gold 3 atm

Silver league worked for me, it might or might not work for others. Timezone is also a factor sometimes. Some get good loots early in the morning, some get at night. You can always move between different leagues and find out which one works for you better and stay there.
