A friend wants to do it for the achievement (he is like 150 short for the 4th). I told him not to because it will take too long. He seems committed though. In my view, its better to do it at TH7. At least you can grab some free DE in crystal league.
I also ask him to rush past TH6. He again doesnt listen and keep farming for pink walls.
Well, it don't really take that long I seen a town hall 3 got to crystal league, and a town hall 6 got to champion league and it is right now in Quantum's Web. For me it took about a week since you don't get a lot of trophies by sniping. You get around 6 trophies per raid.
Obviously, it depends on how long you play.
I am a casual player. I went from TH2 to TH6 sniping up to crystal 1. Took me about, oh, three weeks or so. Maybe a bit longer. The higher you get the longer it takes to find a snipe.
As for army comp, I used all archers. Even when someone has a 'sucker hole' TH, (surrounded by Tesslas and traps), the archers can still punch through for the win.
Tell you friend good luck and be ready to wear his 'next' finger down to a nub.
A solid [quite a] few hours will get you there in a day if your friend is committed. Its important to not fall for the trapped townhalls. Teslas don't matter too much, you should use multiple fingers to overwhelm them. However, stay away from mortars and wizards, or you probably wont be able to finish the townhall, even with your entire army. Remember to check for bombs before deploying fully.
idk, when I was a th7 leagues didn't even exist...
I did it a few days ago and it took me three days. Only sniping and I lost about 150 trophies on the way due to defense and fails. Two hours per day and I started from G3 though
I'm sniping right now from 1470 trophies. Playing in hour-long sessions, currently at 1657 trophies from pure sniping. Total time about 2-3 hours or so.
EDIT: You earn an awesome amount of DE as well. I got 4K just today from zapping and mostly taking out drills.

I went to crystal 3 as TH6 and it's not that hard, all the Gold leagues are stuffed with farmers.

Well....if you're a hardcore sniper you should be winning about 100 attacks......100 x 8 (the average number of trophies per snipe) = 800. 1250+ 800= 2050.
Dont forget to throw defences in their too!

I used a barch army and averaged 100-150 trophies an hour depending on where I was. The higher you get you'll see an increase in outside ths. when you're lower, there aren't so many. And then once you hit 2000/2100, you'll see the outside ths decrease.
