My clan was generally bad at attacking when wars began. We had a few guys that were decent but the majority had pretty much no clue--we had all been mainly farming. But the leaders (I'm co-leader) encouraged people to watch videos and learn from people who were much better. The better ones would also provide tons of feedback on both general strategy and small mistakes people were making in their attacks. There's been a huge transformation and we're now all pretty solid (there are a few that just don't get it, but they do try, and contributed to the clan in other ways).
If people aren't willing to learn and just keep making the same mistakes over and over again--and you guys have pointed out to them the mistakes they're making--then it might be time to start kicking people. If it's clear in the clan description that you guys are active in clan wars, and you create a positive environment where you're all helping one another to improve, then it's fair game to kick people who refuse to take part in that. Obstinately continuing to make the same mistakes over and over while ignoring feedback/constructive criticism is a form of inactivity itself in my opinion.
Or maybe, that your clan has way too many kids in it. Keep the mature ones that understand and communicate with the clan. That's why Adult clans have good reputations. :)
I have the exact same problem. We are a clan of 20 are top 4 players always do great 4-6 stars. The rest of are clan which Bert's between premie TH8s to TH5s are absolutely horrible. They try the stupidest attacks drop spells in the same spot they drop their troops just to watch them immediately run out of the spell range every single attack. I've tried to talk to them on multipul occasions and they just don't listen or learn from mistakes. Until recently we always won only because the clans we fought were mostly inactive they would mainly use 15 at most of the 40 attacks and everyone would always say great win great job everyone while I would just laugh to my self knowing we only one cause the other team didn't even really attack. So the past 3 wars we have been fighting active clans. We won one of these barely because the other clan was just as horrible. We are in a war now one of are TH8s troops composition was 5 giants,5 hog riders from CC he dosnt even have them and the rest wizards and archers. He dropped the 5 giants in 5 different locations and dropped a heal spell on one of them along with 2 archers and 15 wizards all together to take out the spell factory they were all taken out by mortars and a wizard tower and than spreads archers around base dropped a rage spell on about 5 of them. Sorry for the really long rant but needed to get that out. I really want to leave the clan but have a couple IRL friends which is the only reason I'm still here don't know how much more I can take though. No one will take any advice and just ignore you when you try to help.
I feel for ya, dude. Truly. You can understand the frustration of reviewing some of these people's replays and asking yourself if they were raiding completely blind.
I appreciate everyone's feedback and thoughts. Sadly, I cannot post the replays here. I don't know how and I'd imagine it would be a lot of work and very time consuming, and I especially don't think my internet would be fast enough to upload a replay.
Despite this, I do know their problems. Each and every one of them, I can review their replays and point out exactly what they are doing wrong. The TH 9 I described is premie, but hasn't even upgraded or used any of the benefits of TH 9 besides building one xbow. He can't raid for his life, couldn't even beat a Town Hall 7 (he did an attack with 20 wall breakers, 25 giants and 2 witches with some other garbage - seriously?), but when I discussed kicking this member, I got backlash from other members about being too serious, yet they complain to me and criticize me for leading poorly when we can't win wars. It's a lose-lose for me.
My clan is very unique in that we have a mixture of serious players and casual players, and I cannot pick a direction without pissing off a bunch of people. I know as leader that's my burden to bare, but this clan wasn't even made by me, it kind of fell into my lap when the former Leaders weren't able to control anything, so I got handed a very disfunctional clan and I don't want to see it fall apart, although I really wish I could be in a clan with more functional people sometimes.
I really think I just need to overhaul the clan if I want to continue leading it, and I'm not even sure I want to. It's difficult for me to recruit and continue farming since it's almost pointless trying to recruit below Crystal. It's also difficult for me to lead a clan when I'm given backlash for any decisions I make. However, I'm going to have to put my foot down and revise this clan if it's going to have a chance.
I appreciate everyone's help.
Your clan is not unique. Mine was the same and in the beginning we had horrible results in clan wars. We made a lot of hard cuts and have become very successful. The truth is, and I think you recognise this, you can't have it both ways. If you want to keep the casual members then you will not be successful. If you decide to be a farming clan then the guys who do want to war will get fed up with losing and start to leave. You need to have a conversation with your clan and decide on a path to take, it won't be easy.
We had 5 farmers and 5 casuals in our wars.
Our casual players attacked with 10 dragons (+1 in clan castle).
You read me. 10 dragons. The best part of 10 dragons is you can just drop them all in 1 place against a TH7 and rub your face on the device and 3 stars appeared miraculously. Lol.
That's because he knew his clan is going to win the war.
We told him that there's no point of keeping elixir. It's better to "convert" them into gold by spending it on dragons and getting the gold from the war bonuses.
Usually we only have 2 or 3 casuals attack with 10 dragons. They got to pick any target they want but they have to get 3 stars (and they always do) and they can use another attack to farm (trying to get 1 star by sniping TH). We farmers deal with the rest.
That worked for us because we had 5 core members.
3 members including me have at least 75% skull walls, almost maxed TH 8 defenses, and level 3 dragons.
1 member only has purple walls TH 8 but maxed all the offenses except hogs. He is farming DE.
1 member is premmie TH 10 with maxed hogs, 5 spells, and 220 army camp capacity.
Literally us farmers can 3 stars any TH with combined levels of air defenses below 14 and no infernos with 10 dragons.
The bases we can't 3 stars with dragons is hogged by our TH10 premmie. We always give the bases with most DE loot to our TH10 premmie friend so he makes profit from his hog attacks even when he's using dragons.
From a clan that loses all the time we beat a clan with 29 wars won with a whooping 26 to 19 stars difference.
This is what we call teamwork. We'd rather win together and lose together as a team rather than falling apart.
If those members of yours were really friends with you i am sure they would be considerate towards you. This isn't just a raid - this is a team game. It's a clan war.
My clan is 22-1 in wars currently.
The whole point is communication!! Clan: Thunder Pickles
You can't fight the pickle.
I truly feel your pain. Our clan at 21.5k trophies at least lvl 65+ and we have already won 17 wars but we are on our 6 war loss streak
