My Clan Sucks at Wars

Hey forum,

The title puts it pretty bluntly. My clan is the absolute worst clan I have seen perform in wars, and I'm tired of starting them only to see what we're doing in our current war... The enemy has only 3 more attacks than us and double our stars. We have currently lost four wars in a row and we're working on our fifth loss now, though previously we have won 7/11 wars! Also keep in mind some of these clans have been ghosting, but not all the members and I don't think it's what made us lose.

My lower members (Town Hall 6 and below) are just awful. I've even gone so far as to speak to each of them individually on how they can improve their war attacks, and so far, no fruits of my labor have actually been produced. I'm now taking further steps in making our members get Skype so I can have better outside communication with them (not video chats, just instant messaging) and show them how they can do better.

It's getting frustrating when I'm consistently getting anywhere from 4-6 stars for my clan easily every war when 50% of my clan are raiding like they're using their feet. Should I just be kicking those who don't improve? I'm at a loss of what to do to improve our performance.

We're on our 8th winning streak.
We kicked all the inactives and lame attackers.
IMHO clan wars is a team game - it is not meant to be won individually but as a team therefore if i see anyone attacking with tier 1 troops it is a red flag for kicking.
Also it's okay to be premmie in terms of defense but in terms of offense as a team you should always have the most up-to-date troops.

And also, because clan war matchmaking is measured by combat strength - walls, towers, troop levels, and heroes' levels, in a clan where the combat strength varies greatly, one may not expect lower ranked members to carry stars. It is the top ranked member's responsibility to win the war.
If this is the case of your clan, you should focus on your core attackers to win the war and let the lower ranked members farm (getting at least 1 star and resources to upgrade).

Poor performance in wars could be a number of things:

Are you getting matched up against clans with better defenses? Do they have higher lvl players that are filling all the lower level players clan castles with max drags or other maxed troops that're derailing your players attacks?

Are you people attacking too high in regards to where they are placed on the war map? You don't want your people that're 40-45 on your war map attacking the 10-15 bases on the enemies war map.

Does the other clan have a high level player with their TH exposed, leading to a lot of your players sniping it for the easy one star for the loot? We have a strict no sniping policy in my clan in clan wars, a TH snipe will automatically get you a boot.

Are you booting players that don't participate in the wars? We also boot any players that don't use either attacks, and if we lose we'll boot players that only used one attack sometimes as well.

Are you people just generally unskilled in attacking for stars? Are they schooled and practiced in the various strategies such as giant-healer, giant-wizard, balloonion, gowiwi, gowipe, mass drag, hogs, etc?

Do your players have proper clan war bases? Make sure they aren't simply using trophy defense designs as this differs from a proper clan war base, in clan wars there should be no regard for the storages as they have high hitpoints and can be used in outer rings to slow attackers down and you don't actually lose any loot for them getting destroyed.

Review/replay the attacks from your members, see what strat they're using and whether they're just making bad choices, ie. not luring heroes and cc troops first, using poor armies such as all barbs or all archers or even barch or poor spell usage.

This is a new clan, less than 2 weeks old, but core members come from a solid clan with lots of war wins.
We follow specific strategy and everyone has to use their 2 attacks.

There are a number of red flags

1. Doesn't use spells or cc troops
2. Uses tier 1 farming strategy
3. TH snipes before the war is won
4. Picking inappropriate target ie TH10 attacks a TH7
5. Some people just suck at attacking

It is a team effort and unless everyone is playing their part you will not succeed. My clan went from 45 members down to 20-25 for clan wars and we've now won 21 wars with a win rate of about 8/10. Once you take out the trash you also need to get your clan strategy together.

It's just that most of my clan doesn't know how to raid, and I don't know how to make them better. I don't just want to kick the people because they suck at raiding when they try and are good people and members otherwise, but they REALLY bring us down in the war. One of our TH 6s attacked another TH 6 and he did not get a single star on their lowest member. It's ridiculous. One of our TH 9s attacked a premie TH 10 (no infernos or xbows) and LOST, then attacked a premie TH 8 and LOST! I don't want to kick them, but if I have to, that's what it will come down to.

If you want to win clan wars, and they don't seem to be improving, then kick them.
It might seem harsh but clan wars has really changed clans (at least in my case) the weak ones get kicked and only the good attackers remain.
Currently on a 5 win streak.

No one is good at the start. I think you are right to give your clan mates chance.
How could a TH9 get no star against premmie TH8? Can you post the replays so that us fellow forumers can analyze what went wrong and why.

We kicked inactives soon after the start of clan wars as it was apparent they undermine the war effort. We have a couple underachieving attackers still that have been long time solid members. With a lot of coaching and positive reinforcement they have slowly gotten better. It is extremely painful and somewhat exhilarating to watch them grow into decent raiders though.

One of the things we do is have a brief recap of attacks/defenses after each war. The leaders start and point out the high and low points of their own raids. It has helped open lines of communication with those struggling.

Sounds like you have a some tough decisions to make. My advice - kick the dead weight and be extremely picky when getting new members to replace them. It's all about quality members not quantity when getting serious about clan wars.

If they don't listen/improve, kick 'em and get some better members.
