How to Decide When and Who To Promote to Co-leader?

With the co-leader rank added a few months ago came many disagreements in my clan; elders who thought they deserved co-leader but didn't receive it got upset and left, there were fights between those who received co-leader, and there are constant elders asking when they will receive co-leader. As the leader, that puts me in a tough spot when I know if I don't promote someone, they will be upset and leave , but at the same time, that makes others want to be co-leader seeing that I promoted someone else. Of course everyone wants co-leader...At one point in our clan, we had 17 or 18 co-leaders (which was terrible) out of 40, but now we are down to 5 co. My question is: How do you decide when someone should be co, and when they should be promoted? I know I'm not the only one nor the last with this question, so any advice and help whether from direct personal experience or wherever the advice comes from is appreciated. :)

I think you need to decide from the start or Today on how many do you feel you need ? If 5 is just fine for you ..then post in Clan description Co-Leader 5 ONLY.. and Stick to it..lose one then you can slowly promote a elder..set standards, like contributions, donations, teaching to other members, Cw wins, CW WB donations. those are things you can decide on your own the amounts per standard that someone does all the time to help your Clan is worthy of a Elder or Co-leader. And make sure they are consistent even when they are not Elder or Co-leader. If I was you, don't tell anyone in the clan of your standards. Write them down and keep an eye on members that hit most your standards over and over.. Those are your loyal members then and they should be elders/Co-leaders soon.

It is good that they are all fighting.. I know it sounds messed up, but that's where you will find who is who.

Those people who left, were there for the power - Not the clan.

Those who stayed, are there for the clan.

The ones who are Elder and are not arguing/complaining are good candidates for Co.

The ones who are Co and are arguing with Elders are bad choices - Co's should solve the problem, never argue.

You can also include in the clan policy as: Rank begging not allowed.
