I have been saving gems for a long time now. I have also got some iTunes gift cards. I am up to almost 12,000 gems. I don't now how to spend them. Should I speed up my building time? Or should I buy gold and elixir with it? I want to get the most out of every gems. I have saved to long just to throw them away. I already have all five builders. Thanks

I use gems for the following:
1. Boosting barracks. Can make a killing in 2 hour periods boosting 3 barracks. Sometimes I'll boost the spell factory along with it. Have boosted my hero as well, but not really sure its worth it. I thing there's probably better value in boosting the spell factory instead of hero (if you don't really care about the purple stuff).
2. Freeing up builders if I have full gold or DE storages and I'm about to go offline or keep raiding for a while. I'll gem the remaining time of build, then dump gold into walls and following build.
3. Spell factory upgrade. I'm not about to go 5+ days without spells. It's just not viable, especially being in a clan which is active in clan wars
Other than that I'd just save the gems for more boosting in the future. I might gem the lab upgrade as well if you have a ton cause troop upgrades take soooooo long and it sucks having that sit around a few days just upgrading itself and not upgrading troops. Hope that helps!

Barrack Boosting = BEST way to spend imo.
Gemming Time is the 2nd best way (to free up builder or whatever, also im including gemming spell factory upgrade in this since u should never not have spells )

gemming resources becomes a paradoxical situation where u are paying to not play a game, u pay to play. (not my words but i whole heatedly agree)
Order of priority should be offensive capability such as troops, spell factory, and army camps. This is because you use money to make money.
Gem only builders and time; ever resources.
Then raid till you max gold, then gem the longest upgrade/research. This is because of slight discount on longer lengths.
Resources you can farm; time you cannot.

Don't do anything but boost barracks, spell factory and barb king/archer queen if nesscary. Do it forever and you will be rich in no time:cool:
Boosting barracks you are increasing the rate you make resources. That is in effect an indirect method of gemming resources.
If you are a competent farmer, you should be able to max your gold between next builder becomes free. Thus, the only limiting factor to which you max your base is the length of upgrades. In short, gem the time.
Like the others are saying do 2hr raiding session with boosted barracks you will get much more loot than just buying reasources!
