Question About Times In Town Shops

(Moderators, feel free to relocate this thread - I just couldn't find another place where it looked like it should go......)

I'd like to know why the visitors in town have to stay so long in each shop after they have received the items they asked for. I can understand them hanging around for fifteen or twenty minutes, maybe even an hour - but more than that is just beyond ridiculous! If a visitor in the bed & breakfast wants blackberry jam and you don't have any made, they'll be there SIXTEEN HOURS - eight to make the jam, then they just sit there another eight hours!!!!
WHY?????????????????????

It's part of the game. You yourself wouldn't go go to an actual bed & breakfast and only stay 20 minutes. Just like everything else, it has waiting times. This is time management game not a rush & get it done game. And about the products they ask for, build up a stock of items. Why do you think you are able to expand your barn? To store items for later. Or you could always send them away if you don't have the item(s) try are asking for.

I really like this aspect of the game, I think it is clever and forces us into using our time management skills and stock building savvy. So many of my customers want soup at the moment that they stay in the town for days! My heart sinks when i see the order. But, that's the game, it would soon be boring without a few difficult customers. :)
I would only note with sadness that the jam is now so precious that it is impossible to keep enough on hand to serve town and boat requests, so I find myself passing on too many boats, or feeling unable to help other people with crates, and it would be fun to have enough to sell sometimes.

If it wasn't for my soup customers clogging up the system, I probably wouldn't have time to make enough jam for my jam customers, so maybe the soupers are a blessing in disguise.

It's a game, not a simulation.

The timing construct is a part of every other function in the game, and the length of time required to wait is relative to the reward given.

I think the times are fairly realistic. People don't go to B&B's to buy jam, they go there to spend the night. Obviously, that's going to be at least 8 hrs. Three hours is reasonable for a movie (kind of a long movie, but not unheard of). One hour for grocery shopping and 2-1/2 hours for a restaurant meal are also reasonable, IMO. A half-day at the spa is perfectly normal. (I was afraid that one was going to be days, since spa weekends are a thing, at least around here.)

And you can get those times down with upgrades.

And yes, the way to deal with it is to build a stockpile, especially of slow-to-produce items like jam. While you are building that stockpile, you may have to send away visitors who ask for it. I try to keep 20 of each. (Ten of each when my barn was smaller.)

I also try to put visitors into the buildings that are likely to be trouble first; if they ask for something I don't have or don't want to give, I can send them away without losing anything. For me, the spa and the grocery are the worst. Because they ask for lobster tails at the spa, and for lots and lots of sugar at the grocery.

Yes. I like the way it's designed. The times are aspect of the game.

If you don't want to wait, there is an option to speed up using diamonds. Which no one prefers :P
OR make service time upgrades

I am always out of things but I have no complaints regarding those.
Sometimes my visitor has to wait more than 2 days especially for hot chocolate. I never have white sugar to make them :(

One thing is I am never out of jams till now even though many visitors ask for them nor do I ask my neighbors for it :D
May be you also can manage -
Make those jams which you don't have or you have the lowest of
Send away boats which have Jam+1 difficult product
Don't let Jam maker rest

Yup, I no longer fill jam crates or truck orders. Unless I have extras I want to get rid of.

For me, it's just not worth it. I already have all the boat and truck achievements. I've unlocked everything there is to unlock, and bought everything I want to buy. I don't need any more coins, XP, or vouchers.

But I still need expansion items, so all my jam goes to the town.

Seriously, I can't imagine myself going to a spa and ask for a lobster tail, or a few dozens of corn/carrot. A few of them go to B&B and only ask for a cup of coffee, while some others intend to make a feast. That's just hilarious ;)

I agree! It always gets me when someone requests a couple of coffee beans to munch on. :D

But on topic, I also think the wait times are realistic. This is not a dash around as fast as possible game. I gave those up when I found hay day!!

But when you've completely maxed out the waiting time upgrade, then it suddenly becomes the dash around game ;). Imagine 1,5 ~ 2 hours for the B&B :p

It never gets that low. Something like 6 hours is the max.

Honestly, I'm not sure it's worth upgrading once you have all the slots open. The time, coin, and XP improvements are fairly minimal for what you pay.

To me times seem pretty realistic as well and to be honest if everything was really short in serving time you need the trains to come in much faster and if that were to happen we all can't keep up with all townies eating away our products.

I am already experiencing a drop in many items like my sugar, dairy and jam stock and hardly do any boats and trucks these days as I have only the town to work on.

haha that would be nice however my hubby already maxed out the time reduction on the B & B and the cinema. For those 30% is as far as she goes.

I'm pretty much the same but I have found I have more items available than ever before. The townies don't ask for the quantities that the boats and little people do. I have more jam now than ever before. My townies don't ask for that much soup though so that's a weird thing.

Anyway, what I do is instead of staying in my farm all day, I come back every hour or two, just to tend my cows and chickens, load up my sugar and dairy and sauce machine (gotta use those eggs) and I stack. My barn is over 2000 but I keep it full so I can stack. I am even stacking metal bars. It works well for me.

After rearranging the townies and serving them, I have enough barn space to collect from cows but not feed them, feed my pets and start to collect feed. Each time I get the barn full notice I start working on production. If you do the things requiring silo products you can cue up the popcorn, juice, jam, smoothie, etc. Then I work on dairy, cakes, pies. Depending on how much I need to produce, sometimes I make a cake, then collect feed or another egg or two. Sometimes I have to collect popcorn or juice because I have reached my limit to stack. Other times I collect sugar or cream because I need a cake or something. It's a really thought provoking processes and I love it. Yes I send more of my boats away but I can continue to help others I just don't fill all their crates all the time like I used to. The focus now is leveling up in the town and collecting TEM. When that's all expanded I imagine my game play will change again. That's what I love about the game

And as far as the times go. I think they are very realistic. Some of the items requested are odd. I am still not sure what these guys do with the eight pumpkins in the cinema though. That's an odd one. SC should add pumpkin seeds to the candy machine and dump the pumpkin requests. Oh well

The max time reduction on any of the buildings is 30%, and for the B&B that translates to mean approx. 5 1/2 hours serving time instead of 8. I'm one reduction away and can't wait. It's not worth it for the grocery store, but it sure is worth it for the rest of the buildings. On the other hand...and as been stated in other responses...if you process visitors too quickly, they can mow through your premium products in no time flat. I'm now experiencing a domino effect where my visitors for the past month have focused on all things fish related, including soups, salads, fish burgers, fish pies and raw fish and lobster to the point where I'm now booting out anyone who wants these things for as many days as it's going to take me to build my stock back up. I was such a sucker for the little gifts that I've gifted myself right down to zero on many of those items, sadly enough. The domino effect comes into play because I am now getting low on lures as well, so I'm having to cut way back on who I serve for the next few days at least so as to get the lures and subsequent fish back up to normal amounts. And then I think I might start stacking products like Tigg does because my next project, now that I have my baby farm up and running very smoothly (level 17 today!) is to expand my barn some more. Level 1150 was fine for months until the town came along, and now 1200 isn't sufficient. But that right there is the beauty of this game - time and resource management. :)

And I'd like to know why ANYONE would need 35 ears of corn!! It wasn't at the grocery store where it might make sense (don't remember which building) but it was an eye opener for sure.

I guess I'll just have to deal with it then. :-( I've already done one time upgrade on most of the buildings, but the needed materials for more upgrades just don't show up fast/often enough.

I remember reading somewhere way back when I started playing that it wasn't supposed to be a good idea to run more than one farm on one device. Did I misunderstand something? I've been reading about people having "feeder farms" - sounds like something I'd like to explore but I don't want to jeopardize what I've got built up on my main farm.

You remember correctly, definitely not good to have more than one game on one device...in this case it is a separate game on a separate device, with a separate GC and Apple account.

I'm not so sure. For the B&B, I tend to let it run all night while I'm asleep and all day when I'm at work. And it's usually not full anyway, so getting people through faster doesn't seem that urgent.

Maybe if I had a bigger neighborhood, but as it is, my town and my buildings usually aren't full.

Though I guess there's nothing else to do with TEMs. Once you and your neighbors have all maxed out slots, might as well upgrade the speed, coins, and XP.

It's different for the buildings that require SEMs or BEMs. I might never fully upgrade those, because I'd rather use the expansion items to upgrade my barn and silo.

It's possible (but risky) on Android. You have to be very careful to load the right farm.

I suspect most people who have feeder farms are running them on other devices. People have multiple phones and tablets in the household, and have a different game (connected to a different GC or FB account) on each.

Well I guess I'm stuck with what I've got. Unless I can con hubby into letting me start one up on his phone... Nope, since he's gone most of the week that won't work either.

Aw, if it weren't for the fact that I had an old unused phone from an upgrade around, I'd have been stuck with one as well.

Stacking means you must have a full barn, which in turn means you will not get any BEMs/SEMs when you wheat/harvest. The game just won't give you those items anymore in case of a full barn. Only items from the mystery boxes can exceed the barn limit , if I remember correctly. Because of this I always have to save some space in my barn.

Yeah but I do my harvesting and pet waking after coming back from using items in the town. You only have to keep the barn full when you cue machines up. Trust me I am not losing any of the free items. And if all my machines are cued up and it's time to harvest, I just make some jewelry or 'shudder'. Sell something. It's a juggling act because I have to clear space to collect my feed. But usually when I get back to my farm, I can collect from all the cows, most of the pigs and some of the chickens before the barn fills again. Then I cue up a machine, collect an egg, lather rinse repeat. The final thing I do is feed my animals which frees up lots of barn space for fishing, shopping etc. You just gotta know how to do it.
